Love the detail on the wooden baskets on the 2nd image. Really nice clarity
Very impressive shots coming from a 8MP camera, I guess the camera sensor quality makes up for the low pixel count. Night shots seem to be terrible though, very high amounts of noisy and pixelation. I don't think flash will have any effect on those night shots either, unless the target objects are within 5 meters of the phone.

the Z Ultra camera is too horrible to even give me the slightest inkling of desire to take a single picture with it, let alone post or show off any that actually do get taken with it.

you are absolutely right mate my previous phone was sg s4 . the 8 mp camera on ultra is lyk 3 mp on any smart phone even in the daylight photos are pix-elated. even my samsung galaxy note with 8 mp did a much better job than ultra :crying:

Yep. my almost 2 year old note 1 takes better pictures. well, at least I have my x100s around my neck and a wifi sdcard for when I do want pictures. :silly:
...not that it excuses Sony from ZU camera for being such a POS of course.

Just got myself one! Will be here monday, Just wondering how the quality is of the front facing camera! Are you happy with it? I recently did have a Nexus S 4G! Will it be way better or?
It's a 2mp. It's a lot better than the nexus s which was like a .3mp if I remember correctly. I'm very happy with the quality

Check the thread about xda users and their cameras.. or something of that sort. It started out as shots with the ffc ..sorta but there's a few shots to see.
I think for a 2MP camera... that tiny ... on the front of a phone... ... it takes great pictures!

I have no complaints about it honestly. it is about all you could expect from a camera with such a limited lens space! as far as your other phone, I have no idea, sorry bro
Pretty sure 2mp is still the best front facing camera you buy today quality is great in the right lighting

if you are asking due to face unlock then don't worry about it, it does the job needed! I cannot say the same however for the software behind face unlock itself...

Guys don't know if this is a stupid question but can't we get the 2mp front facing camera to record 720p? I'm asking because the Galaxy S3 has a 2mp front shooter and the nexus has 1.3mp and they both do 720p video capture.

Hey people first off all I would like to say that I recently bought myself a new shiny S3 and so far love it. The one thing however that disapoints me is the quality of camera. I had an iP4s before this phone and I must say that it took much much better quality pics than S3 especially in low light situations. The difference in quality cannot be unseen, the pics are supernoisy even without zooming. So I'm asking, is it possible that I maybe got a defective camera on my phone? This fact really annoys me because I tend to use camera on my phone quite often.
I took this the other day - would you sat it is poorer quality that what your iPhone shot?

theres been huge comparisons between the 2 cameras. Theres a thread on here that compares them in a bunch of different conditions and if i'm not mistaken the S3 edged out the 4s (sorry i dont have time to link it right now) .
GSMarena did a camera test S3 vs 4S vs OneX vs PureView and the results were (from best to worst) Pureview, S3, 4S, OneX
I guess it just depends on the way you take the pics but i have heard of some models shipping with bad camera modules... Could u post some pics maybe so that we have a comparison
Check the "pictures taken with your S3" thread.. if yours isn't taking pictures as well as the pics in that thread you may have a faulty camera. I've been nothing but impressed with the camera!

I checked that thread and it really looks like my camera is worse. I'm uploading a picture I took this morning and it really looks mediocre at least. The road is super noisy and the sky looks lie it's finger painted. Plus the overal detail of the buildings and cars is below average from what I seen in current smartphones.

can we have more info on your picture? like iso, etc. i had similiar problems too, but found that with just the right adjustments its still a workable camera

basically i just turned anti shake and auto contrast off. that limits the max iso to 800. then you gotta play around with the scene settings~
Hello. I haven't used the camera much yet but i would have the iso off auto and set as low as possible. Image size at 8mp and quality set to superfine. That would be my starting point. The few photos i've taken so far didn't look rough like the one shown by op. Play with the settings and see if there's an improvement.
Some phones have Sony camera (Perfect, better that iPhone's one), but most phones have Samsung camera (Korean ****)
I was pleasantly surprised about the picture quality my SGS3 produces.
Then again I don't expect too much...

my camera is fantastic. granted it wont take the place of a standalone. even videos in the house. people are like dude. its so clear. i think they did a great job :good:
the s3 camera is ok. i still think my htc sensation took better quality pictures. the htc sensation camera has more setting options than the s3. i do a lot of photo touching in post for print ads, with photos, using a professional camera but touching up photos from the s3 vs. my old htc sensation, i would have to say that photos taken with the sensation was much better to work with. the s3 is better with video recording. i do plan to shoot a 5min short film with this phone...just cause.

This forum got some good info on the s3 camera firmware, when I got my s3 and took some photos I thought the s3 camera was crap, then when I started reading some of the review and looking at the pictures I thought something must be wrong, I flashed a custom ROM(fox hound 1.4.4 with Franco kernel) its Seemed to have fixed the the problem...

the camera quality on the s3 is awesome
BUT the 4s'S one is better
thats why you are saying its bad
because you are used to soemthing better
I love the screen on this bad boy! The biggest concern I had was the battery and after testing it is better than I could get with any previous phone. About the same as the Note 2.
If you are on the fence, jump off and go get one!
Now I have to sell my Xperia Z and my S4 Active lol.
What can you tell us about the screen?i am quite curious about it.

The screen is absolutely beautiful. It is not as bright as the S4 Active or the Z but I am sure they did this to keep the battery life better.
I will upload some pics next to the other phones.

So with same brightness and same wifi/etc on, it's same battery life as Note 2? That's pretty good. I was afraid it'd be 2/3 or half of the note 2 battery life.

I am currently on Xperia ZL about past 11 months now, the phone pretty much rocked everything , but recently while trying to clean my phone's mic hole I scratched a bit and later on after a weak or so, the screen started to crack..its nothing serious till now as its sticking fine , but If i want to buy a new display it is about a 100 usd here in Bangladesh.
So I was taking a look to the larger phones, Something from the phablets like the Z Ultra, The phone looked quit nice at the store, affordable for me, . I am a musician by pro, least the headphones should work as good as the z or zl..and I am bit confused about the camera issues cause I use it quit much.
What do you say guys should I go for it? or you have some more suggestions?

From Dhanmondi here Z Ultra is a great device bro! It seems big at times but then again i got it FOR the size so it doesn't bother me. Get yourself a book cover for better protection. It will rock every app trust me and audio quality is great.

Hello everybody..i have sony z2 and lg g3 and you know z2 camera is 20mpx and g3 13mpx but i feel that lg g3 camera is better than z2 does anyone noticed that?
Nope, I had to use a G3 for a few days while I waited for a replacement Z2 from my insurance and thought the camera was awful. Nice phone though, has a couple of nifty software options the Z2 is missing but overall the Z2 is by far the better handset.
Maybe i didnt know how to take pictures with z2 .. I think z2 and g3 the best phones

The software on the z2 isn't the most intelligent. Best to use it in manual mode adjusting white balance and exposure accordingly as you go along. The g3's camera isn't better, by no means, it just does better in auto.

I feel like camera on my old Galaxy S III was better.
If your bootloader is unlocked, then your camera pics aren't gonna be as good as a z2 with a locked bootloader.

I have had both devices in my experience Z2 has better Camera but I am not saying that G3 camera is bad ,G3 is ahead having OIS and Dual Tone Flash and its not just on paper in real experience G3 takes better photos with flash and laser focus works with charm as I love talking macro shots g3 helps a lot,but then it comes to other stuff like z2 camera is not just for people who like to tap and snap it has ton of options both in app & downloadable ,and in manual mode z2 camera is very flexible

No No No... G3 camera can't be compared with Z2.
Pictures on G3 are overexposed and video stabilisation is ha ha ha

Here is a test to prove Z2 has no loss in camera quality
I must say that I believe the z2 takes very good pictures. I made the switch from the z2 to the LG g3 and I'm very happy. Both devices take very good pictures. I vehicle the g3 might take better low light pictures in the sense that there is far less noise. But the z2 takes very very good pictures in general. I don't think anyone can go wrong with either device. I think both bring positive and negative things to the table. Just my. 02 cents.

Not true, no discernable difference on Z2, whether bootloader unlocked or not.
