[CWM][NOT WORKING] Throttle Bypass - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

I stayed up until 4 AM working on this....lol. Basically, it's a combination of kevev's apns-conf.xml and jovy23's ThrottleService.smali. I take no credit for this.
Okay. What I have done is modify apns-conf.xml following kevev's instructions to replace all instances of pcweb.tmobile.com with epc.tmobile.com.
ThrottleService.smali is located in /System/framework/services.jar and it manages the data cap.
I have tested it on my 2.5 GB tethering plan and have exceeded that amount by 500 MB. No throttle warning at all. Everything is working fine. As always....I am not responsible if you mess up your phone. Use at your own risk. And I can never stress this enough....MAKE A BACKUP!!!!
FOLLOW THESE STEPS.....
1) Remove the LG upsell apk.
2) Copy the CWM flashable zip to the root of sd card.
3) Flash the zip using CWM.
4) Reboot.
5) You may get a SIM error message. Don't panic. Just reboot again. Done.

Already throttled but installed anyway. No errors just gotta wait a month

No, it will not. Your Note uses a different kind of services.jar file. Using this on your phone will result in not getting past the boot animation.

OK stupid question here,
Does this only work to remove throttled notification? Or it actually makes me have unlimited 4g (I'm on 500mb plan)

Good question. I believe the throttling is on the T-Mobile side. I don't think it has anything to do with our devices. I may be wrong though.

I have this installed I'm on a 2gb plan I usually hit the cap the last couple days of my billing cycle. Will report back in a couple weeks.

No... it must be before reaching the limit. Afterwards, the speed should remain 4G.
I've exceeded my 2.5 GB plan by 1 GB so far.... and no warnings nor reduction of speed.
But on the other hand, if you have not received a T-Mobile warning then it worked. Go to speedtest and look at the results, dude. Let me know.

Throttle remover

Has anyone made a throttle remover for ics yet?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
You don't get throttled...so why would you need a remover?
If you're throttled I've been told by Verizon it's because you're congesting the tower you're currently at. I guess that means if you're in a different area than where you sucked down all those GBs you should be normal speed.
But Nah not that I've seen. No throttle remover.

wildstang83 was one of the people making these things maybe try pm'ing him. For what its worth Verizon throttles on their end not the phone end so its just a placebo effect.
Also from what I can remember Verizon had once said that if they do throttle you it will remain in effect till the end of your billing cycle. That was over a year ago and things change so I could be wrong. I've also heard they won't throttle 4g but have never seen anything in writing from Verizon but it makes sense as it can handle larger loads.

There's a way to unthrottle over on Rootzwiki that works for any phone with init.d support. If you search for PowerBoost it is located in that thread. I have used it on 3G at my house before I got 4G on Sunday and for the 3G parts of my commute and can tell you it certainly works.

Hotspot Tether without root for unlimited Users

I am currently stuck on the update without root like many.. but the main reason I root is for tether for my unlimited account.. I downloaded and paid for foxfi (now also pdanet) and it obviously didn't work a few weeks back.. however a new update today and the wifi hotspot works.. creates a vpn to work, but I am currently on it now.. update says for the maxx hd and others doesn't list the dna but I can confirm it works.. maybe worth the 5 bucks to someone here. Just a heads up.. (created this account just for this thread, I usually only lurk)

Great news. Finally! I'll try it.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I have the DNA, and an unlimited plan. By default, when you try to tether up it will tell you to call your carrier to subscribe. You can do it, but you need to be rooted. If you are rooted then install the Android Wifi Tether app from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether
Once you run the app use the following settings:
Device-Profile: Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Setup-Method: Auto
Enable "WiFi-driver reload"
Enable "Routing fix"
This should get you up and going.
But we're not rooted. This is "tether without root" discussion. If you're rooted, sure, you can use wifi tether no problem. The problem is to tether without root.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
If you get the latest wireless tether beta from Google there is an option for non root tether. I haven't been able to test it because I'm rooted but someone should try it.

From what I have read is that they can cancel your unlimited data if you are negatively effecting others experience.
Which can mean what ever they want it to really, but also you have the unlimited data to do as you please as long as

So I really don't know on this topic.

They can charge for the stock Wi-Fi hotspot app service, but if you use something else I think it's exempt...

Tethering works perfectly for me on ARHD 10.2 (which is what I'm guessing you meant to type). Just go to settings, hit more, mobile network shareing, then go into portable wifi hotspot settings, name your hotspot and PW, then hit the checkbox. I had no problem.
Just curious, when you did your install with AROMA, did you hit AT&T, or international?

No.... Using the "phone" apn yes, at 5GB of usage I get throttled down to .047mbps down.
Then I just switch over to the wap.cingular APN and BAM pulling 6-10mbps down on H+/3G. No throttling here..
This thread is a bit confusing to me.
Are you guys saying AT&T charges extra for tethering?
ATT charges $$$ for a seperate data plan which lets you tether Internet, which is also limited to about 5gb or 3gb, not too sure. If you use tethering on a regular phone (stock rom with bloatware- fresh from the store), they would probably charge you for tethering because of the detection apk they put in there.
The way to bypass this is to use a custom rom, Internet tethering should work on it, maybe you could reflash/ reset the phone (all the settings and whatnot) maybe try a different rom?
Also, I diddnt know you could bypass ATT throttle, could you post all the complete APN settings to do that?
Cheers,
OK, please forgive me for being slow. You only save money if you're tethering from a phone with unlimited data plan, right? If you're on a limited plan, it doesn't matter and AT&T should not charge you extra, right?

If you go over the limit on a limited plan, they charge you extra $$$. I think it is $20 for 1 more GB.
If you are detected tethering on a stock ATT phone, they will probably charge you for tethering plan
If you are on unlimited data, you may lose it (plan) if you are detected tethering (stock phone),
if you go over limit 5GB for 4g LTE phone they will just throttle you.
Undetected tethering/ Custom ROM with removed att protection = only worry about going over the limit
Cheers,

I agree. The only thing Att or carriers look at is the amount of data being used periodically or the mac/ip address. Carriers have the ability to tell the difference from our phone using data or tethering, especially if data patterns changes.

You only get 500 mb on that plan. How much data do you think a movie consumes? You should have used Wi-Fi or something

Yea streaming movies takes a whole lot of data.
I'm still on the older contract plans. I pay $35 for 5gb and includes tethering.

No wifi at my girls house. I knew I would get throttled but 116k lol

Country of freedom... with so many restrictions(you are prohibited to root your phone,fm radio restriction, wifi tethering restriction, pay for this and pay for that,...).Big brother is really BIG... Data plans are so expensive in your country.

I have created a flashable CWM zip which includes a modified services.jar and apns-conf.xml and am testing it now. I have consumed 2.3 GB of my 2.5 GB allowance.
I will let you know how it works out.
I pay 15 a month for unlimited data, no tethering, wish t-T-Mobile would have just expanded out their HSPA+ network instead of starting up these LTE markets though.

Well they bought metro pcs, which still has their 55$ a month unlimited talk/text/[email protected] plan.

I know that they're an MLM and all, but have you looked at Solavei? 49 before tax for 4GB of data, with roaming, and unlimited talk/text. I've been using it lately, and it seems to be pretty solid, though you're going to have to unlock the phone (I just bought a code on eBay). PlatinumTel also has 2GB for 45 before tax, I've heard they're a decent choice as well. Both networks run on T-Mobile. If you decide to go with Solavei, use my link, if you could, it's solavei.com/ my username.

I may just look for another phone. At home I get no service in a "high coverage area" so I'm forced to rely on wifi calling. Worst part is my phone constantly pulling signal from at&t. They appear on my network operator list for some reason.

If you select your network operator manually(not "choose automatically"),it should stay on that...

It seems to stay on it until I totally lose service then it does what it wants. 90 percent of the time it gives me an error when I try to pull up the list anyway. Today I'm fluctuating between full 2g to no service every 10 minutes at a jobsite I've always had full 4g. I'm a bit over it honestly.

And what if you set phone signal to "use only 2G" or "only WCDMA"? You can put widget for this on home screen and just switch to preferred or strongest signal when you need this.

Yes I noticed & called multiple times about it ... I used to get well over 10-12Mbps and sometimes up to over 21mbps ... but when i made the change .. the speed struggles to get past 900-1000 !!! I thought to my self maybe its the rom im using .. wind mobile rom with apps 2sd ... but i doubt it ... what is your high speed data limit ... i get 5gb ... you ???
I also have the 5 gb plan. Before the change, like you, I was getting speeds up to 10 mb now after the change I'm struggling to get 1 mb. Sometimes I'll get a little over 1 mb but it never hits 2 mb.Guess there's a catch to everything. Also I am running the stock jb so it's not your Rom.

You guys are still smoking my 50$ 500mb data already throttled @ 116k speeds

Glad too know its not the rom .. in a way !!! I guess now we actually have 3g speeds ... lol ... Its good enough for what i do and at l can still tether to other devices .. So im not yoo mad about it .. plus with the faster speeds i used to have with only 1gb allotment .. im better off... I would used most of my data up doing speedtest !!!
I recommend straight talk. 45 for unlimited all. I don't know if they have the micro sim available now, but I cut mine. Speed is reliable and fast enough for daily use. There are many threads about ST TMO service on xda; search it.

I get a discount on the Wal-Mart Family Mobile cause I work at Sam's Club. The speed may seem slow but it's enough to do everyday things. I streamed music tonight at work and it didn't buffer any. I've also watched a couple of YouTube videos and it streams fine.
