This is all done in ROM Manager: clear your download cache, check erase recovery before flashing in the settings, re-flash latest CWM, be happy
Hit menu and you will see the button to clear the download cache, hit menu and then settings and you will see the check box to erase recovery.
Thank Slayher guys, not me, he's the one who fixed it
You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. This worked perfectly!
It worked pretty good, thanks a lot.

CW?
Is this for CW 3.0.2.4? And where is the download cache? Sorry for stupid question, I haven't upgraded to latest recovery because of said problems.
I just installed V3.0.2.4. Would that be the right version?
confirmed working mostly, havent tested on a restore yet, made a backup and installed a zip fine. no format in this zip though. in RM press menu and you you will see clear cache. and yes this is for 3.0.2.4
make sure under menu you also click erase recovery. this will erase recovery partition before flashing new recovery.
Nice find!
Just for reference sake....why do we want to erase a recovery partition prior to installing a new recovery

Just to make sure that it's wiped clean before a new flash, the same reason you should do a complete wipe before bouncing to a different ROM.

Do you have to keep erase recovery checked once you reflash the recovery? Or is this a one time deal then revert back to unchecked in settings?

I dont see how it would hurt to leave it checked... deleting every time until we establish a stable recovery is probably your best bet for now...
thanks for this tip
Nice post, worked like a charm.
Does this new version handle kernel flashing now?

This was not the case for me. I did a restore using 3.0.2.2 and everything works great except for the market. I get a fc after downloading an app, right as it's trying to install. Does any have any suggestions?

Hopefully I can get some help from you guys I'm currently on hboot 1.12 HTC devunlock and I'm running TWRP 2.2.1. I tried flashing CMX but I get "unfortunately phone isn't responding" right after that it says the UI isn't responding and the dialog boxes keep appearing. So I can't get past the lock screen. I've already tried wiping and reflashing and it didn't help. Any help would be appreciated.

IF S-ON = True:
Then you have to flash the boot.img kernel file via fastboot. I would also try downloading the ROM file again and double checking MD5 just in case.
IF S-OFF = True:
Download the ROM again and check the MD5, make sure you wipe the hell out of your phone, and if your coming from another ROM or Stock, don't recovery any Nandroid info, you should have to reinstall your apps or recover via MyBackup or Titanium Backup (app + data, no system apps).

I thought it was only if you had updated to 1.15 for the hboot that you have to flash the bootimg..... nvm ill try it once i get home
Definitely sounds like you might have a bad download. Also download the superwipe zip and use that too. With hboot 1.12 you should be fine to flash without any special procedures.

A known issue in CMX is that phone process will crash, it does this while the phone searches for a signal, once a signal is found it should stop. Just try waiting it out, it doesn't really affect anything, once the message is gone you will be fine

That is only for HBOOT 1.15 and up. HBOOT 1.12 allows for flashing of kernel from recovery with S-ON.
When you say you tried "wiping and reflashing", what exactly did you wipe? You should do a factory reset, then wipe data, system, cache, and dalvik. Then flash the ROM.

Don't forget data too
One user kept corrupting his phone with a backup of user data, I don't know how or where he got the relevant knowledge to obtain just an image apps and user data but it was corrupt and he stuck himself in an endless cycle of reformat and reflash apps and data. A human boot loop lol I was thinking about adding it to the troubleshooting guide but what are the odds that someone who doesn't know what they are doing will create a zip install of backed up data (or fail really since it is corrupt) and flash it *looks around in baited breath* well OK then
Well i think the factory reset worked now i get a not so frequent dialog saying process.phone.android has stopped. Should i reflash or just wait it out? lol
I would wait it out
I had this exact same problem. My issue was I had flashed a modified mail app that got rid of the Exchange Security Lock. Once I factory reset I was fine. When I tried flashing that Mail app again, I got the same Phone has quit error over and over.

Google market back up has been a long time feature. Its just that OEMS won't include it or for some reason disable it. Every HTC Android phone I have own has asked permission for Google market back up but upon factory reset or flash, sense will disable it the automatic restore

Hey guys, last week I installed MROM (http://www.montuori.net/android-mrom/atrix-mrom/) and had been using it without having any problem, I loved it. Yesterday, I heard a kernel that can be good for battery life so I wanted to install it. (http://www.montuori.net/android-mrom/atrix-kernels/ sv build) I installed it and first boot took about 10+ mins. but after first reboot it was normal. And I started having problems like it freezes and the phone shut down itself. sometimes restarts itself. and when using an application (like facebook, dolphin browser, games etc.), it suddenly closes the application.
I also tried to install other kernels but it gives me an error when I try to install it (installation aborted error) . how can I go back to my first MROM times? but I don't want to lose any data in my phone like my applications and settings. How can I do it? Can anybody give me some advice?
Also, what's that MROM update.zip? Is there anybody who knows it? If I install it, does it solve the problem that I'm having?
If I install MROM again, does it delete the apps in my phone? Its an emergency guys, I can't use my phone normally. Thanks in advance.
Happy new year!!
Wipe cache & dalvik cache, then reinstall mrom. Your apps, etc should be unaffected.

I still can't install even MROM. gives an error, exactly like;
--Installing: /sdcard/atrix-MROM-20121111.zip
Finding update package...
Openin update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/atrix-MROM-20121111.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.--
I'm about to lose my mind. :/
you could try to re-install MROM and see where this gets you - do not wipe any data/system when installing and you should have everything still on your phone.
IF that fails to solve problem you could try and use Titanium back up to save YOUR apps (not system apps) and then do a full wipe of your phone and re-install MROM
I'm around for a bit so will check on how you're doing
good luck
when i try to reinstall, it gives me the same error. now im going to back up my all apps and after that factory reset and finally will try to reinstall mrom. I'll write when I do this. thanks
I did everything right, wiped all data cache and tried to reinstall mrom but it gives me the same error :/

what happens when you turn on phone?
are you able to install another rom?
It might be an idea to download a fresh copy of MROM and see if that helps?
also, after putting the new rom on the phone but before installing go to 'mounts and storage' (in the CWM menu list) and format the following 'pre-install, system, osh, data and cache'
I hope that helps.

I tried to install other ROM (CM7.2) after formatting the parts that you said, and it was succesfull. after that i tried to install google apps but it's giving me the same error. anyway, I tried to install MROM again but still the same, same error, unfortunately. I thought, If I try all these steps from the begining, maybe it'd be successful (from stock rom!!) so that I installed back my stock rom with RSD Lite. and rooted, unlocked, installed CWM Recovery. and I have just tried to install MROM but it's still giving me the same error. I really can't understand why... It was like my first day of my phone, I did every single step from the begining, but still the same error. omg

I tried CM a while back (WAY back, actually - pre-ICS) for the i717. It wasn't bad but after a while I went back to stock because for me it just 'felt' better. Hard to explain it other than that. In any case, I've been on full stock ever since and was happy with it.
Then Official JB comes out from the carrier and my phone is laggy as all hell and it's gotten to the point of royally pissing me off to the point that I'm considering my options.
My question is this: Do we know the cause of the lag? If so, is it fixable via custom kernel or something similar, or do I need to go to a whole separate ROM to get away from the problem (and are there any in particular that are recommended if that is the case)?

I don't recall, but if I had to venture a guess I'd say probably not. I followed the above thread to the 'slow 4.1.2' and disabled everything I could on that list and did a restart, not sure which one did the trick but now it's nice and speedy.Hoping it stays this quick and isn't just a factor of not a lot built up in memory yet. I'll try a factory reset if it bogs down again.
there could also be some existing apps that continue to run in the background.
you might either go into app manager and force close them and clear their cache individually
OR
maybe reboot phone every day or two. clearing any cache build up. kind of a preventative maintinence thing.
if you ventured new ROM, may I suggest Padawawn.
every phone is a bit different, but I have had the best results ever
4.2.2 ROMs perform better IMO. Good luck
™
i prefer stock as well and was also experiencing lag until i found the right setup for myphone. started out by debloating. then flashed phasekernel_jb.3 and use setcpu or whatever tuner app you prefer and set governor = fantasy/scheduler = sio/min = 384/max = 1728. all phones are different so you may need to try different settings to find what works for yours. i have not had any lag since.
Here is what worked for me. I had the same issue as you and posted it a while back. This also greatly increased my battery life. I suggest that if you are rooted go ahead and wipe the device - in fact do it twice! You will have to reinstall of you your apps but it got rid of all the lag and almost doubled my battery life.

If yes, can I just install the SuperSU zip from TWRP? No need to re-root?

It can be done by pressing at the same time Volume up and Power buttons until the display lights up, which is when you have to release Power button, while at the same time you should keep pressing the Volume Up button.

First try going to System>Apps>Contacts Storage and clear the data and cache, see if that helps.
