so I got this phone, mediatek MT6589 1,2ghz with 1080x1920 resolution display, GPU powerVR SGX544 (those are what it says on the spec)
when playing 2D games, there are no lags, stutterings, i got smooth animations and responsive controls.
but when trying to play 3D based games, i only got like 5-10 fps, even for low end games like asphalt 6, riptide 1, minion rush, etc.
some 3D games have the option to lower textures, effects, shaders, but some don't.
What I'm trying to ask is :
- Can we tweak, modify build.prop to trick those games (that do not have quality settings in options) to load low quality graphics? If we can, which line?
- I tried to install "resolution changer lite" from the playstore, looks like when I change resolution to 1024x600, every games run smooth without lag. But this resolution changing really messed up my homescreen, icons, menus, even hardware buttons don't work.
FYI: for reference this device's antutu score is 12000+, 2d score= 600, 3d score = 2100
You need the full version of the app or use a dpi changer app.
For the correct value type un google dpi calculator, the value combine width, height and screen size.

Is there a way to change the Display output resolution in Android?
I'm not talking about the screen density (DPI). I'm talking about the pixels.
The thing is I own an Acer Iconia A700 FullHD tablet but there is lag, especially on 3D games that forces the native screen resolution of 1920x1200.
So forcing the resolution from 1920x1200 down to 1280x800 would theoretically reduce those lags.
So it works with some games that comes with an option to change the resolution, but most games doesn't have an option, they simply run in 1920x1200 and lag really badly.
Is there a way to change the overall resolution down to 1280x800 ?
I know it MIGHT be possible but there could be a problem because the image has to get upscaled to the native display resolution.
And I don't know if the Tegra 3 comes with an hardware scaler.
So if the resolution gets changed, it might get upscaled and filtered (or not) OR just centered in a smaller image in the middle of the screen.
But either way.. Is it possible? if yes, how?
Thanks in advance.
[Q] Change Smartphone Display Resolution FHD 1080p to 720p via soft?
This is possible?
Currently many smartphones are already FHD, but what if we want to reduce to 720p to improve performance, it is possible via software? something like in windows, or is not possible unless you edit the kernel?
This an interesting topic.

I have a strange issue with games graphics The Dark Knight Rises v 1.1.3 after updating ICS P760 on JB.
Before, game worked with highest graphics setings, advanced lighting & shaders, high resolution textures..., now on JB game looks poor, without lighting efects, texture resolution is low, etc. I try to install different versions off this game but all have same low profile graphics.
Other high graphics games like most wanted, dead trigger... work the same on JB on highest graphics setings.
Maybe the problem is impossibility to install chainfire3d in JB?
if someone plays this game on L9 updated on JB with high graphics setings, please let me know, which version should I use, or how to tweak maybe a required file, etc??
Hello I would like to ask if there is a application like Samsung's https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.gametuner.thin&hl=cs I had S7 Edge for a month and I could control Resolution / Max FPS / Textures details via the application so I could set max. quality or maximal battery / performance and lock it for 15-20-30-35...60 FPS
It was just great... I also got Zenfone 2 720p version where for example Dungeon Hunter 5 looks like crap with low textures and low FPS. And I would like to make it look nicer.
Is there any way how to do that with similiar app to Game Tuner?
Thanks
I was wondering if it was possible to change the rendering resolution of the phone from 1080p down to 720p? But I still want to retain the scaling of things. The reason I want to scale it down is because I'm fine with 720p if it means I can push the processor to perform better on games (because it's rendering fewer pixels) and to save battery (smaller screen resolution would mean less stress on the processor = more battery saved).
Just to clarify, I'm not looking to change the DPI, I can use the App Settings xposed module for that. What I want is to lower the rendered resolution so that the processor doesn't have to spend more resources in displaying things.
Hi, I have a problem with my redmi note 4x is a problem with the mortal Kombat game and at the original resolution you can see how the game has no liquidity, I read that you need to have root and the application gltools goes wonder, the button true does not work for me, then to play xposed and app setting do as I write or what my mind tells me and the same frames can be seen as there are a lot of effects and animations in the game like flames etc, the last thing that works is by the android terminal as typing in size 720x1280 and in density 280 and then it's great extra cool but this changes the resolution of the whole phone, and I would like the phone to be original, ie 1080x1920 and 460 no, but then the game is cut, can be done to change the resolution in the game itself if so, please answer
