Is there any way to allow the tag to be read when the phones screen is off? This is the only thing holding such a fantastic feature behind and I can't find it!
There are mods that will do it, but it goes without saying that your battery is going to take a significant hit if you have your NFC constantly polling.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
There are several xposed modules that do it. Modaco and nottach iirc.
Edit: modaco toolkit does for sure...not sure if it works, but it's there as a setting.

I could have sworn that I saw an FM tuner in the specs for this phone... Was I dreaming?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
Nope, you weren't dreaming, AT&T did in fact post that there was an FM Tuner in the specs and still shows it here.
I was just looking at their spec sheet and yep, it's right there in black and white ...

Does anyone know of any apps that take advantage of an fm tuner?

Specs does show it .. Hope i really does

Not looking good so far.
jivy26 tried to run the FM radio app pulled from an I9100 and it FCed.
I tried enabling kernel support, and tried the apps myself, and:
1) App was FCing due to missing functions in the framework, not the kernel
2) When I enabled the Si4709 driver and enabled debugging, it indicated that it was failing to load. Even with debug enabled it isn't very verbose about what went wrong, but my first impression is that it isn't finding an FM radio chip.
I'll try again later, but this issue has gone from "low-hanging-fruit" to "needs some time/work to investigate" and I've got higher-priority/easier things to work on.
Good news is that NFC appears to be enabled in our kernel.
Thanks for letting us in on what you found Entropy, even if the news wasn't what we wanted to here... hopefully we can find a solution when things settle down a bit. Much higher priorities right now!

That's a crock of crap! I was looking forward to taking advantage of that as the girlfriend's Inspire4g has it and thought it was a great features.
Hello, im on beans build 10 (it did the same on stock though) but when I press the unlock button there is a short delay until the screen turns on. Its fairly annoying. How can I make it so its instant? Thanks for any help

If it did the same thing with a stock rom, it might be a problem with the phone. I'm using the i605 and I've been on beans build 10 and i have never had a delay problem.
How long is the delay usually?
The delay is almost un noticable. I would guess less than half a second. But there is a slight delay.

It's also well known and been asked a lot. Under display unchecked the auto adjust screen seems to help. Ultimately though it's just how the note 2 is and will (for now) always be there.

It's been talked about on the One x forums with the blame being directed towards jellybean. I don't know if this is true or not but what I was lead to believe.

Well then even if that's the problem I guess we get to live with it. I know it's been talked about a lot here too. Never heard it was JB.
Oh well I'm far from important enough to need my phone so fast that a half second delay is gonna be a problem.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for your replies. I am not really annoyed by this. It only seems to do it when the phone has been at idle for a while. Its not something I would knock this phone for. This things a beast so I can live with a tiny delay. Haha. Thanks again and hope that maybe itll get fixed in either official 4.2 or maybe key lime

i got rid of the unlock delay by disabling the lock screen...been using my n2 this way for a month now. no pocket dialing or anything random...actually dont think i could go back to using a lock screen.
afaik it's an exynos issue. you can do a few things to get the most out of it, but the processor will always take a second to pull itself out of deep sleep.
Does anyone know if light flow works with this phone or if there is a work around yet
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
It worked for me. But it turns in talk back which is extremely annoying. I had a Google voice extension for dash clock turned on in accessibility also and it did the same with talk back. Must be a s4 problem.

I couldn't get it to work. Light Manager was suggested to me and works awesome. Basically the same thing but free.

I noticed that too, even when it was actually turned off in the system. Really annoying, I'll have to give the other one mentioned in here a shot.
The talk back thing is a samsung problem. There is a thread on the Samsung support forums where various devs of apps have been asking them to fix it for awhile but nothing has been done. Anything that uses accessibility seems to have the issue.
I feel kind of stupid but I used to have a swap button and now I seem to only have a record button and can't switch when I take a second call. Am I missing something, this seems to be the case in the regular dialer and in rocketdial

Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
I'm going to help get this back to the top cause I have the same problem. Not sure when the swap button went away but I'm sure it was there at one point. I can not find anywhere in the settings that would change this. Only things I have done is root via chain fire method, install twrp, flashed freeza's crt animation mod for the native wifi tether and his beastmode kernel. Have you done any of this? I would love my swap button back but instead I have to hang up with both callers then call back whoever it is I want to continue talking to and it is really getting irritating. Anyone have any ideas or the same issue?
Sent from my SM-N900P using xda app-developers app
Thank you. I don't feel so alone and dumb now. I rooted using the other knox safe method dela root and odined the same file in that post although my baseband and software say mi3 and the build says mi5. With calls that is the exact problem I have. I can now record a conversation when its on speaker phone but dont need that. Only other thing I downloaded was rocketdial for a while I thought that was it but uninstalled and have the same problem
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
I am finding it hard to believe out of 200 views we are the only ones with this problem. I let my phone update to mj4 before I rooted it. Have you installed the crt animations or a new kernel? We seem so far apart in what we have done to be able to make sense of this.

Hope the bump helps. I don't have the issue you described, but I am with Sprint on MJ4 - what root did you use?
Dela vega. Lets try this does everyone else have a swap button in the top left position or does it say record. Or do you have a record button that switches to swap when you answer a second call
And nothimg else installed for me

And I used chain fire to root. It appears we have both gone completely different routes yet still have the same problem.

Didn't even think of that but might be the one thing we have in common. Let me know what you find. I won't have time to mess with the phone till later tonight.

Its hard to tell because I reset with De la vegas again. But the first thing noticed n Wanum was the record button checked and unchecked it calls work fine now.
Finally got to mess with the phone and wanam was definition the culprit. I can now swap between calls again. The issue I still have and not sure what happens on the stock rom, when I want to hang up with one person I tap end them it doesn't switch me back to the person on hold. Instead it acts as if someone is calling me and then have to answer the phone where that person had been on hold the whole time. Hope this makes sense.

Did you just disable the module this is frustrating I never noticed until today when I tried switching back to the first call I had on hold
It's under the phone tab. Uncheck add record button or something like that. Should work. I have since installed a rom so not 100%. Let me know if it doesn't work and I will reinstall it to see if I can find it.
Sent from my SM-N900P using xda app-developers app
I wish we could have both. I want call recording but also want swap. I use swap so little however that I live without it.
what I want is behind the scenes fully transparent over any connection bluetooth or speaker call recording in the background fully automatic.
I had this on my Touch Pro 2 (windows mobile) and its one feature I really really miss. it just "always" worked.
Does any know of an app, something on wanam, or a mod that will let you double tap to turn the screen on? I've looked but haven't found much... Currently on Rooted stock rom. Thanks

Only option appears to be a play store app. The one called Tap Tap app seems like it does the job, but the reviews are less than stellar.
As my E4GT aged and the buttons became less dependable, many of us started using Gravity Screen On, an app I can personally report as highly functional, does the job (differently), yet takes a degree of patience to get it behaving the way you want (can drive you nuts, but get past that, and you may be pleased),
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexnor.gravityscreenofffree
As to natively doing this, I've seen it tied to kernels for HTC phones, the Nexus series (not just the LG variants, but the tablets, even the Galaxy Nexus), but as to the Note 3 specially or an Xposed module, nada that I can find.
Would love to have it. Wouldn't buy a phone without a replaceable battery or am external SD, but that is one cool feature. I hope someone corrects me on this and unearths something.

I'm pretty sure it's tied to the kernel.
Though I've seen it done with the internal knock sensors.
It can be a huge pain to get working reliably.
The screen at the moment has to be on to accept input.
It sounds like a cool idea.
Then reality sets in....
Actually if you could implement this without...
Errant random screen taps waking the phone.
Battery drain from having to keep part of the system up watching and interpreting screen taps.
Hmmm mm

That at least confirms my suspicion. At least you can give Gravity Screen On a whirl. The free version has full functionality, and your battery doesn't take too bad of a hit on the process. Like I said, it's not something you immediately love, but you can get used to it, and does the job well. It just doesn't work the way the swipe to wake or knock to wake features work.
