odin for note 2 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

OK, so I was trying to unroot my phone and some how managed to screw it up and now I have a system software not authorize on my screen. I can get to odin mode but I have one minor problem. I cant find a odin program that will install on my pc.... -.- I have files I have dl from other threads to unroot and restore my phone using odin, but when it comes to dl odin files, either the link is no longer available or it wont install. I get some message saying odin3.ini with a bunch of asian symbols after that. Can any one help me on this please.

Odin does not install to your computer, it simply launches.
What OS are you on? If you're on Windows Vista or 7 it should work perfectly, I don't know if it'll work on XP. On Mac I believe you use Heimdall. On Linux you use Heimdall.

Try to search for note 2 toolkit here on xda it has all the odin files and odin in one easy to use program.

The toolkit can be dangerous just because it had an unreleased firmware (it was what Samsung used to test the phone before they started selling it) that was the "return to stock" firmware, and I'm unsure if the creator ever removed it so it still probably has it, and was completely unrootable by all of our exploits, unable to be unlocked, and unable to be flashed in Odin so there is no way to get back to stock.
While the other things in the toolkit haven't had as many big complaints as the "return to stock" feature I still wouldn't use it. If it has that there is no telling what else is going on behind the scenes.

I know when I used it for Verizon it had 3 options I believe. But if he has the files downloaded already then I was simply recommending to see if this woukd run Odin on his pc.

This is the thread for droidstyle's guide to restore to stock. Has Odin download and all necessary files. Shangrila is right, be careful with that toolkit. Personally, I would stay completely away from it.

[Q] Cannot return Vibrant to stock

No matter what I do, this phone will not return to a stock unrooted state.
I have tried Odin. It freezes on DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!! or cache.rfs no matter what I do, no matter which computer I run it on, no matter which USB port I plug it into.
Heimdall also fails. It starts, claims that it is updating factory filesystem, then stops with no error message. Reattempting results in the error message "failed to retrieve config descriptor."
No matter what I do, I can't return this phone to stock! This will make it harder to sell if I ever do sell it, and plus, not being able to clean the slate means any 2.2 ROMs I flash have had serious lag problems, leaving me stranded on Eclair!
Help?
i had the same problem, i sent mine to t-mobile and they mailed me a replacement soon after.
I can't actually do that... this phone was purchased second-hand.
have you tried other versions of odin?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I've only tried Odin3v1.00 and Heimdall.
I can't find any downloads for other versions; all Google searches lead to v1.00.
look for the 1.3 in the bible section.

Try no version of odin. or close odin and reopen it, sometimes takes a few shots before it works

+1 for a newer version of Odin.
I thought I had perma-bricked my phone a month ago, but solved the flashing problem simply by using a newer version. Here is 1.7:

Can't unbrick u.s. 4.0 help please

Well... I've done it again... But this time I can't seem to unbrick it. I tried to flash hanthesolo's stratusrom but it failed and bootlooped. So I went and tried restore from a backup that had cm7. For some reason it bootlooped again. so I went in to Odin and tried to go back to stock just to get things working again. I failed and ended up going to stock recovery with a bunch of errors. So then I just panicked and tried flashing different combos of pit files and roms and stuff. Now I can boot into cwm. But I still can't restore from an older backup or revert to stock firmware. Any ideas???

Your bootloader wasn't unlocked. Use Odin to flash back to stock and make sure your bootloader is unlocked before flashing clean rom.

Odin is reconizing the drivers cause there is 'com' number so from what i understand the drivers are installed.
Heres my problem , Odin is going down the checklist (or whatever it is doing) when it gets to the sboot.bin it stops and says
< ID: 0/005'Complete write/ operation failed'
<OSM> All threads completed (succeed 0 / fail 1)
I would assume the ID is bc the 'com' nuber was 5
I think i have found evry thread out there to try and fix this via Odin.....but you guys are the experts
I dont know what else to do P L E A S E help all I want it to be is restored------
I downloaded the correct drivers directly from samsung
I had the same error /problem after installing twrp without realizing my bootloader was still locked. I followed the instructions in this link (1b directions) and flashed back to 4.1.1. Then took the 4.1.2 update and used Adams casual utility to root and unlock. I'm not an expert by any means but this worked for me.

Also make sure to use the "Alternate Restore" file as it does not contain the bootloader. It's a. Xz file and you will need to unzip it with 7zip or something else.

Yea I saw this thread- bottom line which download do I take? the : Official VRALJB 4.1.1 12/9/12
or: Root66 stock VRALJB 4.1.1 12/2/12
and Im not sure of the "alternate restore" file you are referring to...Im sorry
I am not an expert either....especially with the note II since I just got it via 3rd party SWAPPA bc of not wanting to loose my unlimited data. I was told it was unlocked and obviously I was F'd
Also- I saw this thread last night I downloaded the (Official VRALJB 4.1.1 12/9/12) and did the instructions to the "T" and still got failed-did I miss something...
I hope you or some others are out there to help me ....I would love to get this up and running
On the thread with the official there is a download link below the official and mirrors titled Alternate Restore. It doesn't contain the bootloader and I believe that is the file you need to use. If your bootloader is locked odin fails at the point where the file you're downloading tries to download the new bootloader, hence the need for the file without the bL. Does that make sense?

here are the steps. Flash root66 which will bring back your note to life and the software would be 4.1.1. Use Jailbreak tool to unlock the bootloader and you will be golden.

That is what I did. I read about the method droidxrooting said but can't personally speak for it (but I'm sure it works too). If you use the file I used just remember to unzip it even though it's not labeled a zip file and make sure you use the correct casual method.

I tried running JOdin on my mac, and it would not recognize my phone on download mode. Right now I'm installing Parallels to see if I can get it to work on windows, on my mac, eh.
update
A little update: So I finally managed to install windows on my mac, and after going through hell and back (Installing kies, etc), Odin finally noticed my phone while it was on download mode, flashing the firmware took like 10 seconds max, and my wifi was fixed.
I just finished flashing N3bula, and so far everything works.
So yea, definitely need Odin on windows to flash the firmware, JOdin wont work, neither will heimdall, nor Mobile Odin

I am reaching out for help. ODIN not flashing, and bricked.

Hello fellow members.
I have an S4 SCH-I545
I feel as if I'm out of options, I have read many forums for the past 3 days and cannot find a method that works. I am currently soft bricked and cannot get ODIN to successfully flash anything. When I pull the battery and try to boot it immediately takes me to ODIN Mode, and I can't seem to get into anything but that. Just recently it has given me a new image that says, "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I don't exactly know what it is referring to but I have Kies and there is only an emergency recover area and that does nothing.
Am I out of options? Any help is extremely appreciated.
If I left anything out let me know.

Alright, I know this is not the help/question/noob thread, but I'm I'm a pickle. Redirect me if you must. Verizon s4 that was on nc5 baseband-i don't know the bootloader, but it was 4.4.2 if that helps. Rooted with towel root and twrp through too manager. Yeah, I know that's where the problem came from. So now the phone is (hopefully) in a soft brick state stuck in down load or Odin mode. Odin recognizes the phone. I don't care to keep DAT or retain root, I just was it to function. Is the nc5 full wipe with the pit my correct next step? Thank you in advance, razz me if you must, I deserve it

Absolutely there is hope. We just need to know what exact build your phones were on prior to this soft brick. Then we'd know what Odin files to give you.
Then if there were still errors you could post them here for more help.

I had baseband nc5. It was android version 4.4.2. Phone worked and I rooted it with towel root, the phone was rebooted and checked root with rootchecker. Alright sorry to make you write that again.. I just now saw you included your quote from an earlier post.
Are you able to hop onto your PC and copy and paste what the Odin error is into this thread?
Trying to flash a custom recovery on anything other than MDK will certainly lead to a soft brick most of the time. However you should be able to recover your phone back.
Using the full wipe NC5 Odin file should do it.. However if that's not working for you only those errors being posted here will allow the right people to help you along.
May seem silly but have you tried simply trying another USB cable? I've seen people on here have Odin flashes fail just due to the cable.
Grab the Odin errors though if you can

also odin is very touchy with using usb cables, usb ports and computers
Looks like you are trying to Odin to an image that was lower firmware than what your phone was on. You might want to try flashing the full wipe nc5 image that has been posted. I can't link to it now as I'm on my phone but if you Google Odin full wipe Verizon nc5 it should bring you to the proper xda thread to get the file.

Yep, from the thread you suggest.......... "The number one reason people brick their Verizon Galaxy S4 phones is due to attempts to flash recovery using Goo Manager, dd, and other tools without understanding when those will or won't work. The Verizon S4 is very locked down, and will reject such attempts in most cases."

So I followed what you said and ended up using this guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735172
I did the full wipe version, and it was successful, however I still cannot boot. It will give me the samsung icon with the unlocked padlock, and then just go black, I still can boot into ODIN mode but not into recovery. Any idea what's going on?

Try booting into stock recovery and do a Factory Data Reset and wipe cache then reboot.

Also once you're back to stock run Tri Angle Away to get rid of that annoying CUSTOM screen at boot lol can't stand that thing and on my phone it can make getting into CWM a pain as well.

I can't seem to get into stock recovery either. I tried re-flashing and I still get the same results, when I try to boot into recovery I get the Samsung logo with the unlocked padlock, and then it just shuts down. :/
