Is it possible to install the Samsung's stock email.apk in custom ROM (i.e. CyanogenMod)? Samsung's email is quite nice especially with support of S/MIME encryption. I need this feature and there is no app that is at least as good as the one from Samsung.

Hi, simple answer is no. The Samsung one requires the touchwiz frame work that you get with only a stock rom.

It is possible to use it by titanium back up from stock and then recover it in cm.

Why dont ypu use aqua mail pro craked by lucky patcher. Its really good. We want this type of email app from stock.
Please don't post on XDA advising others to use 'cracked' premium apps......
If you read the site rules, you will see that it's against XDA principals.....developers spend their time producing apps for us to use, who are you to say he/she doesn't deserve a token payment if it's asked for.......

@ OP, maybe have a look at k9 mail? It's ridiculously customisable, and has worked for every email account I have (and that's a fair few).

What I did was to install the Modaco's MCR rom (almost stok, but with optimizations) and then I installed de Email.apk that I extracted from the CM6.zip rom (from system/app/). This way you can use the original 2.2 email app wich supports multiple exchange accounts
Is there any chance you could perhaps post that apk file on this thread?
And I would like that email.apk if possible pls?

Current I'm using speaktoit assistant.
A program similiar to SIRI and I think it's better than IRIS.
You can try by downloading it at the android market app.
After installing the cm7 mms apk I can't go to the settings without the app force closing. Has anyone else had this problem. I've tried rebooting, and reinstalling the app.

Have you flashed cm7 twice? Many times it takes at least two flashes for everything to work properly.

I just corrected the permissions and it is still force closing. I don't remember having this problem before. I guess I can deal with not changing the settings.

Don't use the mms.apk from cm7 and you'll be fine. Cm7 is technically a different os than stock.

I also had the same problem when I was running UnNamed ROM. I ended up flashing the mms.apk from h8s2 and it worked fine. I also searched and searched through the Galaxy S2 MMS Slideshow threads and found a working mms.apk someone had posted. I ended up switching to MIUI though and haven't gone back.

me 2 turns out ive done it before with the camera app
just tested BLN and adw notifier for notification on this mms.apk, everything works! i dont have to run go sms pro anymore!
only thing i dont like is how the conversation thread looks like but i can deal with that.

There are users in the thread confirm it working on various froyo and gingerbread too. Didn't work on my FroyoPro though.
On gdx is not working too.

I have it running pretty fast even with chat heads open constantly but it's a totally stripped 4.1.0
What is your data setting at? High, medium or low? Do you have good internet speed?

I tried on GB (zencefi) today earlier and it's not working...
On MiniCM7 not work too
I try it on Robyn (x10 mini) by the way but its not matter . The API is bigger than GB ones - same error like trying install ICS or JB API-s on GB (syntax error)

It's not there cause it never installs on roms lower than ICS.
that is what i said... even in the original thread many people have mentioned that it only works on 4.0+. Anybody who has tried on GB has reported the parsing package problem
Yep. Its coz of flying things in home which need ICS or JB framework and API to work...
If anyone can port the home for GB too its will be gread.

I just tried the newly released Google Keyboard(the same one in Nexus Devices), it's free and made by Google(duh!) and is very amazing, try that for a change.

Hmm, i can't install it, it says that my device (GT-i9100) is incompatible with this app....
How did you install it?
BTW. I use AI Type plus without any problems.. But my phone is in a custom ROM..

Ah so you must be using gb, the app works only in android 4.0+ or maybe it must be something with your custom rom, if you want I will upload an apk file. Btw I am using a custom jb 4.1.2 rom(GT-I9100) and the app installed fine for me from the play store.
Edit: (To the OP) You may want try what AI keyboards customer support said, but it never hurts to try a free and amazing alternative(especially if its Google).

Actually i'm on Omega v23 (4.1.2) so that's not the problem.
But are you from the US? My suggestion is that it's only available for US devices...
I would appreciate if you could upload it here, i tried Market Unlocker but still couldn't get to the app :/

I reset "My Type", i'll wait a few days, i hope now to problem solved..
I've installed also in other device, Motorola Defy+ MB526, custom rom CM10, without problems....
