I own Sony Tablet S since last 90 days but has a lot of problems, it has been at the service station due to its issues for more than 45 days.
The features/functions included are really nice, but the company doesn't care for the customers.
I called and mailed the Customer Care for more than 20 times, but didn't got a revert even once.
I somehow got a replacement, but the same issues were there in that one too.
If not wrong, I got the promises from the Customer Care around 20 times to revert back, but just got 1 revert back.
The major issues I am facing are
1. Wi-Fi disconnects regularly
2. Wi-Fi doesn't have proper range which you can even see in the youtube link as follows:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FRb855gBMo
3. The device hangs a lot when loaded, stops responding for a long time and the only solution remains is to Restart/Shutdown
4. The screen doesn't get unlocked many a times even upto 30 seconds after pressing the unlock button.
5. GPS connectivity issue: Connection to GPS only remains if you stay at a place, not if you move anywhere from a particular place.
BUT THE WORST problem I am facing is the WORST COMPANY SERVICE.
The stupids don't just know any status of the problems most of the times.
They promise to call/revert back, but I didn't get any reverts of my e-mails from the 13th of April 2012. I can't understand why is this happening to me ???
Any1 facing any of these issues ???
Please provide me reverts unlike SONY
I have the same problems 3 & 4 as you. And most probably caused by the WiFi connection.
I have sent in my Tablet for repair cause after a month of usage - the battery cannot be charged.
Hopefully the ICS update will solve these few problems.
I'm from Singapore and Sony after-sales service sucks all around the world except USA, Japan & maybe UK. That's where all their customers are at. =)
Sorry to hear you're having problems.
If you've had the same wifi issues with 2 tablets then it's unlikely to be a hardware problem and more likely to be a compatibility or settings issue between your router & tablet.
I'd try connecting to another router or network or if this is not possible look at temporarily removing security and possibly changing channel settings on your router. There are other threads here which discuss some wifi issues. Make sure your router has the latest firmware installed and do make sure you've updated to the latest version of Android for your region as this has been known to help
Wifi will disconnect when the tablet goes to sleep but should connect again within 10 secs or so of waking up Unless you download an extra app which forces constant connection.
With respect to the laggyness and crashing what apps do you have installed? I'd be tempted to point the finger there first before blaming the tablet, might be worth going through them and seeing if you can narrow it down to a dodgy app or one that doesn't like the Sony much. Certainly like above get the latest android.
I hope the issues get sorted swiftly for you.

Wifi is a known unsolved issue the rest is not really nmormal, but why don't you try to contact sony vaio service wich contains tablet s also
Agreed with James. If two tablets have WiFi problems, it's almost guaranteed that is a problem with your network environment, not with the Tablet. I have never had a problem with the WiFi and it always reconnects easily.
Also +1 for the app suspicions. Most of those issues sounds like they could be coming from an app (particularly 3 and 4), so try factory resetting your device then installing apps slowly one-at-a-time, waiting about 24 hours between installs to see if any apps cause this behaviour to return.
As for replies from customer service, I can't help you there since Sony replied to my only support Q within three days of my message. Make sure you have the right address, and then try Vaio Service.

Thanks for reply dude, but you'll really be amazed to know that
My router doesn't have any issue, it has been upgraded to the latest firmware.
To add I connect the same router with 2 Nokia E6-00, Nokia N8-00, Nokia E63, 2 Sony Vaio Laptops, 2 PC with a linksys usb modem, Samsung Galaxy S, Nokia E71, Lenovo Laptop, Samsung Galaxy Note, Sony Walkman Live, a lot Iphones of my customers get connected to it, a lot ipads get connected to it and none of them have problems, why this is the only 1 ???
About softwares, again a shock this is a problem when my Tablet was just opened from the box even, it is still there and I guess will remain forever, and if you guys don't know, just check the youtube link I provided, it explains a lot.
Anyways thanks for the help
And even I use 4 Sony Vaio Laptops and always suggest Sony to my friends and relatives, but this time I faced the worst cause they promised me to revert back almost 20 times, but I got a revert only once. What the f**k
Guys please reply if any of you are facing the same problem or not ???
Hi XDA Users
I use my SGS2 for wifi tethering and I wonder if anyone can help/recommend or merely explain why the speeds I get when my laptop is connected to my phone using the in-built wifi tehering tool vary so much (please see attached picture)
Last night for instance I was achieving 1Mbps download speeds while using a torrent client but today I struggle to get 50kps.
Is there an app to show me what speed the phone is connected to my laptop is and in anyway control the settings?
I don't believe the variation of 20kps to 1Mbps( it hit 1.1Mbps at 1 point) can be down to the network directly, meaning traffic etc.
I use a rooted SGS2 with DiLiDroid ICS - UHLPS rom/kernel etc, ( purely for jkay deluxe settings) on the 3UK network with Unlimited/All You Can Eat Data.
Any thoughts, explanations, recommended apps, ANY REPLY frankly will be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance guys, more than once this site has come up trumps for me here's hoping it does again
got a few ideas but it doesnt really matter why just how to fix it, try and use some different combos of wifi tethering. first you need to troubleshoot and find what the actual problem is. try it with usb tethering and see if you have the same problem. if the usb is fine then its a problem with the wifi and not the data connection, so on and so forth. you need to narrow it down until you can provide enough information so people can actually help you.
in situations like this, you havent given much info and you havent (by the looks of things) dont anything yourself to try and narrow down the problem. all youve done is noticed something isnt right and come straight here to get us to do all the work for you. i dont know why thats happening and ill be suprised if anyone can give you a definite answer. there are just so many points of failure in your problems its impossible to say which one it is without you giving way more information and doing 99% of the work to fix this problem yourself.

I don't know how to ''trouble shoot'' my problem, that is why I asked for any sort of help i.e apps that I should use to help identify the problem.
I didn't noticed a problem and come straight on here, I searched google for a good few hours but the results were not connected to my problem, which is also why I asked for tech-minded people to give me advice, I don't know where to begin.
This morning I was getting 500+kps downloads while wifi tethered so I'm certain it is not a data/network issue.
I will try usb tethering BUT I would still like any advice WHATSOEVER from anyone who may read this, cheers
That your data speeds are so variable almost certainly points to perfectly normal network/congestion related issues. This kind of thing is a frequent problem faced by users of mobile networks all over the world.
You do realise the data speeds you'll get at any given moment will be determined by a) the number of people using the cell you're connected to, b) how much traffic your carrier has going in/out of its network to the 'outside world' (and how much backhaul it has) and c) how much traffic the network that the site you're trying to access (or the people assisting you to steal copyrighted material) is experiencing.
These factors will naturally/obviously cause data speeds to fluctuate much more widely on a wireless/mobile connection than they would over a wired connection.
Postfatal is absolutely right re: there's sod all anyone here could tell you to 'fix' the issue. It's basic troubleshooting. Similar steps to what you'd follow if you thought a PC internet connection wasn't up to par. Google is your friend if that kind of thing is beyond you.

try with some third party 'wifi tethering' apps from store and see if the issue persists with that also

I seriously doubt a range of 20kps to 1.1Mbps can be down to traffic on the network, I'm backed up by thinking this because I can download on the phone directly at close to 1Mgps speeds consistently and then tether and get close to no speed at all.
It seems that if I reboot the phone and then leave it for a few minutes before turning wifi tether on it will connect at a higher speed, I would love a way of ''forcing'' the phone to connect at it's highest level available, but I don't know if thats possible or how I would even do a google search on it, what search terms are you suggesting? Everything I try gives unrelated results.

USB Tethering makes no difference to the speed whatsoever, has that narrowed it enough for someone to maybe give me some advice?
Will someone please tell me what tools/apps/pc programs I can use to attempt to identuify the problem myself? PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE?
The only semi-useful app I've found is UpDownMeter free, but this only tells me lol the up and down speeds, interesting but not of any use.
Come on guys you guys are smarter than me, been there done it etc, help me help dudes
Hi all,
I recently purchased the archos 80 titanium and have found the WiFi seems to be terrible regarding signal strength and also download speeds when connected to a network, I downloaded the new upgrade that was suggested when I first started the device but this seems to of done nothing, does anyone else have this issue or know of any possible solutions to rectify the issue? I've emailed there tech support but I can imagine there response to the issue when I get 1 that is, that it will be an error at my end and not there's!

I have the same issue (seems to be a known issue looking online) but it seems to be better or worse depending on the access point I use.
I have a Plusnet router at home and it was pretty bad with that but I plugged in a D-Link access point in another room and it seems to like that better. When I'm at work I use a Meraki and works well with that too.
I think it seems to be very fussy with access points. I hope they do release an update for the WiFi drivers or something to give it some extra juice!
It's a shame really as the tablet does actually have the potential to be good, I've come to realise that I don't think it's really a software/firmware issue I just think the WiFi receiver's that are in the tablet are of a poor quality but then again I could be wrong just wish they would release some information of a new firmware and what there suggesting the new firmware would be updating to see if there ever planning on addressing the issue.

I'm going to buy it, is this still a problem after the new update?
thanks a lot!
EDIT: Never mind, tested it on other phones and it works fine. Apparently my phone's hardware has broken Bluetooth. Great. Might just switch phones because of that.
Okay. So, I took the plunge and bought the Sony Smartwatch 2. It's a nifty device, and I've had my eyes on it for a while. But here's my problem - It'll stay connected via Bluetooth, but it won't sync information. I've already asked around on those forums - Those guys aren't much help. The thing is, I think my phone's Bluetooth is faulty or malfunctional. It doesn't work with my MOGA controller either.
I am sincerely asking, is there any way to fix this?
And yes, I know this isn't the right forum - But I'd be drowned out by everyone over there asking about Security Errors because they didn't read.
Thanks in advance. I'm flashing Kuma's ROM again (Currently on V21D from Wind) and factory resetting, going to see if that'll fix it.
Anyone notice that the xa ultra has some wifi connection issues? For example I'm connected fine and everything and I leave my house and come back.. then it doesn't seem to pick up my home's wifi. I have to restart the phone then it comes back. Anyone else notice this?

Every. Single. Day. I leave my house and the wifi won't reconnect at school, or home. I restart my phone and it connects just fine. When I'm at school it won't connect until I restart, and then it connects there fine as well. It would be interesting to see what variables between locations has cause/effect on the connection. I'll do some analysis when I have time, see if there is a time variable associated, like if it happens right away or takes time for the problem to occur. I have a feeling it's related to the cheap parts that Sony used, not sure what wifi chip is installed.
yeah I haven't had this issue yet either. Have an apple airport router. I have only had the phone a week but no problems.
OK it just now happened, (wifi won't connect) and I realized it was just connected when I was inside a building at school without cell reception. I put the phone into airplane mode, then turned on wifi, and sure enough the wifi connected. I'm thinking interference or lack of power is preventing wifi when a medium strength LTE signal is connected. I'll keep testing scenarios that fit this theory.
Just a quick update. It seems putting the phone in airplane mode, then manually turning on wifi only, the wifi connects immediately. Turn airplane mode off, wifi stays connected. No need to restart. Wifi drops on me several times a day and this is my fix. This fix did not work 1 time out of the past 20, and I had to restart.
Mine has been doing the same thing.... ugh Sony can't get their crap right no matter what they do. Dear God.
Anyone else having issues with auto brightness not working properly as well?

No problem here on the normal xa mine is a F3111 LTE model WiFi works and connects great on all Firmwares. Have you tried the software repair option via Xperia companion? If it's still the same after this, you need to take a log using the built in logging application and send the logs via Sony support forum it gives you instructions on how to do it in settings think one of the guys names is Richard, about phone, diagnostics, advanced logging they've actually been pretty good regarding any bugs and fix them once they have some logs to work from.

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. Unfortunately, the repair option didn't solve the issue. After Googling it, it appears many users with the 3213 model are having the same issues. Ugh.
I did not know about the "diagnostics" feature. I enabled it and then it auto uploaded and then turned off. So does support email you or Richard gentleman contact me via the phone somehow to give feedback?
Thanks!

As far as I know it's all done through a pm(message) through the Sony support forum. Then they pass it on to the software peep's and then wait for the fix it may take more than one person to provide the logs before they sanction the update unless they find a bigger problem.

Here's a funny thing, as long as I am not connected to Bluetooth, WiFi works flawlessly, weird.....
I'm just going to assume we have no fix for this yet? the whole resetting my phone is getting really tiring. blah I wish Sony would fix this or at least acknowledge it
I have the same problem with my XA. I've only had the phone a few days and I'm always having to switch it off and back on. SOOOOO annoying. The guy that sold it me said I could just return it. I'm not buying Sony ever again!!!!!
Been having to use my 4g at home alot of the time, which is eating up my data something rotten. It shows the WiFi is on and has full signal, but it's often so slow or even worse dead! I've honestly had 2g on a crap old phone work faster than WiFi at times. I have just "forgotten" all saved WiFi networks and signed into my home WiFi from scratch and put the password in again. Seems to have done the trick, but I'm not holding my breath that it's gonna last.
I'm curious, it might be insignificant, but just wondering what WiFi service providers all of us with problems have? I have BT infinity. For a while I thought that maybe it was just BT being rubbish. But my partner has a Samsung galaxy s8+ and she doesn't seem to have any issues. I've used the WiFi on my linx tablet, no issues. The Xbox one doesn't really lag either.
So it's either that this phone does not like BT or its just my phone being pants!!! Doing my head in, I have to keep getting my partner to send me extra data.
It's seriously getting on my nerves now

This is my first Sony Android phone, and I'm not touching one ever again.. What's worse for me is that mine is still on Sept 2016 update and my carrier locked the bootloader so I couldn't update it myself, as my network don't even care if I have the latest security updates or not
