Is it just me, or the scrolling of the homescreen is not that smooth? And not just z ultra but when i had note 2 the xperia launcher scrollong was not as smooth as touchwiz as well. Everything is so fast and i was thinking maybe its the laumcher

My guess is that it's definitely the launcher and not the hardware. Install Apex or Nova from the Play Store and see if those are smoother.
Wait for the newer UI home launcher (which show at press), that one is smooth as I install before the leak version in my previous Xperia Z phone.

I thought the stock laumcher for ics was smooth but jesus.... What was done to trebuchet to make it so smoother.

Excuse me, can you make your sign bigger please? I have 3 monitor on my pc and i cannot read it, it's too small.
Thanks
Btw i still use the stock launcher. I really like the sony widgets. Sometimes i try a different launcher but after some minutes i switch back to the default one.

Yeah, 2 years ago, when I was using it, Launcher Pro was one of the best launchers. But now, it is still the same because it has not been updated for 1 year.
Still with stock launcher after 3 years and 3 Xperias

Still like Xperia Home.. Simple but Beautiful launcher with sony widgets..
Yep sticking with the xperia stock launcher. It really is a nice looking one and I've tried others but always gone back to it.
Stock for sure! Love the theme, the distiction!

Stock Xperia!!:highfive:
Yeah, I love Xperia Home, too. It is probably the nicest launcher out there and it is also pretty fast with no lags.
In my view, Sony makes the most beautiful interface among all Android manufactures, while they keep the feel of the vanilla Android. Maybe their updates take a little bit longer but they are very well optimized and bring some additional features unlike Samsung, who keep the interface same and just update it to the newer version.
Xperia home. I think timescape ui wins

Sony is very original (design, ui, apps, Cosmic Flow, Floating Touch, White Magic etc.) and yet everything is absolutelly beautiful unlike Samsung, who copies almost everything from Apple (design, ui-touchwiz, s voice.....) and guess what....everything is ugly and worse. Sony also updated all of its 2011 phones, when tried to offer all of their features. Samsung offers new features only to their new Galaxy S series, when you have lower end phone and get update for GB to ICS it still looks the same. It is sad that they still hold most of the market, I wish Sony had more market share than Samsung because they try hard and they really deserve it.
Also what no one seems to notice but sony was the first to use the look of the notification draw icon in the middle with two apps either side of it. This interface was then adopted my google in the stock version of ICS and now other manufacturers have skinned their ICS skin to this look as well (HTC one series for example)
Is it just me or anyone else? I experience terrible lags in app drawer scrolling in all Apex/Nova/Go launchers. Trebuchet launcher is flawless without any lag. I dont know what could be the reason behind this despite the awesome hardware our phone has.
It happens for me in CM9 official and Stock ROM too.
Can anybody please give some input on this? Is there a solution at all?
I use Apex Launcher on mine and it's fine for speed. Tried a reinstall?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Yes they are laggy as hell. GO Launcher was really fast but after last few updates app drawer is choppy.
But, there is a solution, find Cyanogen launcher, Trebuchet. I've used it on Cyanogenmod but now I'm using it on stock rom and it works flawless.
Typing from my phone so I'll provide links a bit later.
Cheers

Either people cannot recognize choppy graphics or Sony made different versions of Xperia S for different markets.
It is choppy, even with a stock launcher (not always but it does happen) l.
The term "butter smooth" should be used by ones who actually have oportunity to compare it either to iOS or Nexus

Compared with a Galaxy Nexus (Had one).
I must say that running the .45 firmware and the beta version of apex launcher which is you can get from their site or download in the advanced menu of the app. The phone is running amazingly smooth. I think it's a combination of both but especially after the latest firmware that the phone is flying.

Novo and apex is smooth. Go launcher lags for a split second when opening app drawer

So is it just your app drawer scrolling? How is your home screen scrolling? How many pages of apps do you have?
It seems strange if you lag is just restricted to the app drawer

That actually leads me to believe that vendors like Sony have different versions of Xperia S for different markets. Which sucks.
Hi! I have a question What is best launcher for mini pro? Stable, nice and fast? For me it's "Go Launcher EX".
Very customizable, a lot of themes and fast
Sorry for my bad English

Give a try for Next launcher.
I used to use Go Launcher EX before. But after some times, I rather use the launcher comes with custom roms. Just simpler and neater.

What you guys are saying is true onl for some launchers, and the one mentioned in this post certinly isn't famous for being light and fast and is probably one of he heaviest around. I made comparisons on actual data, with nova or apex installed as system apps i alwas get around 18-20mb of ram. xperia gx home i tried recently was shooting at around 25-28 which is about the same i got with go...Imo nova has best speed to options ratio available atm

I really appreciate the simplicity of Sony's launcher but what would you guys say is the best launcher for the xperia z Ultra?
I've tried a few like nova, adw and 3d shell but nothing comes close to Buzz Launcher for me...
Has some amazing themes and is all free! Give it a try as I know u will love it.

I still use the stock launcher, but Nova is still my favorite. It's light, fast and you can change individual icons and apply themes (Nova Prime), so Nova covers everything i want. The updated Kit Kat Nova launcher is also under development, so that'll be cool.
Ok cool ill give them a try, I had a go at installing the android 4.4 kitkat launcher which looked good but it not built for a phone with this size screen so everything looked to big.
How intensive are 3rd party launchers on phones as im guessing the stock launcher will still be running in the background?
Nova and Apex are one of the lightest out there. The ones with fancy 3D effects and unnecessary bloat are naturally using more resources. I don't know what type of user you are, if you like to spend hours theming or you just like to have a stock looking environment, but my favorite is Nova (Prime)
Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk
I used to be a real fan of touchwiz but im noticing now all the little stutters and lags which is so annoying to me, thats why I like the sony ui just because its smooth and lag free. but ever since having a galaxy nexus ive been a fan of stock android

Stock launcher is still the best imho nothing beats Sony's UI i say.. But if I'm on other device, id choose nova. It's stable and fast and able to customize the icon theme too.
