Is it possible to unlock bootloader on a branded phone? (xperia play)
And if not, have any successfully overclocked a phone with locked bootloader?

Currently impossible.
Only Xperia's 2012 line are in this situation.
ANY OTHER PHONES! All have options to root even Motorola with permanently locked bootlaoder

I have an Xperia S, which was carrier locked on O2 , then i unlocked it, now i updated it to ICS via flashtool , but in system configuration, it says Bootloader Unlocking : No ", so do we have any chances to unlock BL even after getting ICS on our phone?

It should still be unlocked.
the unlockmethod do not chance with the Update - just unlock it like you unlock it befor

I want to put CM11 but I have to unlock bootloader first. Is there any possibility to unlock bootloader?

I had the same situation I went to the guy, he took off me simlock and unlock the bootloader unlocked this way :laugh:
Only removing SIM-lock is not enough.
Depending on when your phone is manufactured, it may be possible. Check the manufacturing date, it is under the battery. If it is before 12W11 (year 2012, week 11), then it is possible. Otherwise, no.
There is 11W36. Do you know some tutorial for unlock this "unlockable bootloader" ?

I have unlocked bootloader. After I upgrade to 4.4.4 by flashing a ftf file do my ZU is still unlocked? How do I check for unlock bootloader. Thanks for your answer!
Is that possible? I just recently unlocked the device from the carrier since it is out of contract now. The carrier that was lock is a little slow on updates but the unlock version is not. What's gonna happen if I flash the unlocked version on my device? Will it brick?
