I'm running stock TW rooted (not ME7) w/TWRP, and am looking for a way to flash out the TW dialer for the AOSP dialer. Anyone know of a way to do this?
Thanks!
Don't know if you're interested in alternate app options, but the Touchpal dialer is a powerful and configurable dialer, includes T9 and quick dial, etc.
Very nice dialer, the one I use on all ROMs.
I'm looking for a fundamental replacement. Am also using a nice user installable app, but don't like that the phone often switches back to the TW dialer in certain circumstances, and also for incoming/outgoing calls.

i was wondering if it is possible to make a third party dialer the default and bypass the stock? i am running a gingerbread rom and loved the htc dialer and the dialer in go contacts isnt too bad so i want to make it the default. i have it all set up except for incoming calls. i want to theme it as close to sense as possible.
nevermind, fixed the issues.
Thrid Pary Dialer
So, how did you fix it?
hi all
im playing with cm7
its awesome - bit faster than kj2
but i loved the functionally of the phone app in touchwiz
slide the contact to call or message , search bar on top instead of having to click through options etc
is there a way to get the phone apk .. i heard it relies on the TW framework
if so
then is there another phone apk i can use ?
thanks
The TW dialer will not work with CM. Look for dialer's in the Market instead. There are several choices.
E.g. Touchpal or Dialer One.
Touchpal:

Hello,
I hate Samsung's default SMS application.
Fonts are too big (I'm using Tiny size fonts), delivery reports comes as a seperate notification, no vibration options etc.
It is also ugly.
Is there any way to install Cyanogenmod's SMS application to Samsung based roms?
It would be great to install CM10's latest sms app to our LI1 based JB roms.
There are great features like Quick Reply etc.
Thanks.
Edit: Btw, I don't want Go Sms or Handcent Sms, don't suggest them. I just want Cyanogenmod Sms.
And I don't want to use CM10 since there are memory leak issue and Camera app is not functional as stock samsung.
Hello,
for ages I haven't seen multi DPI stock dialer. Seriously nobody has done that?
I changed DPI in my NeatROM and stock dialer is now a bit crappy.
I do not want to use exDialer (this is crap application), DialerOne (same as earlier) and others. I'd use 3rd party dialer if there were any of them which could provide stock look and behaviour - but there is no any
So it seems that each time there's a new version of Android, 27 different people release the new launcher as an installable APK for people who don't have AOSP-based ROMs (or have older ROMs). Same with keyboards.
But are there any such things for the AOSP SMS/MMS app? I'd REALLY like to have AOSP SMS/MMS on a TouchWiz device (SGS3). I know there are alternatives like Handcent, Go SMS, Chomp, etc. but I've not found one that's close enough to AOSP that I like them. If you have suggestions, do feel free to suggest an alternative but please do NOT suggest the following:
Handcent
Go SMS
Chomp SMS
Why?
Yeah, I know I can root and flash custom AOSP ROMs but the custom ROM I want to run for the next week+ (while I'm traveling) is a TW-based ICS ROM because all of the AOSP ROMs are JB-based and JB-based ROMs get crap battery life currently. Battery life is going to be important to me while I'm traveling, so I'm dropping back to TW-based ICS.
Specific features that are important to me:
Not cartoony - AOSP-like minimalistic approach is best
Non-intrusive delivery receipts (toasts are fine, don't want notifications I must dismiss and non-configurable sounds)
Call button on the SMS screen (like AOSP)
Uses the standard SMS APIs so I can backup/restore with TiBu
