Hey devs out there...
Is there a way to make the Motorola's recent cool update in the MOTO-X which they call the "TOUCH FREE XYZ" :cyclops:
Actually the device wakes up with voice commands.
Also another feature like its called the "PEEK VIEW" :silly:
Thanks.

Doesnt s-voice already do all that???
Well it does only when activated with the "double-tap home key" action.
But this thing, MOTO-X wakes up just by saying "OK GOOGLE" which takes no button actions.
Just google the MOTO-X and u'll know how it works

You probably have your settings wrong then. if the "Wake up command" option is set, you just say "Hi Galaxy" (i think you can programme it too) and it wakes up without pressing home buttons.

well yes u r right
but u again will have to say the command like may be "Start Google Now" or something like that or just anything.
But this MOTO-X from Motorola actually has 2 extra voice-cancelling microphones + the primary microphone making them all 3 which makes it easy to take commands.
And the best part is that it doesn't have any inbuilt voicecommand app (i guess) and therefore you just wake the device by saying "OK GOOGLE" which actually means it directly activates google now and we have the liberty to say just anything
Note: Am not here to market the MOTO-X coz i actually have not liked the moto products ever since am into mobiles. Its just that the features (the 2 mentioned particularly) are appealing to me and may be to others too, i hope. Moreover i just love SAMSUNG. so, eace:
I dont really remember but i happened to go thru an app in the playstore which provides the "Peek View" feature but the disapp is that it only supports the 4.3 builds.

"Hi Galaxy , open google now" is far too much effort.

I think most of moto x software features will come from 3rd party apps once 4.3 support APIs are implemented

Just notice that S3 has a new feature, Smart stay. It is a good feature and am looking for long. Sometimes, I have a couple of notes to do a public speech and would like to put it in my mobile. Unfortunately, after a couple of seconds, the display becomes dim and locked. It is very cumbersome to unlock the unit. Is there any utility app to give me the similar feature? Thanks!
you can simply use "screen on" app from the market, it will allow your screen to be awake until you close the app(any app) use on speech.
do ask your questions in Q&A thread next time
Or you can use intelliScreen, has some more functions than ScreenOn.
Both should be more energy efficient than the Smart Stay feature, because the camera isn't used here.
Wonder why Samsung used this method instead of a definition per app -.-

defention per app needs manual work, smart stay is actually indeed smart , no need of manual work to setup the apps and it also turns the screen off only when the user is not seeing the screen.

Yes, there is and is in development. Unfortunately, the thread has been closed. you can try here:

It's in beta but should work during the beta.
So this weekend i was driving around with my Note in its window mount and started thinking. What i really need is a way to trigger either Google Now or some other third-party app with voice-only controls. that way i could say Text Mom: Hi mom: and the phone would do so. Same with music, directions, calling etc.
As it stands, i have to manually activate these functions with physical contact. Is there any app out there that would listen for a key phrase to start an action?
Siri.
Or it's android counterpart ...."Skyvi "
Available on the play store..
I've toyed with it, and it's not bad.....g

Besides Siri on the iphone, the only thing I can find thats close is "assistant" in the market. Skyvi is only for sms, but assistant lets you create voice shortcuts. But nothing is handsfree - you have to wake up the phone and touch the app icon.

S-Voice.....just say "Hi, Galaxy!" To wake her up, and she'll carry out your orders without as much as a touch...how often can you say that about the other females in your life? You can even give her an alternate nickname, may I suggest a couple?:
Lea
Sexy
Smarty McSmartypants
Baby
Momma
The Esemesinator
Fatty
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Anyone else? He he. PM me. I'm looking to name my new computer. Just don't take over this poor guy's thread.

Unfortunately, the always on "ok Google" Google now feature only works on Jellybean and above. There were several hacks that allowed for it to somewhat work on ICS, but had very limited functionality. As other Google components were updated some of the features that did work on the hacked version ceased functioning. It was a game of cat and mouse for awhile where the devs would come up with a work around, but then Google would disable the hack. Finally, the devs just gave up on the project and moved on. Remember, ICS is now almost 3 year's old, so next to nothing is being developed for it any more.
You can search here on xda for Google now for ICS and try out the hacked version, but as I said it has only limited capability.
I hope this helped.
Ciao
"OK Google."

Bear in mind that with ICS and the gapps and their updates that go with ICS, you can press the "Search" soft-key or otherwise launch "Google Now", and your searcher will pop-up with the option to say, "OK Google" to your heart's content.
I understand this isn't the floating "Google Now" or availability overlayed on all screens, however it is the "OK Google" functionality.
The voice search is such a downer! it hardly works right with any of the calendar related stuff. Even one of the built in suggestions "Agenda for today" does not work when you speak it. Anyone else seeing this? My phone is a nexus 5 running latest kit kat.
In fairness it looks like google now even on my phone does not do any of this well!

Hi guys,
Recently I bought an S9+ and so far I'm loving it. The only issue I have is with this stupid Bixby who can't do anything beside telling me jokes and making reminders.
So, I've been looking far and wide on how to replace, not just disable, Bixby. The post on debloating is great, but it won't let me have Google Assistant answer when I press the Bixby button.
In conclusion, is there a guide on how to replace Bixby with GA at all? Or at least a modified ROM, because even if I like the stock version of Android (Had a moto Z3 before), I got used to the Samsung Experience.
Thank you!
i deactivated it with package disabler and remapped the button with bxactions

You can use a different launcher such as rootless pixel launcher or Nova to get the feed on the left, but not sure you can set it to Google feed if you're just using Samsung experience (I may be wrong)

Well I can cherry pick that article too, "And what they have been working on looks impressive enough that it could lift Bixby out of obscurity and give*Google, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft*a run for their money. It also uses artificial intelligence to write algorithms capable of performing far more complex tasks, such as booking hotel rooms or buying flowers, all from commands that users speak into their phone, their fridge, their TV or any other of the 1 billion Samsung devices that by next year will be running Bixby. But it's not always the first to market that is the ultimate winner,"

Could. Yep. And it could somehow cause aliens to come down and murder us all. But that's hardly a reason to suggest that Bixby is a worthy competitor NOW, which is what you're doing.
