Tmobile website shows L9 with 4.2 and NFC? - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

If you look at the specifications tab on the tmobile website page for the L9, it says it comes with Android 4.2, and has NFC listed under connectivity.
I know as of now we don't have 4.2, and I didn't think we had NFC, but was I mistaken? Or is it just L9s bought from here on out come with NFC?

It might be a typing error. Who knows.

The T-Mobile version (P769) doesn't..

NFC requires a NFC enabled battery. Since our phones use the same battery as other LG devices such as 4X HD with NFC i think it's safe to say our battery has the NFC capability. I dont see NFC as terribly useful but more features the better.

The battery usually says NFC on them if they are an NFC battery. P769's don't

Samsung usually puts 'Near Field Communication' but I don't see any LG batteries that reference NFC at all, yet they have 33 phones that have NFC support. Some third party batteries i've sold have a tag indicating nfc, but that is pulled off at install.

Nfc confirmed in note?

I thought it did but I just saw a spec sheet and did not see it listed so I am not sure now.
Yes, the antenna for it is in the battery door like how the blackberry9900 is. There are 2 metal contacts on the inside of the battery door.

Yes, it is in the AT&T version. It is not listed as a spec though.
All the new AT&T phones (the high end versions anyway) all come with NFC but none of them have working software stack. Basically they are disabled until AT&T sponsored ISIS takes off. So, consider the NFC as non-functional until AT&T has a change of heart.

Or until we have a canadian or korean rom that has it enabled. Both my ATT skyrockets have nfc enabled through a rogers rom
And it actually works? Which rom? I have seen it but have not been able to get it to work.

Anyone else find it pretty coincidental that as the Galaxy Note comes out that Google Wallet opens up to AT&T Nexus phones on the Android Market. I wouldn't give your hopes up, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
With all the security problems (two ways for other ppl to reset the GWallet pin on your phone, one requires root, one doesn't) recently discovered in GWallet, I will steer clear of that app.

NFC?

On verizion's site it says no nfc support but is this true?

Where does it say that? I highly doubt vzw would remove nfc...
NFC is built into the actual battery back cover this time around, not the actual battery like the S3. So yes, the Note 2 does have NFC.

Here it is now November 16th. I know many have complained to Verizon and I added my voice to that today. Their website, when yo do a compare, shows that the Note 2 does NOT support NFC. It makes me think that Verizon is doing this intentionally. They have been notified and have not acted to correct and obvious misrepresentation of the phones capabilities. What better way to help their massive PR push for the Droid DNA? It's a little thing, but as a Verizon customer, it bugs me.
Hey! My first post was a complaint.

[Q] Any Real Differences W/ Verizon Note 2?

What are the real differences w/ Verizon Note 2 vs to other Note 2 versions? And I am not talking about stickers. What is the differences in hardware, software and overall experience? And are they giving multitasking out the door? Etc...

Anything right now about this is just pure speculation.
Right now it is thought they are pretty much identical to Sprint / AT&T models, except for maybe multi-window feature. It seems like there are updates that have been rolled out/will soon be available by carrier and a modified ROM that is supposedly going to be released on XDA that has the feature.
only known difference is home button branding on verizon only.
tmobile and att have wireless charging contacts exposed on back panel
sprint does not

I thought the leads on the Sprint version were covered up by something.
There are some different pre-installed apps on the various carrier branded versions. Hardware is the same as far as I know, minus possibly the battery. I think carriers may also offer slightly different color variations as well, similar to the SGS3. For the most part though, Samsung has stopped making 400 different configurations of one phone and are making one phone and just changing the software around for the various carriers instead.
I'm curious if the Verizon version will be quad-core.

There's no need to be curious. It is quad-core.
Hardware will only be different in color/branding, and any changes to the radio chips/firmware so they work with VZWs network. Other than that, all devices should be the same from a hardware standpoint. Software is where most of the differences will be, but most of the stuff should be the same as well, with only a handful of carrier specific apps being different.

If it is a rep I wouldn't read too much Ito what they say. Without NFC that means no sbeam which seems unlikely

Samsung Music Hub is part of the features of Samsung Galaxy Note II (Verizon) Check out Samsung support site for Verizon version. The site doesn't mention NFC, but Samsung's support page for T-Mobile's Note 2 doesn't show NFC either even when that device has NFC. The NFC is part of Samsung Music Hub so you can "beam" music. So I take that Samsung Galaxy Note II (Verizon) as having NFC. And yes, the support site does confirm the S Beam.

While it won't stop me from purchasing the phone, I have used NFC on my GNex like crazy. I love Gwallet and being to bump stuff over to my Nexus 7 and back. So for me, it matters a little bit
NFC is there on Verizon version. And there is a hack that gets Google Wallet installed into Galaxy Note 2 and running.
The main question is "When can our community find a way for us to get around the bootloader locked?", so we can root these babies.

NFC: This Tag Is Not Supported issue?

Does the Galaxy Mega have any compatibility issues with old NFC tags like the S4
It requires the latest nfc tags not the older ones

I have yet to have any nfc issues infact I created a nfc application because of how much I use nfc I have one under my desk so when I get home it switches all my settings and turns on dock mode then when I leave it reverts I also use nfc for bus passes debit card and access to my doors at work. Never once had an issue only thing I originally had an issue with was the nfc tag being random but I solved that issue now.

Modded Google Wallet?

So, there is a modded version of Google Wallet, which allows phones not on the whitelist to use NFC payments.

Anybody feel like testing this out on the OG? I'm not thrilled about using a modded app that has access to my cards and bank account, so if anyone wants to try it I suggest someone familiar with code dig through the apk first.

I have it downloaded and installed per the directions in the linked thread, but it has been stuck on the "just finishing up a couple things" screen for about 30 minutes now. Don't know what that means, but will let you know what happens.
Update : it doesn't work. Left it setting up for 2 hours, and it gave me a settings FC until I got rid of it. It also seemed to use a ton of power, but thankfully I was plugged in.

Yeah, I've been using houstonn's 4.4 PA Alpha and Wallet and Tap & Pay are both configurable, but I haven't had it actually work yet. I tried at Radio Shack last night with no luck. Has anybody else had better luck?
I tried it, not sure if I was doing it right but no luck for me.

FWIW, I did get a Google Wallet update last night. Looks like it added some cool features, like adding a debit or credit card just by taking a picture.
Hopefully it will also now allow us to use our phones for tap and pay.
Still no tap and pay, it seems. I guess this is because we don't have the secure element? I was hoping Kit Kat and Google Wallet updates would get around that.
Tap and pay didn't work at the two stores I tried it at. I'm using a e970 running houstonn's KitKat rom. The wallet app indicates that tap and pay is setup correctly. Android beam works fine.

Unfortunately, LG OG and most of the phones subsidized by carriers are made with NXP NFC controllers. NXP has not provided the sources/drivers to enable HCE from KitKat. I'm sure the carriers paid big money to NXP to not provide drivers and lock down their customers to using ISIS payments only. ISIS sucks, you need a secure element SIM, unrooted phone, and only can link certain credit cards with high fees. Phones with Broadcom NFC controllers are already enjoying tap and pay with Google wallet.

So, just got an email from AT&T saying that I should come into a store and get a secure element SIM so that I can use Isis. Anyone else get this? Or have you used Isis?
