[Q] Oldest version supported for Spotify? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The play store is saying Spotify isnt supported on my Fascinate. Anyone happen to know the oldest Android version required? Can't find any mention on the Play store or Spotify's website.
Thanks!

What rom are you running?
It could be a DPI issue.
Her is the tbo blacked version

2.3.5 is right. and Spotify is compatible with my phone. i'm running stock EH03 (2.3.5, verizon goodness). are you rooted? if so, have you modified things (like build.prop)?

I am rooted, but no customization at all. Only thing to note is this phone is no longer activated on VZW. I basically just want to use it as a glorified MP3 (spotify) player) when I go for runs.

How do make the android market detect my ROM

Hello,
I have flashed my vibrant with from JI6 (t-mo) to (bionix V 1.2.1) froyo but the android market still shows that my phone is running JI6.
Is there a setting in the android market that I need to change to make the market see that I am running froyo.
thanks
How do you know what the market sees your phone as?
Does Adobe Flash show up when you search "adobe" ?

Because when I go to the android market website (market.android.com) and then I sign in using my google account.
I clicked on an app, let say car home (google inc, tools). Then Ichoice to device to install too, my vibrant is grey out with a
question mark. I click on the question mark - it will display not compatible to my device.
I tried installing it thru appbrain , it displays that my device is running android 2.1. The car home came with TW nero5 before. BionixV 1.2.1 does not come with it. This is the reason why I want to install it.
Best thing to do would be to ODIN back to stock, then upgrade to froyo (2.2) with Kies Mini, THEN flash a custom ROM. Preferably Bionix-V 1.3.1, works great, and has the awesome of 1.2.1 + 1.3.1 features.
The reason it says that is because the rom probably still has the same modem installed.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
never used mini kies.
mmm.... since I did flash bionixV 1.2.1, does it still use the same modem as J16?
Can someone be kind enough to give me the car home apk made by google?
try using Market Enabler if you want to see more froyo apps.
OK I'll try it

TBH i've never used it because i've never had problems with Market, but i just downloaded it to see what it looks like, and i think you go to the SETTINGS LIST and then select
[us] TMOBILE (TMOBILE)
which means that you live in the USA and are on TMOBILE network.
choose which-ever network your on.
Then try it

[Q] First row sports

when I had my OG Droid Inc (CM7 rom) rooted i was able to go on firstrowsports(.)com with now problems (other than slow as hell 3G). now that im on a stock GS3 (verizon) the most i can get is the sound. is there something wrong with the GS3 flash, or does it need to be rooted to help out my situation
I'm guessing you don't have a good connection. I use to have that problem once in a while with my S2, haven't tried it with the S3 yet.
Powered by the SGSIII
I just tried it and it works for me...make sure the browser you are using is able to play flash and make sure flash is up to date.

Not sure exactly what you mean but I use ics browser+ and didn't change any settings.

sometimes i get a "looking for plug-in" message on websites that i should definatly get a video
im on verizon btw (so no root .. yet).
i think the main problem is the flash, noticed alot of websites are running funny
Make sure you have the latest Flash Player installed. Another good alternative, is Skyfire Web Browser. Although it requires a license purchase ($1.99) to be able to watch video/movies using the browser. It does give you 3 days trial.

tried that before i even made this tread. hopfully its just a " need to be rooted " problem, else this great phone has one BIG flaw. i mean i couldnt even watch a youtube video without the dedicated youtube app. smh
so i discovered it was because i needed the latest flash player, and that chrome wasnt flash ready. smh . thre first row plays smothly now, when it wants to.

Mine's working. Version 4.3.5.4-171610. Have you tried anything like clearing the data from the apps settings?
I had this version saved in Titanium from 2.3. Loaded right up and works like a charm.

Google Play download of sprint tv asks for update after being installed and then force crashes.
Where can I get a working version apk?
Does the new stock ICS come with it? If so, try to pull one from there. I remember when I first went to the VM leak ics roms, none of the apk's I found would work, and the one the market gave me didn't work either. I had to find a REALLY old one to get it to work.

[Q] Internet browser not prompting for video player - Kitkat 4.4.2

Hello everyone,
I'm coming from a Galaxy S2 running ICS. When I would click to play a video from the default internet browser, I would get prompted for the video player. I'm assuming that it has something to do with flash compatibility? In any case, I really liked this behavior since I could choose MX player (stream) or Internet (download). This was very handy and I would love to be able to have that functionality on my new device.
I'm now using a Galaxy S4 running KitKat 4.4.2 and it seems that all videos play inline and I can't choose any other apps. Is there a way to get that functionality back?
Thanks for any insight you may have!
Nope. Android killed all flash plug-ins and apps are now made to play videos inline. Not to mention the option to download was breaking alot of rules.

Say it aint so!! Should this have been working in ICS? I'm wondering because if it's been disabled since before ICS, maybe I can still find a way around this...?

You might be able to get around this by using outdated apks from before they started using the inbuilt browsers but be warned that if you download the videos google has the right to term you account. Other then that there is nothing you can do. Flash has been dead for a long time now.

[Q] "This device is not compatible..." after updating to 4.0.3.605.2 710RD

I have searched and tried several things but I can not seem to fix a Google play issue I am having. After I updated to the Global Update 4.03.605.2 710RD, I have not been able to download certain apps from the Play Store. I get a message saying "This device is not compatible with this version". And these are simple apps like Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks (I like coffee... a lot). Here is what I have tried so far but to no avail:
1) Using Root Explorer, I edited the Build.prop file to change the resolution from 320 (which is a normal resolution but I gave it a shot anyway) to 240. Cleared out the PLay Store cache and restarted the phone. No luck.
2) Edited the build.prop file again to change the phone to a Nexus S and the manufacturer to Samsung. Cleared cache and rebooted. No luck.
3) Used Market Helper and tried several different options. No luck.
4) Used RootCloak. No luck.
Attached are screenshots of the specs for my phone, including the build.prop. Any suggestions?
Are you using a stock ROM with only root added? The official Global update is 4.05 (it's an OTA patch, not a full system update), maybe try to apply it and then try to check the Play Store again?
Try changing the dpi back to 320. Changing the dpi often "breaks" compatibility.
Are you S-OFF? I would follow the full downgrade/upgrade guide in this section and get it to an official version (4.5.605.14) or at least reflash the full RUU of the version you have... Once you get it up and running and signed into Google Play, give it some time for all the services to update (Play Store updates automatically after first opening/closing) and load something that forces Play Services to update like Hangouts. Then do a full update of all embedded apps and give it 10-15 minutes after that for all the Google services to update, restart and try download the Starbucks app (ONLY, no other apps).

I have tried to fully downgrade and return to the fully updated stock. I am currently unlock with s-off. I still cannot download certain apps I had before, i.e Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Google Search. These apps are all compatible with my HTC Incredible. I can't figure out why my phone is all of a sudden not compatible. Does it matter that I'm unlocked?

No, it does not. Neither Google Play or the app knows your unlocked or S-Off.
So you are saying that completely stock, no custom ROM, changes to build.prop, or root, and these apps are still listed as incompatible?

Everything is stock except for the recovery. I am rooted. I followed the Downgrade and fully updated stock thread and used RUUs. I have been able to sideload the Dunkin Donuts app by downloading it from APK Downloader and it runs fine. For some reason I can't get the Starbucks app that way.

Really not sure what to say, recovery would not be relevant (although on a different note, TWRP is recommended over CWM)... Compatibility typically looks at setting from build.prop to verify model and relevant data like PPI and size of screen, and Play knows your OS version already.
Unfortunately I no longer own a Rezound so I can't confirm any of these issues.

Starbucks, at least, requires 4.1 or higher. That is stated in the description. This may be the limitation on the other app as well. Be sure to check that next time both were updated recently and probably had a feature added not compatible with 4.0 and lower.

This makes sense, check the basics first... But how did they work on an HTC Incredible? But which Incredible, the original, 2, or 4G? And stock or no?

Maybe an older version worked? Since M is around the corner, maybe ICS is just starting to get phased out on recently updated apps like GB was when LP launched.

Thanks for figuring this out. Is there a way to trick it to think I have 4.1? Maybe change a line or two in the build.prop then change it back after downloading?

I had an older version of the app on my phone before I started to update. I should have backed up the APK before I wiped the phone.

I think your missing the point... If it requires Android 4.1 or higher, they are using certain APIs or something else in the OS that didn't exist in previous versions, there is a reason its marked as incompatible. You are better off to look at one of the APK repository sites and grab an old version of the app.
Don't mess in build.prop unless you really know what you are doing.

Your best bet would be to flash a JB rom. Most of the 4.1 and 4.2 ones work fine with no issues on this phone.
