Okay I am not sure if this the right place to start this thread, moderators please feel free to move it.
But more importantly the app I am looking for is a app which can control the bandwidth each app uses in the phone.
Why am I looking for this app.
I use a 1 gb 3g Internet package and I use Tango to video chat with my gf. Due to this tango sucks like 500 kbps and I run out of Internet juice very early. Now the thing is tango works fine with 50 kbps too. But how do I control how much bandwidth tango takes.
Please note I am not looking for the app to tell me or warn me of my usage but to limit it as in if my 3g gives me 5mbps I want to cap it at 1mbps.
So any one knows a app that can do this please reply.
Also I have exhausted my Google and xda search skills for 2 days looking for something like this but seem to have no luck. Hence this thread.
Thanks

Anyone?

I have spent a almost 12 hrs now looking for a app that does this and still getting nowhere. The closest I cam was a app that let's u decide which app uses 3g and which uses wifi. That is nothing regarding limiting my Internet speed.

Droidstats pro can do it. But you have to pay $$.

Thanks but Droidstats premium doesn't have any features to set the cap on bandwidth.

I would imagine every new Note owner goes through a period where people comment on the size of the note. My daughter posted on Facebook, that "I'm out of control." My wife calls it a Pop Tart. I'd like to think they're all just a bit jealous that I can read ebooks and watch TV or movies without squinting.
Anyway, a few rookie questions if you wouldn't mind:
I'm running Only One on my ATT I717 and love it, but trying to learn about modems. Is there a tutorial?
Also, is there a good GPS progam? I had TomTom on my 3GS but doesn't look like it's offered for Android.
Thanks
I prefer Navigon for gps. Most feautures and best forming. 2 others to look at are Ndrive and Sygic. What do you need to know about modems? Not much to tell unless you are running the phone on T-mobile. Looks like you might be since you mentioned 3gs. If you do then this thread might get you started. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573568
Thanks. I had an IPhone 3GS with TomTom.
Is 4G the same as LTE on ATT.
There's a thread about boosting data speed and they refer to UCLE2, 5, etc. Does this apply to ATT, or only T-Mobile?
I've heard a bit about Navigon and it seems solid but the reviews it gets don't seem all that reassuring for me to spend that kind of money. Google's navigation app has worked great for me and does more than enough. I've also used Waze. It's got a clean interface and nice traffic info plus it's free!

4G and LTE are totally different. 4G is an improved version of 3G. LTE is another technology. Not all areas have LTE.

If you have a data connection the Google is great. Waze looks ok but it needs data also and has all that social integration. Guessing this app is hard on the Note's battery. How does it run for you? If you want an offline gps app then you need to fork out the dough. No app is perfect for everyone and reviews are tough on paid gps apps. Navigon gets it done especially when you are in an area with no data.
I use Map Quest for gps works great and it's free.

Waze hasn't taxed my battery too bad but I can see how it would become a bit of a hog. True, I could do without the social integration as well but it isn't too bad. I've since resorted soley on the Google navigation app. I hear you about the offline capabilities, Navigon would be nice to have when data isn't available. I rarely don't have access to data so that hasn't posed much of a problem for me with gps. You're right, the choice definitely depends on the person.

I'm only telling them that in a year they are gonna have the same size phone... I'm ahead of time.... and look what's around the corner and gonna sell like no tomorrow.... the galaxy s3.... that phone is damn near the same size.... a tad smaller. Bet the go after that.... look its all good to have the second biggest phone.... nobody wants the biggest.... that are nuts. Where ever I am around ppl I don't know or friends that havent seen my phone yet whenever I get it out the immediately ask if its a tablet or a phone...I'm kinda starting to get annoyed lol.
I was using Google maps walking navigation today...first time on this phone...on Rodeo Dr. in Beverly Hills. I know the accurancy is great (for whatever reason ICS is taking longer to get a lock), but I was stunned that the arrow was precisely where I was walking but the compass is crazy sensitive, looked like I was walking sideways at times.
So yea that's my little non helpful blurb on the subject...I should probably go to sleep since its 3am and I'm ranting...

My wife calls it my Kindle.
Google maps is getting offline capabilities soon. At that point there won't be any need for another app.
Google bought quick office! Not only did they make it free!! But they are giving everyone that downloads it and signs in an extra 10 gigs of space for your Google drive for two years so in total it's 15 gigs!!! Just thought I should let my friends at xda know

Hi,
I'm getting my Nexus 10 today and my primary reason for it is so I can Skype with my wife while I am deployed over seas.
I have used Skype in the past but I see there are several apps for video conferencing.
I am usually in a location that has limited bandwidth. Given that limitation, can anyone give recommendations for the best one on one video client?
Thanks
When I was out of the country my wife and I used both Skype and Google hangouts. Sometimes one would work better than the other, depending upon lousy hotel WiFi.
+1

Either one. Are you going to baf? Skype over dialup speeds usually isnt bad, sometimes audio only.bring a good headset with mic as privacy is is paramount over there. Be safe.

One big feature that this phone is missing that I wish it had in it is the always on voice recognition that the moto x has. Upon getting this phone I assumed that I would be forever without this feature. However, upon doing some research I discovered that the snapdragon 800 processor has a dedicated voice recognition core just like the moto x, the only difference being that nobody has taken advantage of it. So, since I'm not a developer by any means, I decided that I would turn to the amazing developers here at XDA to see what they could whip up.
Requirements:
-Must work on AOSP ROMs. (I use Houston's PA 4.0)
-Must actually use the voice recognition core as to not demolish battery life.
-Preferably in a flashable zip (although not required)
-must work on all variants of those who pitched into bounty.
I will kick off the bounty with $15 to whomever can get this working.
Running total: $45
Ghstudent: $15
Jeev_one: $15
Pools200: $10
Lotuse:$5

According to the developer of Open Mic+, Qualcomm is only willing to share the code to access the low power mode with manufacturers right now. I'm not saying it's impossible, just not especially likely right now

Moto x isn't using Google voice or Google now. It's using a third party voice recognition app.

I just picked one up today at best buy today to scratch the itch that I've had for a while now. Idk if many like the idea but I'll give my initial impressions.
First off pro and con
* the band it comes with. Reason being is the one I got(which surprised me since I thought it would come with the rubber one) is metal and no one could get the links out. I am the definition of a skinny person. I had to buy the tool which arrives tomorrow.
Pros
* I like the screen size and being touch. (I was debating between the pebble also) looks good enough to satisfy.
* the notifications work better than I thought. The vibration when you get a text fb or any sort of notification is nice since I rarely feel it in my pocket.
*can control the play music app through the watch so I don't have to mess with the phone wile driving
Con's
* Facebook extension if you just choose the ppl you want it to show up doesn't seam to stay logged in.
*still skeptical since I was on the fence about getting one. Maybe a few days with it I'll start to enjoy it.
If you have questions I'll try to answer them for you

Yes this one work with all androids. I like the fact that I don't have to go to my pocket to check to see about a message. I don't always feel it when it vibrates since I don't like the sound. Its really easy to see it sun light just not in the dark with out turning on the back light

Letting y'all know I'll be returning the smart watch just the few days I've had it the watches battery got better but my phones battery dropped from 5 hours of screen on to 1-1/12 hrs. I'm not around a charger that often. I can't have it die on me that quick. I loved it just thought it would help battery life since I wouldn't be turning the screen on that often
