Hello forum:
I have given up! the "Android OS" in my data counter is beyond hope! I had a very high use but that was the sync and after i fixed that i had much less data usage by the Android OS but none the less it amounts to btw 50-300mb in a month depending on how much i use my device...I hve tried alomost everything i could think of so a developer help would be HIGHLY appriciated....thanks
This is what i know:
1) If i ust leave my cell connected to wifi and done use it is stii uses data over wifi without doing anything! it can mount to approx 1mb overnight with no usage and over 20mbs if i browse...the more i browse the bigger it gets...
2) i wiped my DNS cause i thought maybe that part of the traffic routing was handled under the OS but it still kept escalating despite that; no site worked as expected and neither did most apps including google play...but if i put the IP adress (say for google.com) obviously the site still loads. This lead me to conclude whatever is communicating is communicating with a fixed IP adress specified somewhere in a file....no idea what file or adress that is.
3) if i use a watchdog pro that shows a different usage under Android OS+others....and its shows more upload and download than the build in data counter under options.
4) All this is with a clean fresh reset and a new CyanogenMod 10.1 ROM, wiped all cache and delvik cache. installed absolutly nothing and still just connected to the wifi it downloads/uploads stuff...thought only a few kb every 10mins but i would still like to know what is going out/coming in
5) i deleted all files and logs from hoping that would end the problem but to no avail:
/data/system/dropbox
/data/system/usagestats
/cache/recovary
/data/system/throttle
/datd/tombstones
i also changed the permissions of the said folders to remove write privilages i.e. as follows: r-e --- --- from this rwe --- --- to prevent and new files being written and start uploading again but nothing happened....still Android OS is gogin strong
6) i even changed the biuild.prop to add the line
ro.config.nocheckin=1
7) and i did this with no gapps installed so google services frame work or sth else was not to blame....
can someone please help me understand whats happening? I would ideally like to turn it totally absolutly off or atleast know whats being sent/recieved using that as a guise...thanks

Hi guys,
Wonder if anyone can shed a light why this happens. It's been going on for the last few months – Originally I thought I'd wait and see if the problem resolves by itself. But seems to get slightly worse over time now.
I am currently: Rooted & Unlocked
Problem: System hangs after reboot at home screen with message “Process System Not Responding” - with option to wait or terminate the process – Whatever option is chosen, ATP will reboot itself.
Frequency: Unpredictable – But once the message appears after switching it on, ATP will reboot itself 2 to 4 times before I can use it again.
I had done a lot of searches, but there doesn't appear to be any solution / or anyone knows why this is happening. One useful comment I found recently said this may be due to some processes starting before they are meant to during boot up sequence – but no details were given.
What I had tried (based on numerous suggestions after searching the net):
Wipe Dalvik Cache / Caches
Clear “Media Storage” and “Google Framework Services” data
Remove my accounts (currently I have two accounts registered in my ATP) and re-register the accounts.
Remove all the widgets from home screen
Hard reset / Factory Reset
Finally – Multiple different combinations of the above
Getting quite frustrated here.
Wonder if anyone can help please?
Thank you in advance.
[Q] "Process System Not Responding" researching and even downgrading to .15 --> .21, I think the problem is finally solved.
Allegedly "Process System is Not Responding" may be caused by process(es) that hangs or take too long to complete during the boot up sequence. So I uninstall blindly one program at a time - and it appears that Cachemate might have caused it.
Prior to this, every 3-4 normal boots, were followed by 2-3 "Process System is Not Responding" until a normal boot followed. I am now 48 hours problem free. Hopefully it will stay this way.
Edit (11/06) - Ok, spoke too soon. Got the message again after 24hours of use and after roughly 15 normal reboots (I switched ATP off/on these many times to make sure the problem was well and truly gone). The Cachemate could just be a red herring then. However there appear to be less in term of frequency. I noted that the message came on after I watched a video (3hours long video - 600mb in size) and rebooted ATP. Tried disabling media storage (no real logic here, I thought I just gave it a go) - but the problem is still there. So this evening, I reflashed the asus .21 rom --> downgrade to .15 --> reroot --> upgrade back to .21 (again to real logic here, thought I give it a go).
I can't think what else to do. I wonder if large hosts file (mine is 8mb) could cause the problem or the wallpaper I use that is stored under /sdcard - but again, the problem/message only comes up randomly.
Edit (13/06) - Finally managed to narrow down the problem. Everytime a large hosts file (mine is about 8mb) is created, the problem comes (faithfully everytime). And when the original smaller hosts file is restored - problem is gone entirely.
Any input on workaround is very much appreciated.
alright i fixed it on my phone. i did a full wipe. tell me if i need to explain how to do this. reflashed the ROM and gapps. when i went through the setup the first time there was an option to restore from google. it was checked by default. i left it checked. same problem... system process not responding... wiped and started over and reflashed ROM and gapps. unchecked restore google and it didnt come back. phone hasnt crashed since. the problem lies within the wifi passwords restore. the problem started when i was trying to start wifi. i dont know where to report the bug or i would. good luck and any questions? just quote this so i get an email and ill try to explain if this didnt make sense. hope it helped. if it did consider buying my buddy a beer who is a dev and needs a new computer. http://johntriger-development.yolasite.com/
hello,
I couldn't find any other forum to discuss about this version of Huawei mobile phone. I really need help since the last legitimate EMU update ruined the whole system and now my new mobile phone that I have never had a chance to use it is like a trash device... I hope someone here can help me to recover it since i tried all ways I found on internet.
I bought this mobile from China and bring it to Europe. Since I wanted to remove some chinese default software (that wasn't basic software but really annoying), I used an app and rooted the mobile phone. so I removed some of chinese stuff and installed some of good software. Everything worked fine and I tested skype and I had high resolution picture with 8 Mega pixel camera. I tested all its functionality and it was really good...
I noticed that there is a new legitimate update for this OS, since I still didn't have any sd memory, I couldn't have a backup of this old system and this was a big mistake...
anyway... I let it do the legitimate update for EMU... but immediately after reboot, I noticed that Camera and bluetooth are out of functions... so I first thought the problem is with bluetooth configuration but I was wrong since the internal memory was read only and no longer available.
I formatted the internal memory via computer (the part which was available) but no luck... I bought a sd card and changed the storage from internal to external but this didn't help to function bluetooth and camera...
I had a back up from /system/apps and then removed manually the bluetooth.apk and also its odex file. then restarted the system, clear dev cache and tried to install bluetooth.apk again. but I received error message and couldnt' do that. so again I copied those file back to its location.
So bluetooth turns on now, can send signal but for receiving or sending file, it fails, It can also pairs with other device.. So I thought it should be something related to permissions. I again checked the bluetooth permissioin on /etc/permissions/platform.xml and notice they are ok.
I changed the permission of storage and added the external storage to the list and added group storage_rw.
but this also didn't solve the problem with camera and bluetooth.
several times reset to factory mode didn't solve the problem...
I tried to hack the bootloader but I could not unlock it... I sent all information to [email protected] and asked them to send me bootloader password and provide them with all detail information about the device and accepted that the device is out of warrant but I received no response...
I installed "safe system remover apps" and after having backup of Gallery2.apk, I uninstalled it (it is related to camera and all gallery information)... but with no luck I could install it again...
So, I am really hopeless now since I don't know whatelse I can to do... the system doesn't functioning and I need to load on it the custom ROM but the device only can go to fastboot and cannot load the recovery mode anymore and factory reset from the UI is only reset the mobile to fastboot without doing anything else.
I tried to run the factorymode.sh from the device but I receive error messages to access some files such as bluetooth parameters/power
I couldn't myself find this file on the directory that it looks for.
I would really appreciate it if you can tell me any way that I can unlock the bootloader from the device (because outside of the device I tried different applications but with no luck...)
I have a cutom ROM for G630-U20 (not exact version for this device but almost similar) and if I can have a bootloader password I can try this one or any other customized ROM.
I would appreciate any way that you can show me to solve the problem.... either by changing permissions to solve this problem.
Thank you.
Summary:
So this morning (abiout six hours ago) my beloved S2 running CM12 crashed and could not reliable boot since then, it goes into some kind of weird bootloop.
The issue in detail:
Attempting to boot (long press on power button) will bring up the "Galaxy I9100" as sually and continues with the CM12 bootloader animation. After the typical time required to boot it vibrates slightly as usual, but afterwards the screen dims for about a second and the whole process is repeated.
What I did shortly before the issue:
Google Play wanted to update apps, but I was out of internal memory. So I went to /data/data and searched and deleted all files containing "cache". I've done this about 20-40 times over the last months (I didn't keep count) and never had any issue.
Things I've tried:
It is possible to access the recovery mode, but the options in CM12's recoverey are very limited (unlike TWRP for example). I cleared the cache but it had no effect.
After taking out the battery the "optimizing apps" windows pops up. When it's done, user input (enter sim, unlock pattern, homecreen) is possible, but only for a few seconds. The first time I missed the chance, the second and thired time I immediately restarted into safe mode.
Safe mode works surprisingly well, the first time I used it to let google continue the updates and disabled autostart of Applock and Greenify, the second time I uninstalled both Apps and cleared the dalvic cache (simply by deleting data/dalvic/). Neither attemped solved the issue.
What I'm currently doing:
After booting into safe mode for the 4th time I'm starting to back up all user data. Communication with a PC works only for some time, but reconnecting solves the issue (for now).
So what's next?:
Honestly I've no idea what I'm doing. I've installed CM on 3 devices in the past 4 years, but thats all experience I have. I'm hoping that I'm just missing an important detail and can get around all these problems with a simple fix. If not, I'd try a clean install, but I'd like to avoid that.
So, if you've got ANY IDEA what the issue might be or what to try, I'm open for all suggestions! Chances are that I haven't left the safe mode since posting, so you can also request sceenshots of anything you need. Thanks!

I'll update this thread with all step that I take, so that a) you know where I am b) I remember everything and c) people with similar problems might benifit:
• The USB connection was kinda fragile, so I copied all data to the micro SD instead
• sdcard0 could be copied without problems
• phone crashed during coping of other files in root. Folder "sys" has been copied (at least partionally) before crash
• reboot normal, but always with message "Trebuchet was closed"
• seems to work fine now
• exit plane mode (I've enabled it before to charge quicker and reduce heat) and display turns black
• medium long press on power button brings up restart menu, nothing else can be done (checked: double click home button for camera, long click for recent apps)
• turn on airplane mode again and restart and its just fine again
• tried out a different sim card, same issue.
Based on all this, I'd say the issue is a third party app acting (badly) on the ppresence of a mobile connection. Weird. Will investigate the issue further tomorrow, or - more likely - flash the new lineageOS version. I'll report back when I know more.
After making a backup of ALL files I followed the pinned tutorial to install linageOS. Everything - including mobile connection - seems to work fine now! Thanks @djibe89 for such an amazing easy-to-follow tutorial

So, the weirdest thing happened to me... I installed an app named WiFi Connection Manager from roamingsoft to play around, and I asked this app to blacklist my home wifi.
I then asked to un-blacklist it, but that failed, and ever since I cannot connect to my home wifi anymore: when I insert password it lists my wifi as "saved" but it won't connect.
Things I tried that did not work:
change wifi name
change wifi password
change wifi channel
reset bits and piece all the way down to factory reset the phone, install a different rom* and go back to original rom
* more on that below
Things I tried that did work:
change rom to lineage OS
change rom from android 9 to 8 (both original android one rom from the phone brand) (but going back to the original rom version 9 fails again, even tho I flashed form a newly downloaded file with nothing to do with the version I did somehow corrupt, and before I even logged in to android, so the phone did not even know it was the same user)
change the security of my wireless from wpa2 to something else (wpa/wpa2 for example)
oddly enough if I change wifi settings to have the same wifi name shared between my 2.4ghz and my 5ghz wifi, my phone will connect to the wifi, and it will connect using the 5ghz (the problematic one).
---
i also have the feeling a corruption to my nfc happened at the same time, but I don't know for sure, in case someone knows of a connection between the two problems let me know, but the nfc never worked on other roms.
When I flash a new image I flash a number of partitions including one named bluetooth, so I can't imagine which partition I am leaving untouched that has the blacklist in it...
Does anyone have an idea how an app -even if it had root privileges- could cause such low level damage, and more importantly how I could fix it?
Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S10 5G version SM-G977P on Sprint.
The issue I have is when rebooting the device, randomly it will change my userID to the point the system things it is being hard reset. All my apps force close and nothing works except wiping the data partition and re-setting up my entire device.
I have no idea what is happening, I thought I had all security disabled but something is causing a new user to be detected or whatever. All I know is its annoying. I do have EdXposed, which I want to keep, but I do not think that is the sole cause. I can't force it to happen either.
What I am looking for is someone who understands the startup/shutdown procedure for android and what things in that would cause this kind of behavior. I do have a logcat attached that was taken right after this happened.
Whoever helps me out, I wouldn't mind donating a beer/coffee, cause this is driving me mad.
Thanks,
Seth
Additional information:
So I installed an application via adb, and the device immediately showed the boot animation and soft rebooted itself. Which I overlooked, every time I would reboot the device, it was right after installing an apk via adb. Is there something with the installer that is screwing up and getting user information wrong?
Some more:
I noticed that device encryption is disabled but user_de still shows up. And when this random event occurs, apps crash because they can't read their data in the user_de location (Permission Denied) unless I set 777 to the entire contents of user_de. So the apps no longer are the owner of those files. Its so weird and I think what is happening is the device installs an app and gives it a different user or something and when I reboot, it makes all the apps have this owner and nothing can communicate.
@elesbb
If an app gets installed then by default it's always installed for the headlesss system user ( user 0 ).

That is what I thought.. But, ya know, they changed a million things in Android 10 to make it "more secure" so I have no idea what the heck is happening. Another thing I noticed is EdXposed log contains duplicate entries for loading of the classes, could this be part of the problem?
I honestly am so lost as to what could be doing this.
