As a College Project, I have to create an Android App for searching the SMS Messages stored in the device. for eg. if one types "hi", then all the messages containing the word "hi" are displayed on screen. I know that this is directly possible in the new Android versions but now I can't change the topic and I'll have create such an app and complete it in January 2012!
I have searched on Google and have found 2 ways:-
1. Using the Mobdev Wiki Tutorial and searching for the messages, which is complex and I have not yet used databases for programming so it is fairly new for me.
2. Using the Android Search Interface for directly using Android's search UI and make things easier and simpler for me.
I need suggestions on which method is suitable and what other options are available. And how can the SMS Database be linked to the Android Search Interface and the messages be displayed properly on screen. Looking forward to your suggestions and answers, if you don't have time, please atleast give links to useful resources related to the above problem!

Please sm1 help me wth my problem??,
If I use the Mobdev Wiki code, how can the code found on http://mobdev.olin.edu/mobdevwiki/FrontPage/Tutorials/SMS Messaging#Searching be modified to only open the messages which contain a specific word in their body? If the body is "Hi John", then would only the word "Hi" return that message??
Hi folks,
Will try and keep this short.
I am at the moment having an Android app and an IOS app made by a professional company. It has cost me £10,000.00 for both apps.
It is a map based app with markers. When clicked on a marker an info box pops up witha Facebook icon linked to page, Twitter etc
I desperately want to add Instagram icon that links to that persons page.
I am being told that at the moment this is not possible and that the only thing that can be linked to via the icon is images.
I am after just clicking the Instagram icon and that takes you to the whole Instagram page of that person.
They are using the native Android APK and the same for IOS.
Are they correct in saying that Instagram has not yet released a SDK/API yet.
Quoted for the company email to me,
On your request to also integrate Instagram to the app, we will be unable to assist due AT THIS STAGE simply due to the fact that Instagram to date does not provide android and ios sdk/api so we cannot integrate instagram directly in any android or ios apps at present. We can still design the user interfaces and integrate the app with Facebook.
Thanks for any help folks

Hi folks,
Is there any reason why no one can answer this please?
Have I not followed rules or something? I just assumed this was the best forum on the planet to ask such a question and I am surprised no one has answered?
Can you recommend somewhere else I could possibly get answers for my question please?
Cheers!
Greetings, fellow developers.
I was given the assignment to develop an application that enhances the user's experience for a certain website. This app works fine, but unfortunately, you have to call it from Android's menu every time.
Since you are most likely to be using Dolphin when you want to start it, why not make a 'shortcut' in the plugin tab that launches the app?
Is it possible?
Thanks in advance :good:
(I was unable to post this on the dev forums)
I would be very grateful if a mod could move this thread to the Android developer's board, it does not belong here
*bump*
Noone? D:
Got this link on Web Mod Edit: link removed
Going to try this soon
This is just a link to to the work David_Vaz is doing.
Nothing to see here...
The site linked to requires a "like" on social media sites to download anything. Which obviously requires registration to one of those social media sites. And that is not allowed on XDA.

Hello, I was thinking of an effective way to share reviews with other android app developers. If you want a review for your app, reply to this thread with a link to your app. If you can't post links, write your app's package name so it can be found by making a search on the Play Store. Whenever someone submits an app I will add it to the list.
Instructions:
1. Download an app from the list below.
2. Give an honest review & click G+ if you like it.
3. Use pm to inform the developer you rated his/her app. Write name of review and if you pressed G+.
App list:
1. Godistjuven: Story Smash! com.companyname.StorySmash
