I was just curious to see whats everyone is using to solve there lack of memory issue since the apps to sd update is kinda useless any way cause it doesnt move all files along with app and to see which app you guys actually perfer and why?
I personally am using folder mount. And even paid for the full version as you can select any folder and as many as you like works great.

Ok quick question. On my sd card is a folder called "android". Inside is a folder called data and inside here looks like app data. My question is can i delete this folder cas it takes up 6gb.
Reason im asking is before on old rom i had moved all apps to sd card but after new rom i installed all apps to phone mem instead. So now not sure if this folder is from now or if its all my old app data from before. Unmount of sd card and my apps still work which makes me beleive its ok to delete but thought id ask u gurus first before i cause major problems.

Some applications store data in there, for example the Amazon appstore caches all your APKs there, I believe Google Maps' cache is there, etc. In *general*, it's fine to delete it but just be advised you may actually lose some data/settings you don't know about. If you're cool running all your apps with the SD card unmounted, I don't see why it would cause you any major grief.
Well basically yeah figured that. Now if i delete it and i lost sum app data cant i just use tibu and restore it ?? That way i get of the junk...???

I doubt it, I don't think TiBu backs up the stuff on the SDCARD, but I could be wrong about that. I've only used it one or twice
Any input from anyone else before i try this ? The whole idea is to try and clean some space off of my already small sscard. Just didnt think i had 6gb worth of apps and thinking it came from before when i moved everything to sdcard. thats why im asking the question in my OP.

You could always duplicate the folder on your pc, delete it entirely from your sd, and see what happens. Run it for a few days, and try out all of the apps you regularly use. If all hell breaks loose, you could just put it back on your sd and delete portions more selectively.

Please report back as I'm interested in this as well
Worked great. Copied folder to my pc then deleted it off my sd card. Restarted phone and ultimatly it made a new android folder. All apps still work. Freed a bunch of space. Foind out Basically that folder contains all the data from games and any apps that may need "downloaded content". So dont delete it unless you feel like downloading all this data over again.

I'm glad it worked out.
I'm curious. Considering it re-downloads data, is the size of the new folder considerably smaller?

Well for me yes cas i think i had app files somehow from an earlier rom. Im not saying you will too im just talking about my situation so id be careful just in case.

I desperately need an app that can move files to my SD card on a NON-ROOTED phone. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions.
Thanks!

I'm guessing you need an app to move apps to the (external?) SD card , right? If that's the case, there are plenty that try to do just that, but they usually need root access. Those that work without root access (e.g. Apps 2 SD) are only able to move certain apps, as the vast majority does require root access to move them.
If you meant regular files, I think the default file manager would do the trick. Or any other file manager (e.g. Astro File Manager).

Sorry for not being more specific.
I'm definitely trying to move files to my external SD card. I think that I may have seen Apps 2 SD but forgot about it. Yea, that's the one major problem with the S3 is the inability to move apps to the external SD card. And, I'm painfully aware that most of the apps out there are for rooted phones, which just sucks.
Oh well, I'll download the A2SD app when I free up more space to do so.

I'm now at my breaking point with this dang phone! After deleting over 20 apps that have resided on my phone for months & moving dozens upon dozens of files to my external SD card, I'm still getting the annoying message "Storage space running out..."
I've attached a couple of screenshots from Settings > Storage Settings to see if anyone can make heads or tails from them.
Thanks.

Finally after doing some more research turned out one of the major culprits were the Miscellaneous files under Storage> Settings. Got rid of most of those & now I'm back to'normal'.

App 2 SD won't work on the S3. Your only options are DIrectory Bind and swapping external and internal cards using a flashable script

That's the first time that I've heard that one of the App 2 SD apps wouldn't work on a non-rooted S3. Directory Bind is just fine if you have a rooted phone, which I don't.

The Play store won't even let you download it cause it's incompatible. And it says that in the description

There are numerous apps that go by the same name so I guess it's a matter of who the developer of the one you're referring to. That said, agreed that most of them do have a disclaimer.
What gets me is in a lot of the reviews, users state that you can accomplish moving apps to an external SD card on the SG3 without an app on a non-rooted phone. Haven't figured that one out yet!

No, the S3 doesn't allow moving apps to SD

I know. That's why I don't get all of these various user reviews slamming all of the so-called S2SD apps because 'you can do it yourself on the SG3.

Your storage settings is missing the category "misc". If you had that category it would tell you. Have you tried using a good file explorer like "Root Explorer" to examine the folders on your internal SD card? Possibly something in a hidden folder that you are not seeing.
Apps might say 2.43GB but the data they are using could be much larger. Such as gameloft games and GPS navigational apps.

By the way I've soever the problem through the help of an app known as SD maid!! I was searching Google for a solution and found an article on lifehacker that claimed this app would totally suit my needs.
I've found that over the course of a year of gameloft apps, really dumb games I hated..and worthless apps that I've deleted, remnants were left behind, more specially, their data.
I highly suggest to anyone who is looking to clear up space use this app, it makes it clear what to delete!

I have had my galaxy s4 for about a week and a half now and love this phone. I still have 7 GB of space left, but tutorials online that show apps could be moves to the SD card. I have a Verizon Gs4 and when i go to application manager i do not see the option to move apps to the SD for all of my apps. I even tried installing a app that the tutorial shows was installed on the SD card and i could not move it. Has Verizon not launched the update for the S4 to install Apps to the SD card? It would be nice to move some apps to the SD card.
There should be an update soon. It is rolling out in Germany first.

At this point, we're unable to move apps to SD card. As you mentioned there is an update slated for the int'l version S4 - will be obviously after that b4 the Verizon mods are implemented. These is a app in the play store "folder mount" that could definitely help to maintain internal space: must be rooted

ok thanks for the reply
The update will be useless in regards to reclaiming space. You're better off buying the pro version of Folder Mount and using it to symlink Android/OBB.

If your comfortable with rooting, romming, etc... Most custom roms cut out a lot of the pre installed jazz. Off a fresh install of Clean Rom 1.9 I'm using less than 1gb of my internal storage.

Has there been any news on this?
If I'm running a custom ROM will my phone be able receive this update, or will I have to wait for the ROM to be updated as well? TIA
There is a nice program to perform this task ..You can Also transfer basic programs to external memory, but they need root...
Might I be so bold as to ask the name of said program?
Hello i´m from germany so my english isn´t so good and i hope you understand my problem. Since a few days i can´t update apps because i become a error report which says no more space but i have 2 GB internal memory free?. 2 or 3 days later i can´t install new apps too. I have the stock rom 4.2.2 with root, TWRP and Hacker Kernel. I hope you can help me.. I also tried to install a custom rom but i don´t find a rom that is better then stock and at custom rom my wifi can´t be enabled.
Help...
Nobody have an idea?
Google Play is only supposed to prevent you from downloading apps when you have 200MB of internal storage or fewer. However, I've seen this same problem at other random numbers like 400MB. Unfortunately, I've never seen the problem as high as 1.4 GB.
Although you aren't supposed to have this problem, you can definitely try freeing up space and seeing if the problem persists. If you have 3GB of free internal space and you still cannot download apps, there is a problem with Play. If the problem goes away, I would recommend buying an SD card where you can keep most of your data, and you will still be able to update your apps.

In your screenshot, it looks like 4.7GB is being taken up by media. If that is your internal SD, try moving the media to your 64GB SD. See if updates work then.

The only way to solve the problem you are having would be to isolate it. If you clear up some memory and apps start updating, you know that your phone has a limit of 2GB. In that case, always keep over 2GB free and try to move more data to SD. (I still don't understand how Whatsapp takes so much memory) If apps don't update after you clear the space, you know that Google Play isn't working the way its supposed to, and should probably contact support on their end.
Sorry I wasn't of too much help for you. Good luck!
