I'm runnig it, try to download again from the other link, just flash it without placing in /system/app, it's not an app.
Sorry, i ve put it to system/media...still doesnt show anything...have downloaded from both links...no luck either flashing it or manually push it to system/media and set permission ...
When flasing with bmm, it says that it is a nexus 4 boot....is it the right file in the flashable zip?
Could you upload just the bootanimation.zip? Not the flashable one. The one you run on your device.

Sorry for asking, but it's working flawlessly for me, so, what did you push to /system/media? The whole "MotoX-bootanimation.zip" or the "bootanimation.zip" extracted from it? And after pushing to /system/media, did you set him the right permission (rw-r--r--)?

I have extracted it and push just the bootanimation.zip to system/media. I have set the correct permission. I think there is something wrong in the zip and should be fixed.
I tried the MotoX-Animation (manually) and it didn't work! Then i searched for an other version and found one in qHD resolution which uses single jpeg images instead of a video. It works without Problems.

Related
I simply modified this one with mspaint and updated it like this :
- 2010 => 2011
- 800 mhz => 1000 mhz
- Android 2.1 => Android 2.2
How to install :
You need a rooted phone.
You need Super Manager (availaible on market for free).
Using wifi/usb put bootanimation.zip where you want on the sdcard, then cut this file with Super Manager and paste it in /system/media
Reboot your phone and enjoy.
Thanks! I'll try it
It's OK, thanks!
nice thanks
Applied. This one is quite amusing

nope..
you just need to put and overwrite that .zip file in the /system/media folder.
use that app in the 1st post to do it (because you need root - and RW - privileges).

Hey, stop crossposting your "not working" posts! If you describe your problem a bit more detailed, we could probably help. But not in case you mentioned above
I found a boot animation in rom toolbox that i really would like to use but i can not get it to work! i have tried it on multiple roms and by manually putting it in system/media and nothing works!!! any ideas?
Was it named bootanimation.zip when you put it in /system/media?
Did you change permissions after you put it in /system/media?
Which boot animation is it?

Can you use this method to install any bootanimation and do you need an SD card to replace bootanimation?
Thanks

Yeah, you can. You don't need a sd card, because the bootanimation is in the internal memory.
Cheers buddy.
i tried to change it yesterday and dowloaded the new bootanimation to my pc i copied it over to the phone (dragged and dropped it), but when i check the phone via es file explorer i cant see it so thought you needed an sd card in the first place.
And do i just delete the old bootanimation from my phone or do i back it up somewhere.
Will have another go tonight.
Thanks

check to make sure its not an entire update zip that you are pushing to your system media, aslong as it just consists of a desc.txt and a few parts, yeh you can push it there as described. if its an update.zip, just use it or if you want, extract the files and the smaller bootanimation.zip will be inside for you.

well good luck with it! happy modding! and also make sure you try this one. i tried it earlier and it really is flawless.
Im trying to load my bootanimation.zip
Im currently on the VK rom v5.1 with siyah kernel (so bootanimations are supported)
Ive tried pasting the zip into system\media with root explorer. There is no current bootanimation.zip present but bootsamsung.qmg
Also i've tried to pasting the bootanimation.zip into data/local.
On both attempts i get a black screen.
No idea what to try now?!

Has anyone got a custom made or downloaded boot animation for their Z3 working? Because I can't get mines to work at all and then when I placed the original bootanimation.zip back, the original boot animation no longer works either.

That looks pretty cool. But does it work on your Z3, I'm assuming it does because you said you're using it. But I would more like to use my own that I made myself and I just can't get it to work at all. I know how to make boot animations and how to ZIP them up as Store and what the values in the desc.txt mean. I just don't understand why it won't work. And even after putting back the original bootanimation.zip, I no longer have a boot animation at all.
Idk man :|
Have you tried editing an already existing one?

Yeah I actually edited a copy of the original which has the exact same number or images that I replaced in it even saved them all in the exact same image format. But what's weird is that after I realized that the one I made was no good, I placed the original back. But even after doing that I now don't have a boot animation at all.
So no one knows why custom made boot animations won't work with the Z3? I've made my own custom boot animations for both of my previous Android devices, Xperia PLAY and Xperia Z Ultra and I've never had any issues when doing it.

You mean just mount /system in RW? Because that's what I originally did to change it. And it didn't work.
EDIT: Nevermind I figured out what you meant by setting permissions to rw-r--r-- and now my boot animation works, thanks!
