Hello, I have EVO 3D GSM, over a year old, and I want to ask for any suggestions. USB mass storage doesn't work at my phone, it just charges. Computer doesn't see it also. I'm sick of this question, I have searched all forums to find a solution but I didn't get it. Please help

Do you get pop-up on evo's screen asking you to select either to charge or mass storage or tethering . If not change USB connectivity options from Settings
Cheers !

If I have to say one bad thing about the Wing it's the USB 1.1 transfer and how painfully slow it is! I actually use my Treo 650 to transfer files to it! Do yourself a favor and get a memory reader!

How do you do that!!! Please tell me!
Well i'm new to these forums..
but it appears "USB" is too short a word to be searched for on these forums, cant find any info on this (enabling 2.0) online
lol there is no such thing as 'enabling' usb 2.0, just use a memory card reader to copy stuff into and out of your micro sd card. the cable that syncs the wing to the pc is probably already usb 2.0, it's just that the wing is too slow to read and write the card.

With my Touch HD when i connect the phone via cable i can access the SD card like another drive. It doesnt seem to be possible with the Hero. Is it possible? Am i missing something? If its not its damn annoying to say the least!!
RTFM!
Pull down the notification screen and tap mount SD.
Call me old fashioned but i would have liked a real manual, not a PD bloody F! But thanks, saves a lot of hassle.

Bit hard to read the manual when its on the fecking SD card... which you're wanting to view by plugging the phone into the computer... We don't all have an SD card reader

Cannot the hero view pdf files?
actually, my hero came with CD. Manual was also there. BTW I used to have problems mounting sd card... checking box near USB debugging in menu>settings>applications>development solved my problems.
funny, this was covered in the printed Quick Start guide that came in the box with mine.....
Does anyone know what file controls the USB mass storage toggle?
I am stripping down a ROM and I lost USB Mass storage and was hoping someone may know off the top of there head.
I think it is PSCII.apk

That's what I was just gonna say. That's the one!
If thats correct... You guys just saved me so much time!
I am pretty sure you are right but cant test for a few hours.
When i was "cleaning" I remember pulling that file because I thought it was related to HTC Sync... Which I guess it is in a way, lol
Thanks
That fixed it, thanks again guys!
You got it, glad to help. I was theming my 4G and couldn't find the damn .png for the USB connectied Icon for hours ... finally found in that damn file.
Ok the Samsung Galaxy S3 sucks.. every single time I reboot phone the android is upgrading happens to optimize the apps with Link2SD. Also no damn USB Mass Storage it's crap MTP. This phone is UTTER garbage!!!
I'm going to trade it in for a real phone the EVO 4G LTE that does not have the problems with SDCARDS and UMS.
Hopefully wireless and mobile speed is better also it's crap on this phone.. Hate it and it's not even been a full day! BULL**** no UMS and NO DAMN reviews or comparisons brought up this crap MTP!
Hell yeah! JOIN THE DARKSIDE! =D you'll love the feel of sense
btw samsung has been known to be screwy with sd cards
MTP is the way of ICS. Evo LTE does do USB Mass Storage as well, but you can only access the removable SD card. MTP lets you access both internal storage and your SD card at the same time.
Why would he trade when he can just return it and get a brand new one.. he only had it for a day

This is EXACTLY what I did. I had the GS3 for a week. It was ok, but I had quite a few problems connecting to it via adb and things like that. For what I like doing with the phone, the EVO was a better choice for me.

Yep, that's exactly what I said in my post, you can access both. MTP = Media Sync. I was simply pointing out that ICS now uses MTP (Media Sync) for transferring files via usb instead of USB storage. That is, unless a manufacturer modifies the code to do so.

Hey guys,
I did a search but didn't find a relevant thread to the One m7. The lack of SD card slot is a little concerning to me. As long as I can plug it in to my PC and it sees it as a "removable thumb drive" of sorts, I'll be fine without the SD card. Can anyone confirm this functionality? Or is it locked to crap like an iPhone?
Trying to decide between the One and S4. Not an easy decision by any means. I really like the One but I must be able to load custom ROMS and root/unlock bootloader.
Thanks

Almost all if not all Android phones will show up as a drive when you plug them into a computer. The HTC One is no exception. It shows up. It also has USB OTG support so if you get a proper cable you can plug flash drives into it.
Awesome, thanks. I've had my EVO 3D since it came out, and it's been a pretty good phone but I'm due for an upgrade!
So, does the One show an "internal" SD card of sorts, is it a different partition? Just wondering if the process will be the same when booting into recovery to flash ZIPs and what not.
I don't understand how people can cram more than 25GB onto a phone. -_-
Well, I like to be able to use my phone as a removable thumb drive, and I also have Bluetooth in my Jeep and love streaming music from my phone that way. It works great. I have a sizable music collection and also like to keep software installs and other things handy (I work in IT) So the 64GB model is looking pretty good right now if I can still do all these things the same way I did before.

It mounts as a single drive. In windows, it shows up as a Portable Device, HTC One, and it is just a drive. There is a separate partition for the HTC Sync Manager.
The first time I plugged it in, it needed to install the USB drivers. After installed, I had to reconnect it, and it mounted the drive.
Additionally, I did not have to change the USB settings, toggling between USB Drive, or charge, or sync. It just shows up. Somewhat different than what I'm used to on my Inspire, but works much smarter now.

We have very similar goals ... :highfive::highfive:
but want to have an un-secure partition for USB flash drive. I use this as a tablet so I need to have usb flash drive access.
Is there an app for that yet? Aside from doing all the grunt work of shelling into the root / moving directories by hand?
There must be a better way.
