It includes message preview in notification bar plus archive and quick reply button. Super quick love it. Also if you've ever re added an old gmail account and have 6,000 unread emails, gmail app won't let you mark them all read. This app does everything, and its less cluttered than K9

Interesting
Interesting; I'll check it out. It seems, at first glance, to be a reasonable implementation of PGP/GPG, a pretty secure email encryption system. I cannot imagine why PGP/GPG isn't more widely used--perhaps it's because of the perceived difficulty setting it up.
I do wish the developer was a little more upfront about the cost of the required keyring, though. I don't mind supporting software I use, and I buy the "contribute"/"Pro" versions whenever they're available. I really don't like the free-to-play, sneak-in-through-the-back-door marketing model, though.
True but squeeky mail has nothing to do with PGP keyring which is probably why he doesn't mention it. Although he still probably should have. The app works great for me, like dude says it dominates gmail. You can even set up alternate identities and some other cool stuff. Interface is really well designed too with a dark and a light theme. Both really modern and clean.

Yeah, I tried that and I kept getting a persistent message at the bottom saying that it cannot use it fully and that I need to reinstall it. So I reinstalled and got the same message. I then uninstalled and then reinstalled and got the same message. Looks to me like it's not working. Love how the dev releases a mail client whose whole purpose is to allow for encrypted emails and then forces you to buy his keyring....nice....NOT!

I'm currently trying to set it up. I cannot find any sort of walkthrough and the app isn't very intuitive regarding setting up the encryption. I've downloaded the Squeaky app as well as PVP Keyring. Could you give me some pointers to get it rolling?
It just looks so basic and plain. With all the changes to Android, I can't believe how ugly these email apps still are.

Hey guys,
Are there any (simple)tablet specific apps you guys would really like to see? I'm no star programmer(2nd year software eng. student with no experience before university) and I'm certainly not an android pro(really just got into android development in January) but I'll see what I can do. I've been working on some simple phone apps but I'd really like to get started with some apps for honeycomb.
If there are any fans of theoatmeal.com, I'm thinking my first honeycomb app will just be a simple viewer for his comics. Nothing complicated, just a list of comics on the side, with an image view which you can swipe to change panes in the comic and then some tabs at the top to filter(all, cats, grammar, food, animals, tech - just like on the website). I wish I could work on it this weekend but I'm leaving for my parent's in about half an hour and I don't have my laptop with me(just my galaxy tab 10.1).
Anyway, let me know what you'd like to see.
Automatic about :debug desktop view app.
A deviantart app so I can see images quicker and easier.
that's actually a good idea. It's really frustrating to have to put that in every time. Not sure how to do it exactly, but I doubt it would be too hard.
I've never used deviantart myself but that is something I could look into.
I'm thinking of trying to make an app that can send text messages when connected to a phone via bluetooth. Not sure if it will happen but it should be an interesting project. I was originally planning on doing it with google's push api but that would be more work and probably isn't necessary(do you really want to receive text messages on your tablet when it's not in range of your phone? I wouldn't).
That would be useful. Heck even away from the phone would be useful for many people. When "away" SMS gets forwarded to email or gv.
I believe blackberry playbook has a lot of functionality between phone and tablet. Anything to increase the handshake between android tablet phone would be great. Even if its a chrome2phone style sending a map or website back and forth.
Data recorder
For some reason the 3G watchdog app doesnt work correctly on my galaxy tab 10.1v. A working app designed for the tablet would be nice, unless other people have other suggestions I could try out.

I'm a student and would like to see more apps that I could use like the notebook app for the htc flyer. Something that looks professional and simple. Like having a word document on your tab. There's a few out there but none that are entirely convincing. From what i've heard there are apps for other tabs that can record lectures, have word recognition, among other really awesome things. Assus has a decent app for it too I guess, but i'd like to see it on the galaxy tab 10.1 forsure.

You can turn the word prediction on in keyboard settings for Samsung's keyboard. it's called XT9 prediction. Even the stock honeycomb keyboard does have prediction.
I wasn't entirely convinced by the stock keyboard nor Samsung's keyboard so I bought Thumb Keyboard from the Market. I haven't looked back since

Create a lockscreen replacement for honeycomb where you can define app shortcuts to place around the unlock circle similar to the unlock icon and drag the smaller circle to each shortcut to launch the app. Similar to sense 3.0 but for honeycomb!

i'm new to Android and i gotta say, i really like the Android App store better than the iPhone's.
anyone else in the same boat as me and liking it?
seems to have alot more apps (and alot more free USEFUL apps). of course, this is probably because Android phones are so customizable & open.
two things i'd like to see is:
1) improvement of the screenshot / sample pictures in the description of each app. the ios sample pictures are high quality. the Android's sample pictures are honestly just terrible.
2) a way to order each app by: highest to lowest price; average user review; free to paid; etc...
otherwise, the Android App Market has been a very nice surprise for this former iP guy
Recently switched from an iphone and I love the android app store
only thing is that a developer is most likely to make an app for the apple market before making it for the android market. like that game temple run
Have you been to the webpage on your desktop computer? You get a little more functionality there. And you can see a little bigger screen shots. If you're signed in, you can push the apps right to your phone from your computer.

Hi All!
As it says in the title, can someone recommend a good note taking application that has a desktop application?
I've read a bit about the topic and Evernote comes to mind. However, it's not free. Thanks in advance.
Bumping this to the first page.
AFAIK, Evernote is free with additional features added in a premium subscription. If you are looking to something completely free and lightweight, try Google Keep, it provides web access and also Chrome extension.

Yes, Evernote is indeed free up to a certain point but 60MB, even for full text notes, isn't sufficient.
I tried migrating my notes to Keep right now and I think this might actually work. I've read about it in the past but it didn't appeal to me because of the lack of an actual desktop client (I never used Chrome Apps before). Thanks for suggesting it!
Pros:
1. Very clean interface
2. Offline note taking and viewing in both the Chrome Application (More on this later) and the mobile client.
3. All features are free!
4. Sync seems to work flawlessly
Cons:
1.Chrome Application means I have to sign in to Chrome and disable all syncing except for Apps as I don't like syncing my data onto Google.
2. Chrome Application is preventing me from maximizing notes as I edit them. I have wall-of-text type of notes and this really hurts my eyes. I suppose this can be remedied by changing my note taking habits.
3. I can't re-order my notes. They are shown in ascending order by date created?
All in all I think I can make this work. I just need to re-arrange my notes for this specific application. If anyone else has any input or can show me how to relieve myself of the OCD inducing annoyances I've found so far, please chime in
I haven't really used Google keep yet (already a long time user of evernote) but have you looked into one note by Microsoft? It has a free version. Lifehacker.com just did an in depth comparison of evernote and one note. Might be worth looking in to.

Yes, I recently saw that article. But this completely shut down the idea for me. Apparently, I'm only able to use this in the paid version:
Create notebooks on your PC. Create notebooks saved to your hard drive (offline) in addition to being saved to your OneDrive. Being able to work with notebooks offline as well as online is great for anyone with a spotty network connection or those who are always on the go.

But, I'm not so sure I understand what it means. Basically, I need to be able to access my notes offline (I don't have a mobile data plan) and once online, be able to sync them again. Since you folks seem to have experience using it, can you tell me how it works?
Honestly, I was able to see the UI of OneNote and it seemed a lot more appealing to me.
I tried out one note briefly awhile ago and it should do what you want. The paragraph you quoted seems to say the same. The notes are saved offline and they sync with your one drive account.

Accessing it from there has the same exact interface as the Keep Chrome Application. Thanks for the suggestion though
I still wasn't able to find the time to test out the free version of OneNote. Been a bit busy today. I suppose I could take a note that I should test OneNote in Google Keep which I'm currently using
I'll make a short review once I'm done doing just that.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Edit - It seems I haven't found the time to review OneNote. In addition, Keep serves me very well. The only real caveat I have with it is the inability to reorder my notes.
Edit 2- It seems my brain is tired and after a week with no suggestions from other users, I've finally figured out how to move notes around.
One simply needs to click and drag the notes around. < How I didn't figure this one out seems baffling to me. I need to exercise my brain more :'(
Everything I'm seeing concerning this ends around the beginning of 2013. Did development come to a hault?
I would love to load this onto my EVO 4g LTE, but it seems it isn't very friendly with the device (no data, sound, etc).
Thanks for any current update

I must admit that I also struggle with their approach a little.
Think they should focus more on the very basics, like APN settings. I don't get a data connection so one of the most important requirements fail. Can't use such a system.
Next should be essential apps like (xmpp/jabber) Messenger and Mail instead of useless games or stock ticker app. At least on the mail side there's some action ongoing.
Nevertheless I'm very excited and looking forward to use it as a daily driver (some day).

Samsung pass doesn't work. What do you guys use I just came from iphone and it has a password manager built in. What free ones are available
1password. Works everywhere and on everything.
Bitwarden has a free account offering and their premium is very cheap.
Bitwarden is free, open source and the premium is literally $10 per year if you wanted it but it's not needed, everything is available for free except the encrypted cloud storage.
I use Bitwarden's $10 a year tier so I can use my YubiKeys with it.

Good luck if your Google account ever gets breached. Or if Google one day bans your account like they've been known to do to others for seemingly no reason. I used Google's password manager for years but when this flaw was pointed out to me, I switched to Bitwarden that same day and I haven't looked back.
It's also very easy to breach your Google account and thus all your others if your phone is stolen.
Like iPhone, a stolen Android phone's PIN could be used to change Google account password
A report from The Wall Street Journal last week sounded the alarm on an obvious, but frightening issue on iPhone...

Google also thanks you for all your data. But in all seriousness don't keep all your eggs in one basket. Using 1 service or company for everything (Like Google does) is a terrible security practice. I'm not saying don't use Google, I'm saying don't use it for everything PLUS (tinfoil hat time) the way things are going with less and less privacy, I expect Google to start using passwords saved in its services in an attempt to provide more services to users but in doing so they have access to everything about you, bank info, cellular carrier login, other email logins, everything and frankly that would frighten me. This is why I self host on bitwarden, everything is in my hard drive AND encrypted on backblaze.

I definitely agree. I might just be really lazy and don't care anymore. I could tie tomorrow and all the passwords I had would be irrelevant lol.
Does Google password manager fill in apps?
I second avoiding LastPass. In addition to the semi-annual breaches, their pricing is ridiculous. $50/year to store 100kB of data in the cloud? There has been zero evolution to their app over the last 5 years, so it is not like they have heavy RnD costs.

Is it worth the risk for that slim chance? If someone gets ahold of your online identity, they can ruin every part of your life in a matter of minutes, all while you're totally locked out from being able to stop them. My Bitwarden isn't even tied to my Gmail address for the login and I keep my 2FA in Authy separately, with Authy set to not allow multi-device. It would be pretty difficult for anyone to breach me unless they put in a lot of work that my meager net worth wouldn't be worth doing.
Besides, Bitwarden is actually more convenient than Google's password manager in a lot of areas. When enabling the accessibility options, I've noticed that the password popup shows in places that Google's never did which means less having to manually copy and paste.

KeePass Offline; only caveat is that you have to back it up manually (so each time I update it, I copy it to other devices in case the phone dies or is erased or stolen; my password is super long but I only have to remember one password).
