I'm on Slim/Liquid 4.2.2 and freakin loving this new camera.
They took ease of use up a few notches.
I have no idea about picture quality. But the camera is a tiny bit quicker to respond and definitely has an easier to use GUI.

I confirmed that it works for non-rooted devices also and yes it does replace your camera all you have to do is uninstall the camera apk and you get your old camera back.

I can't seem to change the photo or video resolution to be taken. Anyone have similar issues? I tried the left hand settings, but don't seem to be any for changing resolutions.

With CM10, gallery.apk includes camera and gallery. Gallery works fine and camera is buggy.
Then we have too in CM10 a LegacyCamera.apk that give us a full working camera.
If I install 4.2 Gallery, I have, same CM10, the new gallery that works fine :victory: but 4.2camera is buggy...:crying:

I agree... m using CM9.. when I installed this one, there were 2 diffrent camera icons... one of ICS n one of 4.2JB.. 4.2 cam and gallery both are buggy.. but I m ok with the cam.. so I just installed another gallery and make the old cam and new gallery hidden(I use apex launcher, it has hiding option)

Unzip and you have your missed app to test...
camera works fine but the photosphere takes a lot of time to move and also it just moves up and down for me....
cannot take more than 2 pics because after that the dot barely moves....

Found a post advertising the Android 4.2 camera and gallery ported to 4.1 Galaxy Nexus. Decided to give it a try on CM10 Disarmed Toaster for my Evo 3D and it works. I haven't put it to the test thoroughly yet, but basic functions seem to work. The sphere picture (I forgot what they're calling it) force closes though. I tried their work around, but it errors stating that my device isn't yet supported.

I don't think so. It produces and error mesage that says device is not supported and exits when that is acknowledged.
There's a mod in lens_flare's MIUI thread to change device type in buildprop but I haven't tried it.

Photosphere, camera, panorama, video all working. Much nicer UI than the original JB camera. Not even getting those pesky graphic glitches in cm10.

flash 4.2Camera_t04.zip
reboot
The new keyboard looks nice too(took the apk file not the flashable zip)

Didn't realize that the camera had been updated to t04 since the download isn't labeled that.
Sphere seems to activate properly with the updated version for me as well, but I haven't figured out how to use it yet.

If you download from the camera only link, the zip file will have a "t04" (test 4?) suffix on it. There is an additional .apk in that version (GmsCore.apk) which was probably patched to bypass the device check, so no buildprop change is required.

I just tried the t04 and it works a bit better. Gallery opens the spherical view for the photospher'ed pics and the pictures taken with photosphere in the camera app are a bit less like a collage and more like a stiched sphere. I noticed that the more pics you take the more likely it will screw up the whole thing. I took a whole full sphere and it turned out real messy. The best thing to do is take a quarter to half sphere with no more than one level up and down beyond the horizontal plane.
I cant wait for the official Agrabren'ed version integrated into CM10.1
Now if Aggy can make this whole thing work in 3D, that would make me want to hold on to this phone until the protons breakdown...just kidding, protons last a very long time...
Downloaded the 4.2 patched camera and was using the time lapse feature recording candles burning at .5 of a second for 57 seconds (if that makes sense) and its pretty cool. Google nailed the time lapse feature.
What about the 4.2 browser and email client...that would be awesome for sure!

Photo sphere dosnt seem to work for me, the 1st pic comes out mega over exposed and then subsequent pics are so under or over exposed they end up as black or white tiles :/ any ideas of what's going on? I see others have it working.

try taking them in a well lit room or outside. id ont seem to have problem with over/underexposure unless its night time. the real problem is the photo comes out like a child stitched them. And Techronico is right. the more pics i take the messier it is. dont really see this as much of a feature just yet. maybe is future updates it would be easier

I can't get it to work, if someone succeed please tell me how to.
Download into your SD-card, go into /system/app and rename MotCamera.apk to MotCamera.backup, then move MotCamera.apk from sd-card to /system/app and give the right permissions.
If installed as normal app wiyhout rename the original camera app it will subscribe the original one and som issues will be posssible.

Yes works for me, ver 4.0.36.3_170407_1m. Slow motion only at 1/4 x speed, slow motion works even with front cam. Though depth mode dont work and some other modes says yiu need asus gallery app

I used app cloner (do a search for a version before the 22nd update-latest version cant clone Google apps) to install it as a separate app from default cam.
Worked fine that way for me.

I can take photos using the night sight mode and they are generally lighter than standard photos. But I've not seen dramatic differences like the posts about it on XDA so i assume it's not fully functional somehow
Any other app to clone google apps? Because the App cloner does not work in the latest version, and the older one calls an error and asks for updates.

Use this version of App cloner to install the app you want, you can give it a different name so it'll install.
Put it in airplane mode before installing then it won't ask you to update. Leave it in airplane mode during operation.
The cstark27 version with the real night mode only works on Android 9.
Today I modified the sdk to 27 instead of 28 in the apk, it installs but on opening it closes and gives error.
Unfortunately it only works on Android 9
But it goes so well at 8.1 in Pixel 2 that it's a shame to put android 9 just for this.

Can you tell how to do it? I cloned the camera app and named it to cameramod
Then tried installing the apk you mentioned but it says failed to install

its supposed to show an icon of some sort for pics taken with night sight mode

Night mode in this one doesn't work.
Night mode works, with a caveat, on this one: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/...1.013_B-S-G-based_v.0.4_TlnNeun_Fu24-Tele.apk
The caveat being that the viewfinder doesn't show anything (in night mode), but it says to hold the camera still and it does the night mode magic, which the other version doesn't.

Gotta say though, in the scenes where nightmode is needed, the viewfinder is pretty useless.
Under Settings, go to "bsg mod settings" set the front and rear cameras to pixel 2xl and turn on full night mode. reboot.
