[Q] How build the custom kernel in CyanogenMod

HI all,
I'm building a custom kernel that enable V4L2 (usb camera) in Galaxy S2, based on CM ROM follow this oldwiki. cyanogenmod. org/wiki/Building_Kernel_from_source
But I always get error when compile kernel (syntax + missing library...)
Are there anyone has experiment in building custom kernel from CM? or anything ROM that be able to support V4L2?

Click to collapse
It is not necessary to have the same android source as your device's android version to make cwm. CWM is part of the kernel and not the android system. Your device's kernel will be extracted and the ramdisk will be replaced with cwm ramdisk and after that the kernel will be built with cwm ramdisk then you can use it as recovery.
If you want I can help you out with twrp recovery. I have done it for LG L65 and L70. If you want my help with twrp then please download omni rom sources (manifest: https://github.com/omnirom/android ) or just replace bootable/recovery folder with the omni's one in your cm source tree, get kernel source code for your device or have a boot.img, make sure your device has a recovery partition so recovery is not part of the kernel image as a secondary ramdisk like on samsung devices otherwise I could not help.

[Q] Build Cyanogenmod12 for unofficial devices like i9082

I am trying to build cm12 from rom source. I have succesfully built the rom for hammerhead, following the instructions in their wiki.
But when I am trying to build cm12 for devices like i9082, I am unable to proceed, as I can't find the device name in the lunch menu.
How do I build the rom for such unofficial devices?

Building a Nougat AOSP ROM or CyanogenMod 14.1 ROM for an unsupported phone

Recently I've been interested in creating a stock Nougat ROM or CyanogenMod 14.1 ROM for my Samsung Galaxy Alpha (SM-G850F). I've been reading and watching a lot of tutorials on how to go on about doing this but the example phones which they use have supported official CM builds unlike my SM-G850F. I was going to follow this tutorial but stopped at getting the proprietary blobs when mentioned that his phone is supported in the official CM directories. I then went surfing the net to see if I could extract the proprietary blobs from a ZIP which ended me up at this website which says yes, I can. However, my question is if I can use an unofficial build such as [5.1.x][SM-G850F] CyanogenMod 12.1 UNOFFICIAL for the Galaxy Alpha (slte) (final) to get the proprietary blobs for CM14.1? Despite that ROM being built for CM12.1. Another question is if building a stock AOSP ROM is easier than building a CM ROM and where to go to get the proprietary files for AOSP rom building. Thanks guys!

Kernel source modification for different android versions

I have the kernel source for JellyBean 4.2.2 that boots cyanogenmod 10 and other jellybean ROMS. But when I use that kernel for Kitkat like Cyanogenmod 11 that doesn't work.
To make sure the problem is in the kernel I packed the cm11 boot.img with the jellybean kernel and it didn't boot.
So my question is what modifications does the source need for a newer android version ?
I posted it many times found no answer .
