Hi guys,
I've Htc Hero with me, I've a little bit problem with my device which is i can't even set my yahoo mail. I've tried manually set but still can't go through and it come out an error "Authentication Failed, Check ur username or password". My username and password are correct and also i've tried on htc magic as well, same problem.
This is the setting that i set:
Type: IMAP
Incoming: imap.mail.yahoo.com/outgoing: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Security: none
port: 143/25
Any solution?
I have read loads of stuff about this on various forums, some people say that you can change your mail settings in Yahoo (on a computer) so the preffered content setting is set to 'Yahoo! Asia' rather than 'Yahoo!UK' this will then allow POP forwarding... Other than that you can always upgrade to a Yahoo! Mail Plus account?!?!
Personally, this really annoys me that they expect you to pay for an account just to forward emails!!!
I would just use another account - Gmail/Hotmail...etc..
Apparently though, the above is supposed to work ok, but then it can stop working after a time. Good luck
Well, it's working just like u thought me. thanks man. Just change to "yahoo asia" then enable the POP & Forwarding option. ^.^ arigato gozaimasu.
hi, everybody.
just a quick post here. after about a month of use my hd2 decided to 'forget' every single password, including one wep for wifi, all my email account, wap access point. any ideas why that happened? and how to avoid it in the future
thanks
you could write them down in an agenda
Maybe there is a progam like KeePas, a database program what stores your passwords. I havent found on for WinMo yet tho
Keepass

Somehow my hotmail account stopped working on stock email client. I removed the account from the client and then attempted to login again. It shows following message on numerous attempts: "The attempt to sign in failed due to an invalid User name, Password, or incorrect settings. Please check your username, password and settings on the web, and try again. (301)"
I have spent around 2 days to sort this thing out and has done googling to find any solution, Appreciate the help.
I don't have a solution for your email client, but there is an official Hotmail app. It works very well on my S2 and it has address book integration as well. Perhaps you could give it a try.

Hi dear, Thanks for advice. I did downloaded and tried on the app as suggested. Again I have following message:
"the attempt to sign in failed due to an invalid email address and/or password. please check your email address and password and try again (300)"
I pinch myself to make sure I am typing everything right. However on browser it works alright. Any suggestion
How complex is your password? Any chance you can try changing your hotmail password to something simpler temporarily as a test to see if it is indeed a password issue?

Somehow a changed password did the trick.
I have the same issue, can you give me some info about your old ( ) password? For example, how long was it? Did it have any special non-numerical char in it? Cheers

Old password was 13 letters long mix of upper and lower case letters with some numbers. no non-numerical char.
At the risk of sounding like a stalker, how does the new one differ?
Mostly, is it shorter? Did the old one start with a number and the new one doesnt?
Mine is 20 chars long, has 2 "symbols", some numbers and it starts with a number. I'd really really like to find out where they cocked up with this

That (Bold) was the reason in my case.
Just a piece of information that hotmail does not take more than 16 letters/numbers/symbols etc as password.

Why is there this limit when authenticating from a mobile application, whichever that might be (the official app, the samsung email app, etc)?
I am afraid hotmail officials are the right people to tell you.
Hey fellow XDAers!
Quick question today: Is it possible to set up Exchange accounts on an Android phone (or in my case 100+ phones), but let the end user be prompted to enter the Username and Password when they start using the phone?
One solution might be to at least enter the Username up front, together with a bogus Password. This should give a wrong password message or similar and then prompt for the correct one, but is hardly an elegant solution. Also, it requires us to enter the correct user name in the correct phone, which generates significantly more work distributing the right phone to the right person.
Is there any better solutions out there from you brilliant XDA people?
Cheers
Anyone?
Hey, so I got this idea from a book and I was wondering if there's a way to make it possible if I root my phone. I want to have 2 separate user accounts but there is no option to switch accounts, the way you would access one is to type in its password (say 1234) and the way you access the other would be to type in its password (5678). So it doesn't look like there are multiple accounts, and if I need to give someone the password I can tell them 1234, but all my actual data is hidden unless I type 5678. Is that possible? I am willing to root my phone.
Thanks
