Dear All,
Since a few days I've got the Huawei Ascend Mate Smartphone.
Huawei got the opinion that the Stock Android is not nice to work with etc.
Well I do like the Stock Android version and that's why I want to use their official Android Rom and change it to Stock as Possible.
But to get some more information to change the Launcher, Lockscreen and Settings I need to know where to Look.
For it doesn't make sense that if I add Novalauncher.apk or Tebuchet Launcer and delete the HW version that it will solve the issue.
Is there a site or a knowhow what which system APK is doing and what so ever?
Cause I dont want to annoy you guys with all these questions, but I need start somewhere.
SystemUI.APK for example, what does it do? I changed it, but dont see any differences.
If I add Trebuchet.apk to /system/app where do I need to change the fact that this will be the basic so when I do a new install the installer knows what to do.
If I'm getting further and further and I see the hanging out of it, I would like to merge from version 4.1.2 to 4.3.
I'm sorry if im one the thousend but Google did not help me with all my questions!
Thanks in advance!
Pull/remove/delete the stock launcher AFTER u install and activate the new one. Titanium Backup pro and ROM toolbox pro w/ Root Browser are good apps to use for this and worth EVERY PENNY. Don't forget to change permissions when needed and reboot afterwards for changes to take effect.

I did and thanks for your tips.
The only thing is that my lock screen is deleted and now I've got a strange lock screen that is not really in the middle. I think this is related to the standard android version. Any idea where I can find that one?

Time to theme it... You can manually do so if it's that much of a problem or DL a lockscreen app

No i want to learn, so I will check with 'theme'.

Hey all,
I was just wondering if there was a simple way to change the overall font in the aokp rom. I don't know much about working on the phone other than the basic flashing of roms and kernels. I noticed that there are some apps on google play but many don't seem to work well with ics. I'm only asking this because a little while back I used ShoStock2 and it had an option to change the font in settings->display->font.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
If this is an obvious method please do not attack me. I did do a search here and on google and only found apps and custom scripts (like I said, I'm not very phone savy and prefer not to mess with too many things on my own).
Thanks in advance

Another vote for Font Installer. I use it all the time. There are other ways to do it, but this is simplest (and safest, I'd say). It comes with a bunch of fonts available, but you can add others. Great app!

It does not work with core Gapps (AOSP launcher "Launcher3"). You have to use Google (apps) launcher for custom font. There is no font app (I know; FontInstaller, MyFont, iFont, Type Fresh,...) atm that's working with AOSP launcher. On my daily build of AOKP for flo (KitKat) it does not work at all.

Hello all! I am currently running CMX with a TouchWiz 5 theme. I installed the TouchWiz Launcher port along with a few different zips I have found across xda. My phone has most TW widgets, sounds and stock apps. I feel a lot of people would love to run this ROM. I have no idea how but is there a way for me to generate a zip of my setup so that others could enjoy it?
What do you guys think?

i like!!!! i would rock it all day!! :good:
Anyone that is interested or knows how to get the ball rolling please point me in the right direction. I am extremely happy with this set-up. Forgot to mention it even is running the SGS3 Camera Port as well. It's heavily themed.
please
I would love to contribute to the community. Just need to be pointed in the right direction. Similar to SVN?
The one thing I'd love to have on my ROM is the TouchWiz lock screen. My sisters both have SGII's and I love how you can flick away the lock screen

You can use this to make an update zip. Just put the apks in their respective places. The theme would probably be in data and the launcher in system.
The only issue I see is if this is the TouchWiz 5 theme you speak of it can't be included because it's a paid app.
Like the setup, i have been looking for something like this a little while.
Can you post how you did it in the meantime

I found another update zip creator that is more generic and less device specific than D4.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248486
Here's a guide that explains an easier way to mount system and data by using busybox instead of finding the mount points.

Edit: This thread will help you find mount points if you need too..

Edit2: ^^ I agree. Can you post what you used for everything? Where did you get the launcher, the widgets, the sounds, the stock apps, the theme, and maybe the wallpaper/s?
Anything new on this?

I wrote a couple of devs seeking help. I am a full time student and I work full time as well. I thought about releasing a HOW to guide. I have not given up.
Pimp my ROM seems to have the full tw launcher and some widgets. Cannot confirm if all are there. You can then get a tw theme from market and you should be set. I am on decks 10-10 build (4.1.2) and the theme is not working but launcher is

I think that this site is what you need

I apologize in advance for my ignorance, but what exactly is the LGhome3 and what will change if I use one of the one's that where linked above me? I see there is LGhome.JB4.apk and some others. I think i have an idea what LGhome3 is, but i guess im not exactly sure. Lol. Thanks in advance.

LGHome3 is the version of the LGHome Launcher that as far as I know, LG make it for ICS and partially upgraded with the 4.1.2 upgrade (It just add some wallpapers and some basic changes to the widgets). The LGHome.JB4.apk that you saw was a port from somebody in the community to make it available for 4.2 since the other versions FC and wouldn't work properly. Currently that port works partially and for 4.2 and FC when you try some things.
You can also see another version of the LGHome in the market called Simple Home by LGElectronics ( http://goo.gl/7eAVz ) and I think it was the version 2 since it doesn't have an app drawer, don't came with the widgets and it's compatible with Froyo 2.2.
About the themes you were looking for, LGHome has themes since version 2. Some carriers like AT&T block all the themes (I don't know why!) or only left 1 or 2 in their deploy, but they could be found at the Korean and Japanese ROMs.
Looking for a LGHome port to 4.2 I found some themes that work at http://goo.gl/bjjjr
Also found this other page where there's a link to download 10 themes for the LGHome at http://goo.gl/mKeIm
Please take note that to those themes to work properly they have to be installed in the /System/App folder (Need root access) and not in the /Data/App folder where the apps normally install when you use the installation wizard opening the apk directly. The links I provided previously have a very good tutorial of how to install them in a way that they work.
Anyway, LGHome is a very good launcher but if you are looking for another experience about themes and changing the appearance try another launchers like Nova and Apex that will give you a very Nexus 4 feeling and are very good saving battery life. Also you can use Go Launcher that have a lot of free themes. Or if you want to make huge changes or get very different experience check buzz launcher or MiHome that have some really good themes and some crazy stuff.
Go out there and try them all and every time you want to try something different, have more than 1 working launcher installed just in case and make backup of everything you overwrite in case you damage something.
Good luck.
^^ wow. That was one of the best replies I've gotten on here! Excellent! Thank you very much for the great information. That was above and beyond helpful. Thanks again. Cheers

Hello kite, what you need to do is install apex or nova, then adb pull /data/app
In your adb folder, you'll see either an app folder or the apps themselves.
Nova would be "com.teslacoil.launcher" or something. You should be able to tell which is which.
Any app pulled is usually "com" then the developer account, then whatever.
Just rename it to Nova.apk or Apex.apk.
Put it in your system/app folder.
To remove the Sense launcher, delete Rosie.apk.
Don't forget to press my thanks button if I helped you!

No problem dude, if you need more help just ask.
When you finish the ROM, I recommend you publish it to XDA.
Good luck and have fun!

I am looking for someone experienced in ROM making to help with an iOS ROM I would like to make. Don't worry, I will do stuff too:
•The home screen layout
•Settings app
•Basically all default iOS apps
•Wallpapers
•Anything else you could think of
The reason I am asking is because I have no experience in ROM making, but I'm an intermediate (borderline expert) at creating Android apps.
If anyone decides to help me, I would like to ask if you could create the custom dialog boxes like iOS 8, because I can't seem to do it with a normal Android app.
Thanks.
Why don't you just use an iOS launcher?
1. I like making my own apps
2. Why not make a ROM? :3

Well you're asking someone else to do the work for the base at least. I do see you are experienced in app making, which is pretty cool, but honestly compiling a base isn't that difficult, and all you need is a standard ROM base which you will be editing the systemui.apk and essentially creating a custom launcher (app) to go over, what specifically do you need a ROM maker to do?
Create the base files for it to run, then I can make the apps to go in /system/app and whatever else needs changing

But why can't you just compile AOSP/CM/OMNI etc.. and use that? Like what in a "custom" ROM do you need?
But iOS isint part of the AOSP It would probably be better to do it from scratch.

You cannot literally incorporate iOS into Android. It is a closed source custom OS that is somewhat Unix based. You would actually have to custom re-write the entire OS from scratch if you wanted to do it the way you are describing. The only feasible way to get what you're asking is a very heavily customized launcher over a regular Android base, kind of like MIUI. You would be hard pressed to find a developer who even wanted to hand code an entirely new Android base just to get the same functionality of a custom launcher. I don't mean to discourage you but I don't think you fully appreciate the amount of work you're asking someone to do.
Anyways, was really just trying to clarify your question to see if I could help, I hope you understand what I am saying here. Good luck with your endeavor.
The ROM would basically be the same as all others. I don't really want to modify the build.prop or anything myself as I will probably brick my phone. The iOS launcher side of it, won't be too hard. There are iOS launchers on the play store so it is possible. Most stuff could just be normal android apps like normal android launcher.apk. The only thing I would need help on is chsnging the default dialog box shape & colour to match iOS's one.
