Rom Toolbox Pro issues - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Somewhat savvy somewhat still a noob to root stuff.
I rooted my S4 (from ME7) recently and have been enjoying some root apps. I bought the pro version of ROM Toolbox. I love the app but for some reason I can't get custom fonts to work as well as custom boot animations. I tried installing a few different fonts and then rebooting and no luck. They don't show up in the font list either under Display>Fonts in android settings. Then with the custom boot animations I installed the Alex Grey animation, reboot, no luck. Then i tried "Disable the boot animation>Remove all boot animations" and then rebooted and still no luck.
I'm kinda confused, am I doing something wrong?

If you're running me7 then you won't be able to touch the custom boot screen. A rooted phone is different from an unlocked bootloader. There are a lot of things that can't be changed with your S4 until an unlock is found since Verizon locked it down so nicely (Note the intense sarcasm). As far as the fonts go, I was able to change the font to Zekton for all Internet browsers, but further changes caused me to send my phone into a bootloop (soft-brick). Basically, don't try to customize or flash anything on your phone until an unlock is found. I would suggest using the root permissions to utilize Titanium Backup and back up everything.
Sent from the future...

Samsung uses flipfonts. ROM toolbox's are not flipfonts.
Samsung uses a .qmg as their bootanimation instead of bootanimation.zip
Basically they aren't compatible at all

Help with a few things..

Ok guys (and gals)..
I personally have a rooted & rom'd Epic 4G. A coworker recently upgraded to their first smartphone, a Samsung Fascinate on Verizon.
Since they know nothing, they asked me to do a few things to the phone for them.
Here's what I've done so far..
Rooted (fully & confirmed) via One-Click Root. Originally tried rooting via steps found here and over on Android Central but it didn't seem to fully root. Some things would run that required root, but others wouldn't (Titanium Backup being one). Bottom line, phone is fully rooted now. Running the stock ED04 rom with no intent to change. This guy isn't a power user, just wants a few things beyond fully stock.
Issue 1 -
Next thing I wanted to do was get Clockwork Mod installed so they could do fully system backups. Tried installing the red Clockwork Mod via Odin found here which somewhat works, but the Backup/Restore functions aren't really operational. If you run a backup, it goes through like it worked, but then when you go to do a restore the first thing I noticed was all the dates on any backups made are set to January of 2000 for some reason. When selecting any of the backups present, it won't restore them. Thoughts? Link to a fully working CWM for ED04?
Issue 2 -
Wanted to flash a good kernel for him so I chose OTB Reloaded v1.6. Flashed via CWM, installed Voltage Control, and all that is working good. The only issue was that after flashing the kernel it screwed up the boot animation. Layered over top of the stock Galaxy S animation and then the Verizon one was the generic "ANDROID" animation. No huge deal, but it irritated me so I tried to fix it by flashing a "stock" Galaxy S boot animation found HERE. The issue now is there is no boot animation at all. After powering the phone on and getting the plain white text "Samsung" the screen goes completely black for a few seconds as the phone boots until you find yourself at the main screen. Any suggestions?
I've searched and looked around a bit but having trouble finding any clear info on either issue. Perhaps it's just me, but it seems like the Fascinate info and sections are very scattered and outdated?
Thanks in advance for any insight, help, tips, info, and/or fixes!!
I think by using this recovery, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942021, it should fix your problems.
Cool...thanks for the link. I'll give that one a shot and report back.

New SGS2 owner with questions

Hello,
I just got my SGS2 today. So far, I have rooted it and installed Clockworkmod.
1. When I installed Clockwork, the yellow triangle appeared again at boot and if I tried flashing the secure kernel again I'd lose the custom recovery. What can I do to fix this?
2. Coming from a Nexus S, I really miss the stock Gingerbread look. Is there any way I could have stock Gingerbread on my SGS2? Or at least get rid of all the junk in the app drawer?
3. My phone is on T-Mobile and I get the annoying T-Mobile on and off boot animations. How can I get rid of them? I assume I could flash stock SGS2 animations; in which case, where can I get them?
Thank you so much
Okay, I've managed to push 2 files to /system/media via adb and I believe I have the stock boot animation now but when powering off, I still get the annoying T-Mobile animation
EDIT: It's not the original boot animation from the SGS2 I still need the original

1: Read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 or buy a USB jig off eBay to get rid of the yellow triangle.
2. You could just install Launcher2 or flash CM7 / AdamG's devnull AOSP android rom.
3. I'm pretty sure after flashing a custom rom your boot animation will also be wiped to something the custom rom has. Not sure about this one though since I've a unbranded SGS2.
Many thanks for your response.
I have tried flashing the secure kernel back but for some reason I lost Clockwork when I did that so had to flash Clockwork again and live with the triangle.
Will give Launcher2 a look.
And I have managed to get rid of T-Mobile everywhere

You need to read and follow the instructions as you should still have CWM if followed correctly .

but if you flash a secure stock kernel over the custom kernel with inbuilt clockwork mod it's pretty clear u loose CWM at all.

[Q] Help with Roms/Boot Animations?

I have the Motorola Atrix 4G on 2.3.4, rooted. It runs on the stock rom. I want some help on installing sounds for the boot animations. I have seen different ways to do it and tried all of them and have not been successful. I want to know a way that works. One more thing is how to install roms without failing. I have looked in the forums here and not been successful in finding a way to install sounds for the boot animations.
maybe the themes and apps section is what you want to look:

Emergency rom flash!! Please help!

I flashed Superuser onto my Epic 4G touch (SPH-D700) and rooted apps to personalize interface. I used Golauncher, ROM toolbox (or toolkit), and Pimp my Rom I believe it was. I wanted to customize the animation on boot, yet it just boots over and over. Tried factory reset in recovery mode, didnt help. Considered a brick now? If I can save it, Ill do it anyway, no matter how advanced.
What have u done for changing the boot animation. From where have u changed it?
Are you running a custom rom??

Im running on Superuser, I changed it through a rooted app. I was messing with the boot animations from two different apps, ROM toolkit and Pimp my Rom. They both claimed they could customize the boot animation, so I installed a couple animations from the app. They did not work, then it gave me a bunch of errors saying certain things stopped working and it just piled on from there, so I rebooted it and it caused the phone to continously reboot. I went into recovery mode and reset the phone, yet that only stopped the booting process. Im thinking it just needs a new ROM to flash since its at the first boot screen with the triangle

[Q] rooted samsung s3 stuck in boot animation through Rom Toolbox Pro

I rooted my samsung for the first time Friday (worked out great). I just installed Rom Toolbox Pro & was looking through the features (I should of backed up first thing!) & decided to install a custom boot animation (big mistake!). The boot animation worked fine but even though the phone boots up & actually works, the screen is stuck in the boot animation state & will not bring up the home screen.
I've tried everything (actually learned quite a bit) using CWM to install boot animation disable zips, clear all kinds of caches, & even clear data & factory reset (lost everything). Even used odin3 to install Jelly Bean (originally ice cream sandwich 4.0.4.) & still this f$%^ing boot animation will not clear off the screen.
The phone still works to where I can answer & if I flip it on the side I can use the voice app with the home key to see half the screen (scrolling is a pain) but if I click to the home screen the dam boot animation takes over the whole screen again.
The firmware updates & zip files don't work. Is there a full android system out there to restore it or some way easy to get my home screen back. I really don't want to turn it to a brick if possible.
Thanks for all your help

1. If you haven’t already, you should check whether or not your phone is able to play custom bootanimations.
2. Download this bootanimation.zip, I’ve made only for testing, and place it in /data/local or /system/media folder. Or flash this with CWM: CWM_CustomBootanimation_Test.zip
3. Reboot, and if it’s still Samsung original booting sequence, it’s not enabled.
4. If you have a Samsung (touchwiz) based rom (stock), you can easily enable it with my cwm flashable zip, attached to this post.
5. Download both CWM_CustomBootanimation_Enable.zip and CWM_CustomBootanimation_Disable.zip, and place them at your internal sdcard. The reason I say you should get both, is because when trying out different animations, it can easily mess up the boot. If that happens it’s quite simple to just reboot into cwm, flash the disable zip, reboot, replace the animation with a working one, and reboot into cwm again and flash the enable zip. Should be easy for beginners.
**The test animation works for both ICS and JB**
Minimum requirements:
- CF-root with CWM
- Busybox
This has been reported working on:
[ICS]4.0.4 --> [JB]4.2.1 --> [JB]4.2.2 --> [JB]4.3
i9300, i9305, Sprint, Verizon and i747m devices.
Galaxy Note II - N7100
Galaxy Grand - i9082
And should in theory work on all other samsung android devices.
UPDATE:
made two new flashable zip files, that should work for 4.2.1.. it uses the AOSP "bootanimation"-file, that already has the "bootanimation.zip"-method implemented..
EDIT: it has been confirmed that this works for the 4.2.2 as well..
UPDATE2:
if anyone is having issues having the Anbech-folder on internal sdcard, and cant remove it, then try flash the "CWM_RemoveAnbechFolder.zip"-file from the attachments..
UPDATE3:
made 2 new flashzips:
Code:
CWM_CustomBootanimation_43_Enable.zip
CWM_CustomBootanimation_43_Disable.zip
they should work for any 4.3 sammy rom. make sure to get both files, as the disable-flashzip is handy if anything gets messed up
UPDATE4:
2 new flashzips:
Code:
CWM_CustomBootanimation_44_Enable.zip
CWM_CustomBootanimation_44_Disable.zip
let me know how they work out, as i cant test them myself
if just half of those who uses my work, would hit the thanks-button, i would be very happy

Thanks! I've looked for my full stock firmware for my model which is GT-I9300 but I'm in Alaska. The provider used international models which I don't know which to use. Will the FCC ID or SSN help?

FULL GUIDE TO STOCK ROM (WARRANTY STATE)
Read very carefully as this process can kill your device
Happy flashing and let us know if you got rid of this boot animation
ok, if you still can access your phone thats good news because i can hep you get your phone back to normal mode without harming any of your files or anything... what you need is a rooted (preferable identical to yours) android device.
1) in the second working device, use the filemanager of your choice that has root access and copy the file in system/media/bootanimation.zip to an accessable location in an ext sd.
2) since you can use your phone, install the app bootanimation changer in both the phones, use the second phone for navigational purposes... it helps you to see where you are in your misbehaving phone.
3) insert the sd card with the copy of the boot animation to the malfunctioning phone and start the device
4) open bootanimation changer in both phones, and using the working phone change the animation of the malfunctioning phone and you good to go!!:good:
get back for anything you didnt understand... hopefully it helps.
