I bought a SanDisk 32Gb MicroSDHC Class 10 (UHS-1) first, but had to return it due to periodic "card disconnected" messages. I've always thought SanDisk is one of the best flash memory brands, but many people reported problems with S4.
Samsung 32GB Pro MicroSDHC (UHS-1) has been working great for me so far.

Hmm alright leaning towards the Samsung...any more feedback?
I pretty much gave up on the 64gb Samsung and stuck in an older 64gb Sandisk & have had no problems (fat32). I formatted the Samsung multiple times in different formats and always ended up with 1) the stock music player unable to use it and/or 2) my recovery (TWRP & CWM) unable to use it. From all I've read I'm in a minority as most seem to have good results with the Samsung cards.

FWIW, I went with the Samsung just because people were having issues with the SanDisks. And it's was pretty much the best priced one on Amazon. Formatted it to Fat32 and have not had any issues.
Sandisk has identified the problem and has launched a new firmware to fix the compatibility issues their cards have been having with Samsung devices. If you buy a card out of the factory, you will have zero issues. I bought one a while back and was having the "SD Card Unexpectedly Removed" issue. They sent me one a few weeks later with the new firmware.
I would go Sandisk just because they are definitely a bigger name in SD cards, and if you experience any problems they will send you a new one no problem.
Update on my Samsung card. Formatted on the phone and all seems fine. Still exFat the way it was shipped - also formatted it exFat using my laptop - but the phone format appears to fix my problems.

Looks like there is a 64G micro SD by Sandisk. Will be good for my collections of lossless music.

Many claim that it works even on old Android devices. Just wonder if any Galaxy Player owners tried this yet?
Update:
Finally got one. Similar to the experience of other users, the player will think that the SD card is corrupted when mounted for the first time. Once you format it as instructed, it will work fine.
I have attached a couple of screenshots below for those who are interested. Two of the screenshots are benchmark of 64G Sandisk (Class 6) vs 32G Lexar (Class 10).

I think I read somewhere that the SDXC I cards are somewhat compatible with older devices but not fully. That "I" degignation is new and not supported by older SDHC devices. In older devices, the "I" cards would work at a slower speeds, I believe. In this case, Class 6... I think I have seen SDXC I cards being advertised as 50Mb/sec read speeds... at class 6, that would drop do avg. 6Mb/sec... so you loose the speed the "I" standard brings but the larger capacity always sounds good. In saying so, I have not tried these. I am however, very tempted...

I'd imagine it will work just fine. You just won't be able to take advantage of the "advanced speed" aspect.
If your interested in it, just purchase it with Paypal and return it if it doesn't work. I'd give it a try, but I'm fine with my 32GB + 16GB cards at this time.

And most important... if it works and can read the card!

That's a good news. I will probably take the plunge and report back. As for speed, class 6 should be sufficient for music storage. I used to use class 4 for that purpose, it was a bit pain to load the music onto it for the first time but playing music from it is not an issue.
Like Galaxy Player only supports 32Gb, sorry for my English
Works fine on my 5.0, formatted to FAT32, speeds around class 6 using r14 kernel on international
I am using one on the 5.0 U.S version.

So does the Galaxy wifi 4 player support this type of 64GB micro sd card?
It would be great news if it did.

Hi Ryzir.
I'd be interested if you could explain exactly what you did to make a 64GB microSD card work on a stock 4.0...?
I've tried formatting a 64GB Sandisk microSD card to FAT32 and my 4.0 doesn't recognise the card at all...
When I first inserted the card into the 4.0 it came up with some error (corruption?) and I selected format. Been working perfectly ever since.
I should note that I'm in the US. I believe there are slight differences between US and INT version.
Frustrating

I'm using what I think is the US version or at least with US language...still no joy. The card isn't recognised at all.
Unless you can offer more information looks like I'll have to continue without...or perhaps see if I can buy a UK based one....
The only other thing I can think of to suggest is to try and format with SD Formatter (Google it I can't post link yet)
FWIW I'm using SanDisk - Mobile Ultra 64GB microSDXC Class 6 Memory Card (Model: SDSDQY-064G-A11A)

:-( Unfortunately doesn't look like any kind of reformatting is going to make my Galaxy S Wifi 4.0 compatible with a 64GB microSD card...
Oh well I guess I'll have to way until they (or someone else) provides an alternative device with appropriate support.

Did you get the sandisk one mentioned above? And have you considered the possibility of a "bad out of box" situation? they can happen especially with electronics this small, I had a Kingston DDR laptop memory (best in the business IMHO) that was "bad out of box" so it is possible.

I did use a Sandisk card and I've managed to use it in another device (an Android tablet) without a problem.
I'm really very confused..I can only assume that I'd need to root my device perhaps...or...well I don't know. It's really very annoying and frustrating.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I doubt rooting would make a difference, but at the same time there's no reason not to. (i had mine rooted within 6 hours of getting it out of the mailbox, and I had NEVER touched android before that moment) Maybe try rooting and flashing a popular custom ROM, Like Klins R5 and the Terrasilent kernel, at the very least doing the terrasillent (or any kernel available) along with rooting will give you the ability to use voodoo sound, and that alone is worth doing it for.
thats just weird, it reading in the other android means it should be good to go in the player.
I am looking to buy a 64gb SD card for my GNote2. I have read some reviews and have been leaning towards the Sandisk 64gb Ultra. I would like some feedback on people's preferences or some advice on what would be the best 64gb card to buy?
I just got the sandisk 64Gb ultra after doing some research , it is the perfect memory for it. Very fast.
Just make sure to format it fat32. And use directory bind to point your apps to it.

Great thanks! So when I get it, just go ahead and format it on my PC (fat32) and I am good to go?
No do not format it to fat32. It is not necessary our note2 accepts exfat format and that will be the way it is shipped. Mine read perfect the moment I popped it in. I did format it in the phone and have over 30gb downloaded to it. 0 issues.
I have read issues with formatting it to fat32 and in the instructions it even warns against it.
When I got mine, it came exfat as well,
But my pc and phone did note like it.
Phone would eject the SD and pc write speed was super slow and would get error. Fat32 fixed all that.
Now SD is superfast now and working great.
I formated it with sd format tool thinking that may yhe issue. But it was not

How is this statement true? I have SanDisk cards in my phone and I also videotape weddings and use SanDisk cards as well and have never had a problem. A lot of people buy them off ebay and they turn out to be fake so they become corrupt. You can't just say that Samsungs are more reliable.

No and if that's the reason for the fat32 format I apologize because I am not swapping int/ext.
My speeds were soso and I ran the lag fix app in the market and the card reads at 629mbps and writes at 9ish Mbps . seems good to me. Transfered 1gb file to PC in about 2 mins.
If you root and do custom roms you should do FAT32 because not all kernels (both for recoveries and for roms) have a good exFAT driver. TWRP, for example, doesn't support exFAT at all last I checked, so you wouldn't be able to read/write roms and backups from your SD card if you use TWRP with an exFAT card. FAT32 works fine though. I'm not sure the exact kernels and recoveries that are affected by this (I would expect recoveries and AOSP ROMs to be affected and TouchWiz to not really care).
Note that by default Windows doesn't let you format disks FAT32 that are bigger than 32GB; you can download a utility that will let you do it. I assume you could do it in Linux w/ mkfs.msdos -F 32, but I didn't try it when I did mine.
I dunno, I'm exfat and made a backup. I have a ROM. I may make another backup and test a flash
TWRP 2.4 supports exFAT now, however you may find that your ROM may not. I ended up formatting to FAT32 for it to detect in CM10.1.

I will just leave or at exfat, fat32 has a 4gb limit per file. Swap doesn't concern me as I have plenty of internal space for those things.
So when I got my S4 I had a 32GB sandisk card (don't know what class it was, came with my HTC thunderbolt). Needed more room, so I bought this. My sd card f*cking unmounts 4/5 a day. When it does I have to reboot it and take it out until it fixes itself. Then it'll go a week or two without any problems. My 32GB sd card did the same thing, just not as often, and I gave that 32gb sd card to my girlfriend who got the AT&T version of the S4 and it did it to her a few times, she accidently had the phone format it, now she has no problems... the 64gb is formatted to exFat, I'm in the processs of formatting it to fat32 and transferring data as we speak, but am I the only one with this issue? I read on the CleanRom thread that S4 have issues with SanDisk brands, someone said they switched to Kingston becauee their S4 wouldn't mount their sandisk.
Is it software / root related? because my girlfriend is stock unrooted and hers works fine and it's an older card but it's also not the same size or class (honestly I know it's not just asking maybe there's a mount issue with debloated firmware) Or is it a defected card/phone?
The card itself is fine. Reads fine on my pc. I checked the sectors and partition with Ubuntu gparted utility and it passed the tests... but I still heard they can be defected and it's a big problem and they'll replace it.
Anyone have a 64gb sandisk class 10 and wanna give me their experience?

My advice is don't format the card to fat32 as fat32 causes data loss over time. Had it happen to me. Stick with exfat
Mine does the same thing...64gb...damaged or it unmounts. Not sure what is going on. I'm almost thinking its a software issue or incompatible with this phone. Never had this issue with my S3.

TL;DR: Buy a class 4 SD card
I bought the S4 on day 1 and started having the unmount issues with my 64GB SanDisk Class 10. When it started messing up my Spotify, I knew I had to try and figure it out. Well after testing with 4 S4s (2 of them mine as I returned my first S4 because of this issue), and a bunch of SD cards, I really think it comes down to the class. Class 4 provides a faster random write speed than 10s do, and I think that might help the issue. Both class 4's that I tested did not (and have not) unmounted once yet.
I bucked up the cash and bought all of these cards brand new for the testing. I ended up returning the Class 10's that I could and keeping both the Class 4's - 1 for a co-worker.
SD Cards Tested:
SanDisk 64GB Class 10 (x3) - One was brand new
SanDisk 32GB Class 10 (x2) - One was brand new
SanDisk 64GB Class 4 (x1) - Brand New
SanDisk 32GB Class 4 (x1) - Brand New
I have an open case with SanDisk and they are testing one of my 64GB Class 10's right now, and then are supposed to send me back another new 64GB Class 10 to help solve the issue. Pretty sure that one is going to unmount too though :silly:

Try fat32 no issues so far, but you're right I think it's an s4 issue because my brothers note 2, my two friends note 2, and an s3 all used my card fine with no problems.

Idk about your unmount problem, but u suspect bad card, I just got my 64gb replaced that had an issue like that.
Fat32 is only bad for 64gb cards because fat32 apparently doesn't officially support file systems over 32gb. 32gb cards obviously don't have that problem.

I have a WiFi only 32GB XTZ (purchased in the US) with the latest software (4.2.2) I tried using a Kingston 64 GB micro SD card I bought on eBay for real cheap ($20) but itrs been giving me all sorts of problems. I have no idea if its a class 3 or class 10, but its just not getting along with the tablet. Movies not playing well, telling me its damaged, asking me to foremat it, etc etc.
So I popped in a 32 GB card that was in my phone and that worked without a hiccup! No problems what so ever.
Does this tablet just not like 64 GB SD cards or is my card just really crappy and that's why it was so cheap?
According to the Sony User Guide - the tablet supports up to 32GB Micro SD. But then in software update section it says, the latest update allows it to support 64GB!
Thanks guys.

I was having some problems with "SD card unexpectedly removed" when using the SD card I've had a couple years but I replaced it with one of the exact same spec/type/size and haven't had another SD problem since. I'm betting it's your card.

I will try another card as it may not like this one for some reason !

I'm getting issues with card being lost when moving a file & sometimes after attached via usb to computer.
When happens card shows up as zero space & need unmount & remount.
Card is a kingston 64gb class 10 sdxc & is very new as bought with intention of using in this phone. card seems faultless when in reader on computer & also works fine in my old hd2 !
I assume poor firmware/hardware huawei end to blame !! kind of seeing why it cheap to buy now as everything worse than my old hd2 on wm6.5.5 lol ...
Any others experienced sd card issues ?

Honor 5x won't recognize my Samsung Evo 64gb, but my Samsung S4 will.
Tried it in an adapter, but ubuntu cannot access it... Not sure what the issue is yet.
Issue appears 5x is bit fussy on cards, sloppy hardware/firmware !
I got my Kingston changed by retailer & replacement just same yet works in everything else A1 .
I went my Huawei retail store as only 5 minute walk up road in my nearest mall, told them issue & tried card in 2 display handsets & had same issue within 15 minutes of testing. There answer was only use 32gb card :-/ not helpful.
I will be trying a samsung, sandisk & Toshiba card this week from 2 friends so interesting see results.
You get what pay for & seems 5x no exception, it cheap & hardware/firmware also cheap minimal effort .

I had problems with a Sandisk Ultra 64gb and replaced it with a 64gb Samsung Evo and it works fine. did you try formatting the card with the phone under settings / storage.
Edit: I see your computer don't see it , you most likely got a bad one and need a refund / replacement

It's about 3 years old. not sure why it still works in the samsung, but i had another 64 gb laying about. Using that one in the 5x untill i figure out whats wrong with the samsung
As I mentioned on the other thread. 2 X PNY 128 GB had problems with this honor 5X but its work fine with my LGs and Windows 10 laptop.

Edited.... a new PNY 128GB sent by PNY replacement worked fine. I think during that time when I have that 2 PNY card, I was testing the TWRP nandroid backup which messed up both the SD cards. So blamed that TWRP.

My phone worked for 5 days, now from yesterday it doesn't recognize the SD (Sandisk 128Gb SDSQUNC-128G-GZFMA), the message ""SD card Error" appears and no one the oher SD I tried works (Sandisk 8Gb, Toshiba 16GB, Sandisk 4Gb & Samsung 2Gb). All this SD have been tried & worked on a Samsung S2.
Don't know what other to try.
On Monday I'll try to give it back to commercial.
Bah !
This most likely won't help or isn't the problem... But the SD will not mount to PC if you don't unlock your phone first.
Meaning, if you ain't looking at your home screen, the PC will not mount the SD card.
Just throwing this out there, as I've panicked over my SD card because of this.
