EXTEND YOUR BATTERY LIFE
REQUIREMENTS
Most importantly your phone
init.d support (startup scripts during the boot)
file editor like root explorer
root access, busybox (rooted phone)
what's in init.d scripts?
4.1 cpufreq_governor
21cpufreq_governor script sets the governor that contorls the CPU's thresholds and sampling_rates
4.2 cpufreq_screenstate_scaling
31cpufreq_screenstate_scaling script defines the governor values and decides the actions based on the phone's state - conservative, ondeman, lazy, awake, sleep modes. I've changed lots of values from Calk's original script to save more battery power thru this script. As indicated in Calk's original thread for FD02, this script would not run if you have already installed some CPU control apps something like OC Widget, Quick Clock, SETCPU, and Android OC.
4.3 tweaks_GAURAV
41tweaks_kobridge script has almost everything in it to improve the network speed, sdcard tweaks, other battery saving tweaks, VM management, Kernel, wifi tweaks, etc. For some of the values in here, there are some overlaps with build.prop tweaks. So, if you do not apply the tweaks to the build.prop file, many tweaks would still work.
4.4 zipalign
zipalign is an archive alignment tool introduced first time with 1.6 Android SDK (software development kit). It optimizes the way an Android application package (APK) is packaged. Doing so enables the Android operating system to interact with the application more efficiently, and hence has the potential to make the application and overall the whole system much faster. Execution time is minimized for zipaligned applications, resulting is lesser amount of RAM consumption when running the APK.
If less number of applications with an unaligned home application, you’d see slower application launch times. This is the best case scenario. For a worst case scenario, having a number of unaligned applications will result in the system repeatedly starting and killing processes, struggling with lags and huge battery drain.
4.5 Wifi Sleep Wait timer
What this tweak does is, it controls the time until wifi sleeps after the screen turned off. By default, it's 15 minutes. So, even you turned off the screen, by default, phone will wait for 15 minutes and then turn off the wifi. By using this tweak, you will have the control over wifi idle time until wifi sleeps.
I HAVE FLASH THE ZIP BUT YET I DON'T SEE ANY IMPROVEMENT IN MY BATTERY LIFE (HERE IS SOMETHING THAT CAN REALLY HELP YOU)
IN THIS PROCESS YOUR PHONE NEED TO BE CONNECTED TO CHARGER
1) CHARGE YOUR PHONE FULLY
2) GO TO DATA/SYSTEM DELETE BATTERY STATS.BIN
3) NOW REBOOT YOUR PHONE (YOUR PHONE SHOULD BE CONNECTED TO CHARGER WHILE REBOT)
MORE
DOWNLOAD THE GREENIFY/TITANIUM BACKUP FREEZE THE APP LIKE WHATS APP BEFORE GOING TO SLEEP
(To any visitors to this thread,
Please Rate this thread based on your reading and tweaks that I provided. If the rate is too low, that means I'm doing a bad job in here! If the rate goes down below 4 stars, I'll stop providing these tweaks! So, please excuse me. Please don't rate this thread with the only reason that I do not provide the tweaks for your rom, which you are using! I'm using my own time for this just like lots of other users. Only the thing that makes me more happy and get focused on this would be your rates and 'thanks' on this thread)

Currently supported: Phoenix kernel.
There are no restrictions, all options/features including the OTA upgrade are at their full disposal and any S2 kernel can join the party.

I just had to reboot after the phone wouldnt wake from deep sleep, only had the kernel in for about ten min. It seemed pretty smooth though, I'll keep an eye on this one for a while.
Cheers OP for the new kernel dev.
After flashing this kernel, I'm having serious wake issues. If my display is off for any longer than a minute, i am unable to wake the device. Also, while my device was idle, i saw battery drop from 45% to 16% over the course of 15 minutes or so. While the device is being used, performance and battery are the best I've seen [so far] in any of the long list of kernels i've run.

Doesn't happen to me often but I sometimes have to press more than once (power/home) in order to wake up from deep sleep. Happens like 3 times a day but never takes more than 5 seconds. Since it's the first version I still have to smooth out some edges but so far I'm happy with the apparent results.
However, I'm going to include a known issues section with this.
P.S. Thanks for the feedback on bold, it's always nice to hear.

I was trying to wake the phone for about a min or so before rebooting, Ive had the same issue a couple of times with other kernels but they have come right like you said, after a few attempts. But i agree with the guy a couple of posts up, when i was using the phone it was very smooth, didnt have the crazy drain he had though which is good.
I've been using it for 2 days and no drain either. Smooth as butter.
Indeed, the main issue I've found is the annoying resistant deep sleep but never had to reboot it. Just as precaution I already added it to the main post. Oh, and an issue on the photo preview (not gallery) but I wasn't sure if it was a kernel or ROM problem.
Great to see you already pulled the trigger!
You are aiming for a killer kernel, and I'll be following this thread closely.
How stable/safe is this first alpha version?

Someone know the solution?

same here, and when i dial a no. the phone restarts....this was my first try...n m highly disappointed...i think cynagon is just an over hyped mod n nothing more than tha....
without codeworkx and his team's work you wont have ANY aosp roms
did you undervolt or chagned cpu settings?
or maybe its a app u installed thats overloading the phone
one more thing
cm9 is in nightly phase you cant complain on that
edit: looks like a recent patched messed the build
it is due a fix in time
I tried custom roms for the 1st time yesterday and have to add I am a bit disapointed in CM9. Utmost respect to the creators and the effort they are putting into this.
Here is my list of Issues.
1. No task manager
2. No file explorer (IO on the Play store is ok but not close to the original with works best)
3. Contacts look a bit meh
4. No sliding on contacts
5. No Samsung Dive support
6. The kb is way to small and with my big hands i keep on pressing the wrong keys
7. When I phoned myself from a other number there was no voice coming through on either end
8. .... Uninstalled
There are still a lot of work needed on CM9 from what I could tell and using the latest Nightly build was probably not the right thing to do. Nightly build was from yesterday.
This is in no way to reflect negatively on anyone but just my person opinion and what I experienced
Your personal opinion is bit flawed....
Forget about Samsung stuff and way things work In aosp.
So slide to call that's touch wiz.
Keyboard is Android, not cm9 scad works pretty well you have to get use to it.
If it was your first time flashing than I say please do a full wipe, including formatting system.
Cm9 is very capable of daily driver without any major issues.
Don't get me wrong. It looks awesome. And its very quick and stable from what i could see.
Thats just my personal preference. No point in being rooted if you cant get to the files. CM9 with the default File Explorer would have made it a very different story for me. Task manager is also somewhat a very nice to have cause I install and uninstall a lot of apps on a daily basis and without it is just meh.
It all boils down to personal preference.
left touchwiz for months and dont miss it at all

Contacts look just fine and work just fine.
You have ics task manager
File explorer is not bulletin in aosp, just put one that you use.
Calling and receiving works just fine too.
You certainly have issues with the flash, reflash after full wipe
Full wipe = format cache, data, system, internal storage, dalvik
Try another ROM
There are tons of different ROMs out there. I've tried all sorts but never a CM9 nightly because they warn you it might be broken and tell you not to complain about it.
Try something else and download a decent task manager. A lot of ROMs have one built in but I always revert to ES File Explorer.
It's all about testing and finding out what's right for you. You can always go back to TouchWiz if you want.

No, i dont change any CPU configuratin, and I dont know how to undervolt or overvolt CPU. I'm using Siyah Kernel 3.2.5 (released recently). There's something in ExTweaks to fix my problem?

use set cpu
there is a voltage menu
use the values from kernel test thread
for the phone issue wipe the data from contacts and dialer
You'd receive better support if you posted your query to the CM9 Discussion thread. ;p

CM9 and Boot Animation Sounds
Has anyone found a way to enable boot animation sounds on cyanogenmod9? I have read everything I can and have tried everything I have read but still cannot get this to work.
cm9 wallpapers
hi guys!
i'm using cm9 stable and i think is very smooth and fast and looks good too.
i have a question.
i want to remove the static wallpaper, not the live w. or cm9 wallpaper, but the stock wallpapers in 4.0.4 firmware.
but i can't find them using RootExplorer or TB.
can someone help me to find out?
thanks a lot
I've flashed CM9 on my S2 & its very stable & I seem to like almost everything EXCEPT Battery.
It discharges very fast. I end up charging daily.
I browse internet on wifi like for about an hour in a day & the rest of the time I explore the phone settings/features for a couple of minutes.
Voice calls - about 30-45min a day.

How to use the CPU voltage settings ?
How do I know which one is best for my phone ?
The Governers seem to be self explanatory & also when choosing a governer from the menu the CPU Max/min changes accordingly.
But I would like to know the technical details.

Thanks for reply,
at this moment we look only for advance functionality... which u think where SE / Sony mobile lacks... The wifi, notification fix, pre-rooted or batter efficiency is points which we are including in our beta releases.
at this moment we want to concentrate on feature like multi window or iphone calling screen, this are the few features which sony mobile dont have yet (Dont know about JB release).
Waiting for more innovative suggestions...
Thanks
Sagar
good luck
hmm and here are some suggestions:
-- flip to mute (like in galaxy s3)
-- smart stay (like in galaxy s3)

Theres an app for smartstay called iseeyou ..
JB is almost bugfree now... it would be soo awesome if u could base it on JB...
Id like the feature in which we can adhust brightness by sliding on the notification bar
Another thing that would be awesome is gesture controls .... I know about the app but those gestures are too complicated... I was thinking of something more like meego os... Like swiping from extreme left to right to switch to last used app... etc.
Also those new camera apps on htc and blackberry are awesome... in which the camera starts recording as soon as u open the app so that u can adjust the pics by rewinding the faces back in time... i know that was a horrible explanation but i hope u get it! That with zero shutter lag
And finally the gallery from note 2 where u can arrange the folder from the gallery itself!!

WOW lots of suggestions... thanks...
As we are implementing multiple windows into rom... nfinatemod will be first rom with multiple Launchers running same time...so this rom will have one sidebar launcher for select application which u want to use... gestures are efficient always we will think about it.
but this all suggestions from you are really helpful for us... we can think about them as we complete multiple windows functionality...
i will post screenshots of multiple windows as that part is ready for first test... so you can get understanding how it will enhance your way to use your SE phone.
regarding your all other suggestions... this Sunday official website is going live. i will create pole there with all suggestions... TOP 5 SUGGESTIONS will be included into first alpha release...
(Sorry guys i will like to add everything but we have other modifications too which we need to cover in alpha but remaining suggestions you can see in future releases.)
Please keep suggesting us to Enhance user experience.

Small App mod Music and RAM control in 'Recents app'?

Several questions and problems from rooted S3

Hi guys, I recently just rooted my SGS3 and I am experiencing some problems and have some questions to ask, I've tried my best to search for similar topics but they mostly didn't have a solution.
I am currently using SlimBean Build 5 & 020513-0832-cm10.1-i9300-linux3076-LINARO-temasek kernel
1) After I rooted my S3 and installed SlimBean, when I try to charge my S3 turned off, it is stuck at the processing screen and the LED doesn't light up. So how do I fix this?

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2) My current RAM usage is usually around 400MB+ (excluding cached apps), even with the recent apps completely cleared off. I've checked the Running Apps in the Settings and the numbers just don't add up. Any idea what might be causing this high RAM usage? (If I wanted this kind of high RAM usage, I would have stuck with stock TouchWiz ROM)
3) Considering I'm using SlimBean and Temasek Kernel, what Governer & I/O scheduler combo would you recommend for a balance between battery and performance? I am currently using Pegasusq & DEADLINE (with my current settings, less than 5 mins of using the phone just to scroll around would decrease the battery percentage by 1%) or are there any other kernels that would out perform the Temasek Kernel?
4) Because I've been experiencing some slight stuttering, I OCed my S3 to 1.5GHz, is it actually helping because I definetely still experience some slight stuttering or does it just cause battery drain and unnecessary heating up.
5) Do settings that I set using Trickster Mod and Slim Settings affect phone performance (battery drain, heating up, high RAM usage, etc)? E.g Digital Noise Reduction Control/High Dynamic Range Control/Digital Edge Enchancement Control and in Slim Settings mDNle Scenarios.
EDIT: New Questions
6) Here are some screenshots of 1. SlimBean's Performance settings 2. Trickster Mod 3.STweaks
As you can see, even thou the settings in SlimBean say that zRAM is enabled, it doesn't in TricksterMod and STweaks.
Also, same thing for I/O scheduler, 1. SlimBean Performance and 2.STweaks
So which settings do I use/follow?
1. It is normal, the screen will be in dark momentarily. Try long press power button 2 or 3 times to boot up , if it doesn't, wait for screen goes dark and then long press power button. or better yet, unplug charger !
2. That could be various reasons, for example some apps would have cached process which isn't running but loaded in RAM, also some RAM is occupied by necessary and essential Android System Process. It's natural of Android, and as Android has different kinda memory management that unlike windows, don't mind it, let it do its job.
3. Don't ask questions like that, such subject is forbidden in XDA for "what's best ", try for yourself.
4. can't say, consider the difference between android and iOS, you may still feel "stutter" even you overclock up to 3 Ghz. It is natural of Android, can't really help, but I would suggest you stay with 1.4, some system tweak and nice kernel with good configuration will diminish 99% of non-necessary "stutter ", again, don't ask which ones, you have to try for yourself.
5. Absolutely! Such setting is crucial!
Be careful of it if you don't what does any option mean!

1) Yeah, there's no problem with it other than the charging animation not working (Boots up fine), it's just gets stuck there, even while it fades away, when I press the home button, it still just shows this exact screen.
3) Not really a matter of "what's best", just what are the usual settings people use with this ROM & Kernal combination to prevent excessive battery drain and such.

Then you have to read the relevant rom and kernel threads as no such settings are posted on XDA .

That's exactly the point, each kernel, ROM has countless users who like it, and some peopke stick with one ROM or kernel in particular, but some people, like me, are keep moving around from one to another, so you ask 100 people here you will here 100 different answer,
Just try of them, you will know

there is an app called android tweaker.. try it and undervolt your cpu.. use less brightness
actually there are some roms dedicated for battery life..
Posted a new question
use any ONE app for tweaking, stweaks is better
and if you need RAM, as i mentioned above use android tweaker, it has everything
battery life tweaks, audio, screen, ram managing, and many other cool mods like BE2..
and there is no problem if you use slim settings, but trickster and stweaks depends upon on kernel
