Excluding a task from the task manager - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to exclude an app from my team manager? I run TSF Shell for my launcher and I want to be able to use their patch that sets it as default on boot, but the patch puts the app on the task manager and it gets removed when I choose kill all. So I would like to be able to make it not show up, is there any way to do this?

The best task killer... is none.
Android 2.1 and up already has best task killing, and it's all automatic.
I only kill processes when they're not responding or freezing. Even then I just hold down the back button to end it (I'm on CM7).

I was in the same boat as you, so I asked many android-geeks about good task killers but all of them recommended me not to use any task killer !!!
The best task killer (for me) it's "Advanced Task Killer Pro",just 5 bucks and really works.
market link: ADVANCED TASK KILLER PRO
Advanced task killer is the best, I use it often, also has many options

Task manager

Is there any way to make an app like the galaxy devices have? Yes I know most of them (except sgs2 lol) have low ram, even the galaxy s ... but some of them take battery...
Force close an app without the need to go to app info, running services, cached processes...
Also, there is no way to see the foreground apps without having a 3rd party app (I use appswipe! For that)... foreground apps may cause wakelocks too
Any talented dev to make a good thing for us? Thank you in advance, if you do it...
Why not use CyanogenMod feature in the application>development "long press back button to kill task"

I do, but if I leave someone else play a bit, or do multitasking and forget...

1. Install 3rd party app(kill all apps feature)
2. Reboot your phone after you friend or someone used it
3. I pretty sure a dev like Andy wont implement it as you know task managers are...not really needed.
4. Make it a habit to kill long press back button...
5. Why not don't use the apps that have wakelock...I have a tight app control here and no wakelocks eventhough all my apps(if they are in memory) are running

1. Those are task killers
2. If I let a friend play, it will only give it back to me when in a rush, so can't reboot, and all the apps stay on background
3. We need something like ICS has, but on GB, to see what apps are running (special softkey in galaxy nexus, I think long-press home on ours, ICS users should say how...)
4. Done I sometimes play on other phones, with softkeys that don't need to be pressed (You know how) and I get scared when I play games and I accidentally press back
5. No more wakelocks except google services and android system

[Q] Hiding apps in Sense 3.6

Does anyone know of a ROM, MOD, or app that allows the user to hide apps in the Sense app drawer? That's pretty much the only reason I use a third-party launcher, now that Sense 3.6 has folders...

Probably not the option you want, but if you never use an app you can "freeze" it using titanium backup and that will hide it from the drawer.
That's what I do with the stocks app and such. It let's me use sense and get rid/hide a few apps I never use.
Would be a cool mod if someone could make a selectable list for the app drawer. Hopefully Htc adds the functionality some day.

As far as I know, there is a file that controls what is seen in the tray but it's only read during the first boot after a rom install.
I believe the only way you can "hide" apps is by disabling them. You can do this by going into Settings>Apps and select whichever app you want to disable.
This will remove the apps from being seen in your app drawer and prevent them from being active.

[Q] ICS Stock task manager

Does the ICS stock task manager( or whatever it is called) actually kill apps when you swipe them? I ask this question because when i swipe the apps it doesn't show that the app is killed in my task killer and that it is still running. Or is it because the rom is still in Beta?
Thanks.
It doesn't kill the app . It just removes it from the Recent Apps list
This was sent from a Galaxy Ace. Problem?
Oh ok thanks!

If you need a task manager and switcher like Windows OS i recommend you "Perfect Task Switcher".
It is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...m9yZy5yYWJvbGQuYW5kcm9pZC50YXNrc3dpdGNoZXIiXQ..
It has got ICS 4.0 Stock Task manager ui design. And it's not recently app list. It's a real task switcher and killer.
Trust me, i searched for a task killer and switcher for a long time and now it is my favourite app.
If you need help for use it write me, i will help you...
Note: I don't know it supports ICS, I am using it on gingerbread now. Try and see...
thanks man,will try
Android doesnt need a task manager. It can manage apps by itself.

Task manager

Is there an app that will allow you to schedule when to kill a constant running app? Words with friends used to allow you to turn off the notifications but its no longer an option. I have heard on the Razr Max you can schedule when to kill an app after a certain set time. Any options? Thanks!
Android will do it automatically. If it's not creating a wake lock the it's not hurting anything. Apps like those burn up the battery more than they help. The task killer built into android will kill it once it needs the extra memory.

That's the reason I'm looking for something to stop it. I knew the phone will take care of it when it needs to but its more for my battery then anything else.

Try advanced task killer. You can set it up to kill at scheduled intervals.
