Hello everyone.
I have just recently purchased the Xperia Z Ultra and it's a pretty big phone.
When I press the sleep/wake button to unlock the phone, there is a slight delay before the screen lights up. Is it normal? Do you guys have it on your device as well? I didn't expect it to be like this since Z Ultra has very powerful hardware, so I don't get why there should be a delay.
Another thing I noticed in the promo video for Xperia Z Ultra by Sony was that the settings background was like a white colour, but on my Z Ultra it has black background and text in white. I have the latest software version available.
Looking forward to your answers.
Thanks.
Have you updated to. 471 yet? There's no lag at my end.

No lag with mine... I have seen reports of the screen turning grey for a split second before turning on tho.
if you installed bunch of crap apps it will be like that
Yes I've already updated to the latest software. The lag isn't that much but it's still noticeable, especially compared to my iPhone 5.

My ZU also has a really noticeable screen wake delay. It was similar the the Z on it's earlier firmware releases.
So I think everyone has it, they just don't realize it.
I am on firmware .471 (which is the latest I think). Pretty unhappy about this but oh well.

Thanks for that. I'm also on firmware 471.
So I'm assuming Sony fixed the delay in Xperia Z with a firmware update, right. Hopefully they'll do the same with the Xperia Z Ultra as well, and soon.
And I don't think the current firmware on the Z ultra is market ready yet. It's quite different from the one they showed during the launch. I'm hoping we'll get the update along with the global release (LTE) next month.

Go to Settings - About Phone and look at build number at the end. If your last 3 digits not 471 then download Sony pc companion and update.

I don't have the delay on mine, but I did watch a review on Youtube, and he mentioned that and how annoying it is. So maybe some have it and some don't.. Mine has brutal battery life, and the sim door pops open a few times a day.. others have other issues. Not sure what to say there.

Hi,
I just got my Ultra from Clove. My screen has a yellowish cast. Does anyone else have this? Switching off optimised backlight makes no difference, though turning brightness to full clearly helps. Thanks
AFAIK, it's fixed with firmware .526

Hello guys. Does the update really fixes the yellow tint? Has anyone confirmed it or it is a speculation and wish thinking?
Also, Any chance we Can modify White balance. APK from Xperia z, zl To work To our ultra? That would surely help To our situation...
Thanks
Maybe is my eyes but I am with .532 and still see yellow cast.

Hi all,
I'm still waiting for the update to find out....having said that, it looks less yellow now after a week of use........but on the other hand I might just have got used to it. It definitely has a warmer look to the screen than my galaxy note 2 - but then that was more blue.
Once I get the update, I'll report back.
Guys, please let me know how I can update the build on my phone to get rid of the yellow color on the screen. Do any of you have the build files that you can share? Are the build files dependent on the country the phone was bought in?
Can you please help? Would really appreciate some guidance.

Can't say that I love to many things aside from family, my girl, and my corvette..... Today I got my Zu and I can add it to the list. This phablet is phenomenal. There really isn't a better word to describe it. I've had all the best phones ever made and this one puts all of them to shame. Sure the camera and speaker aren't anything special but this screen and smooth performance helps you forgive that very quickly. Anyone on the fence about getting one get off that fence and scoop one up. You won't regret it.

It's indeed amazing :good:
Yeah, I usually take my Nexus 4 to work with me, since I'm too busy to actually use my phone at work and so it would be pointless to carry around the XZU, so I frequently have 3-4 day stretches in which I don't use the XZU. Whenever I switch back for school or off days, it's kind of like turning it on for the first time again. The change is so nice.

Congrats. I plan on getting the Z Ultra later this month along with the Sony power case. It'll be replacing my ancient Xperia x10a, and while it will be monsterous in my shirt pocket, it will be glorious to use.
I'll also be picking up a new VAIO Flip 13" model to replace my old Sony Tablet S. Between that and the Z Ultra, my mobile experience should be amazing!
The Z1 got the "Smartphone of the year" award and the Tablet Z got "Tablet of the year" award in Norway yesterday, so Sony is doing something right!

After using it for 3 days, i can say that i have my money well spent.
Pros:
1. Dat screeeeeenn..
2. Wifi range is superb, can go to second floor (where the wifi is on the first) whereas with my previous devices they can't detect it.
3. With its large body, surprising that it still fits into my chest pocket
4. Battery Life is good, even though not as strong as my previous razr maxx but that is expected
5. Can't wait to take a break with KitKat!
Cons:
1. Camera overprocessing.
2. No easy root method for now.. but i have migrated from Titanium Backup into Helium app so no biggie.. Only no mod for me now
O yeah i have some tips for battery life:
1. Don't install google aosp camera with gallery. It will take media scanning twice and preventing Stamina Mode to work
2. Turn off Google+ auto backup, or only allow it to upload while charging
3. Better to full drain the phone once and then charge it while it's off. But after that, please trickle charge it before it reach 50%
4. Don't use the phone while charging. Better to disconnect and then continue after you're done.

This phone is amazing. Just like many of you, I have used a lot of flagship androids - but this baby is special. Phenomenal display, smooth performance, no more messing around with pinch zoom and much less scrolling. Camera could have been better, but you'll get over it in no time. I'll eat my pride and share my darkest secret - I don't finally miss my 'buttery smooth' iphone 3G from 2008

It's not as bad as you think but it is better to not do so. Because if you use it while charging, the high temperature will degrade battery faster. So unless you know that your usage is low and not heavy, better to disconnect it and charge again after the device is cool again.

BatteryUniversity says so. It's like running while eating, or fueling your car while you're racing. Not applicable for jet fighter unfortunately lol but you got the idea.. but to some extent, i agree that light usage will not cause harm into your battery (much).

He asked if it's BAD to use the phone when it's charging, and let's be honest, it's not like you'll kill your battery within a week if you do it. Are you playing Vice City for 5 hours while charging? THAT might be bad in the long run. Checking the weather and FB a couple of times every hour? Not gonna matter.

Actually, there is a simple fix to improve and increase speaker volume.
I use the XZ1 Volume boost, it works wonders.
- Increased internal - external speaker
- Increased headphone volume
- Increased volume call speaker

Ps. You need to be rooted. Simply use CWM to flash the mod. Simple.
As per title, I did an upgrade via the phone (OTA) to the latest that Optus allow here in Oz, 4.4.2. Everything went according to plan, only thing being I didn't wipe (partly cause there wasn't a glaring option and I was in a hurry)
My issue, i can launch the camera, but as soon as i press the on screen shutter button all the other software keys and icons disappear and it appears to be stuck. You can press the power button and darken the screen then press the power button to get the screen saver, swipe away and get the back, home and recent buttons, as well as the other camera buttons.
I've loaded another camera app, but this behaves the same way, only when you wake it back up after putting it to sleep, it takes a couple of snaps...
I'm guessing it may be something to do with where my camera defaulted to send the pictures (SD card) and how Google don't encourage the external SD card these days...
Any one with similar issues?
BTW, it's not urgent - i'll just flash it again, or unlock and root again, or wipe it and put linux proper on it... just curious to know if other folk on here have had similar issues...
I guess i should debug properly and maybe let people know, but if no one else has issues, then it's probably bad DNA lurking in the darkest recesses from previous fiddling - but still odd, cause i went from stock to stock this time...

The exactly same thing to me, and use front camera is working fine.
To solve this problem, first, use Flash tool install 681 HongKong TFT,then change to Sony PC Companion, check for new firmware, after Sony PC Companion finish the phone update,
Everything working fine.
I have exactly the same problem with my c6833. I don't have the energy to flash another rom. The camera pretty much stunk anyway. I use my Nokia 925 to take pics even sans a Sim card.

To be honest, such an improvement is only skin deep. The more problematic issue is the native code where all the image post processing is done. Plus with the latest 757 version, the Superior Auto is pretty good actually, the first time ever that i have confidence in Superior Auto Mode. It's like they have reduced the standard ISO level on the Superior Auto just like Manual, so the resulting image is less filled with artifact. So please try it again

That is interesting. The camera is really sad indeed. Even though I do photography as a hobbie with a Sony NEX! (great cameras which makes it even sadder that the Ultra is so lame), so the built in camera is not crucial but now that I got my GF the Note 2 I can see how bad it is really is lol

Oh dear Lord. Don't buy the SXZ2. The very thought of making that purchase and then dying outside the store? Is it shock or a heart attack that is the cause of the deaths?
