Hey guys, I was flashing a KToonz kernel today and all of a sudden I got stuck on a black screen of death and even when I pull my battery, it won't fix itself. I can't get into recovery mode but I can enter Download mode. PLEASE HELP ANYONE! =(!
Flash the mdk firmware thru odin. Its in the dev sub forum. Youll have to start over with rooting but youll have a working phone.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
Try just the mdk kernel package first. I don't like full phone wipes unless it's necessary.

Yeah wat the 2 post above sounds good. If u can enter dl mode like u stated u can just odin back.
Sent from my Beastly powered S4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
This happened to me three times this week, lol while trying to flash different kernels. I think it was because the zip file was corrupted.
Yup. Get to Download Mode, connect to computer, open up Odin, and i believe the tar.md5 file of the kernel is available somewhere, and just load it up into the PDA section. That will fix everything.
I would reflash your rom after this tho, cuz i saw some minor bugs here and there.

Try rebooting your computer + using a different USB port
Also use the latest version of Odin
Finally, start Odin as soon as the COM Link is shown.

1) Use proper topic tiles. Titles are supposed to be descriptive. This title in no way describes the content. Using titles like "hlp plz", "please help", "Urgent help needed" etc are idiotic.
2) This is not a questions or general forum or a section to create n00b topics, This is a development forum for developers etc to post "developments", "mods" etc, Not this crap.
You want to create topics/questions do it in the questions/general forum, Should be common sense really which seems to escape some people.
send bac to samsung... xD mine even worst than urs... i cant even hv d s2 logo...
@theatheist, this is a Q&A forum. This is not the wrong place to post such a question.
I suggest you remove battery, leave for a bit, then insert and restart. If that forces it into recovery then reflash the stock rom. Otherwise I wouldn't know what to do...

Hello guys..
I would like you to go through XDA new users guide and you must read the FORUM RULES before posting here or anywhere else on xda.
The rate at which the new users are joining xda on daily basis is very high. A lot of users join because they have got some problems with their devices like bricked phone, bootloops etc. because of following incorrect processes. Some join to help out others, to share their knowledge and gain more.
So basically this thread is for all of those who want to ask questions and answer those.
So those who want to help here, just try to answer without flaming, let it be answered thousands of times earlier, show them the path, direction and let them do things on their own. Do not spoon feed, rather just try to point them to right direction.
This whole idea is of @undercover and the former OP Bruce Wayne and I thank him.
To The people asking questions here, don't forget to check for the links from 2nd post. That will help you increase your knowledge, and do answer the questions asked by others if you know the answer. Please don't simply say thanks if some member helps you, instead use the thanks button, that will help us keep this thread less cluttered.

Hey sorry for not replying,
As I am not in scripting, I am completely unaware of such things. I tried hard with the search but couldn't find anything useful. I didn't reply because I was expecting a reply from someone with answer. I saw your thread but it is also unanswered.
You can try asking help from the people in your section working on kernels and shell scripts.
Thanks.

Hi, I've got a Samsung Galaxy S2 and I've got this problem where it freezes upon reaching the "4G" logo on startup. I looked online for answers and someone recommended to "Odin a stock ROM from your PC", and then they posted a link to this site. Now, I have no idea how to Odin, or what a stock ROM is, so could anyone help me out?

Yes.
Welcome to XDA.
Please go to your device's forum using the search your device box from site. type samsung galaxy s2 and choose your device from the options. Look for the stock odin firmwares thread there. Download the one from your region, see the instructions given on flashing there. If you don't understand the instructions, check out youtube videos for that.
Odin is a easy process and just needs instructions to be followed correctly.
And inform us here when you recover your phone again.

Hi,
Make sure you close samsung kies when you try to use odin.
As for flashing anything from odin, you will need to boot into download mode (vol. Down + power + home) after switching phone off. Then press vol. up, you will see a warning, first and after that comes the downloading screen.
Now make sure drivers are installed correctly, open odin, and now connect phone with usb cable, wait for some time till it shows a yellow box saying COM : ID xxx , something like that and now you can flash relevent files through relevent options. Wait for pass (green) signal and you're done.

That seems crazy, if it shows flight mode, you should also not be able to recieve calls. Seems a problem with the rom. Try wiping cache/dalvick cache /data from cwm/twrp and see if it fixes the bug. If not contact the rom developer or flash another/stock rom and reflash CM 10.1 to see if the problem persists.
Also welcome.

A Hero Can Be Anyone. GENERAL HELP THREAD
First off, I am completely new to the android operating system. Ive used iOS since the day the first iPhone was released and have always been in the jailbreaking scene since day one. I don't know any android lingo, so im not exactly sure what what to seach on this website to help get me out of this situation.
Today I rooted my phone, and installed clockwork mod. Watched a boatload of videos online of all sorts of things you can do with root. After installing CW, i rebooted my phone and it would get stuck small blue letters in the top left of the screen saying something about recovery, then continue to vibrate every few seconds. I was able to get the S3 into download mode and now i have no idea what to do with odin to get it to boot back up. Can anyone direct me to a thread that has a download link to re install the OS on my phone if that's whats needed?
Thanks

Hey guys,
Before anyone rushes into flaming, I just want to note that I've been a member here long enough to know how to search the threads before asking a question that has already been answered. This is the reason for the title. Anywho, here is my situation. I got my hands on a brand new S4, used it stock for a bit, then decided to root it (couldn't help myself.)
Post rooting, everything went great. The ROM (JellyBeans) was running smooth, life was peachy, until I decided to let my flashing addiction get the best of me and I decided to try a new ROM (no offense beanstown, just trying something new.) Anyways, I went into recovery, flashed the new ROM, of course wiping the device 4 times, as has become my habit. Went to turn it on, and the "Custom" screen pops up, then the phone just turns off.
I tried using Odin to return it to stock, but unless I'm using the wrong file, I'm getting the same result. Odin seemingly runs fine, but still no booting. Any ideas? The file I'm using with Odin is VRUAMDK_NoWipe. If there is a different one I should be using, please be kind enough to include a link for me. Thank you.
Just flash the full odin back to stock the version that is still rootable. That should do the trick some times not wiping is the issue.

I mentioned in my original post that I had attempted to use Odin to restore it back to stock. At this point, it doesn't really matter to me whether I can root or not, I'd just like it to turn back on. Shoot, I'd be happy with a boot loop right about now.

reflash your verizon kernel, it will boot, you really didn't need to do odin, guess that is every ones quick fix. and if you are doing odin, after it flashes get into recovery and do a factory reset.
