Dear members of XDA I kindly ask for your help after hours of searching for a valid solution.
After running on my Tab 10.1 for 3 years it got slower and slower, and I decided to install Cyanogenmod today. The tab is successfully rooted. I got the cm-10.1-20130811-NIGHTLY-p4wifi and gapps-jb-20130301-signed and uploaded them to the internal SD storage. I tried to make a backup from ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.3.1 but it failed. I did a data&factory reset and installed CM and gapps.
The Samsung logo passes normally but the blue Cyanogen one lasts infinitely. Does anyone have a solution, or could anyone point me the mistake I probably omitted in the process? I should also add that I cannot enter the SD card from WIndows. If I missed a valid point, please point it out. Any help will be appreciated.
After 3 years of using it I do not want to throw it away yet, please help,
Thanks in advance,
Vecanoi

Download the latest cwm recovery from http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/ and flash it. Your problem is that your current recovery can't handle the file system changes in 4.2.2.

Thanks for the insight. I have updated the Recovery to v6.0.3.4. Wiped Delvik, Factory Data Reset and Cache Partition, then installed the zips again. Still nothing. Could the problem be in gapps or in cm-10.1? Is there a way to put newer zips somehow on the device, or am I stuck with the ones I uploaded before the first reset?
Thanks in advance,

Then try flashing back to stock ICS first then flash cwm, then cm10.1 and gapps. There is nothing wrong with the way you put into your tab. If its there, its there.

Sorry, can you tell me where to find Stock ICS in the Recovery Mod, if it is there? My backup failed as I said.

www.sammobile.com. You extract it, then flash the .tar.md5 file via Odin in download mode just like the recovery.

Thanks eushaun99, at least I'm back to normal ROM, but I'll try again, that's for sure.

Hey guys. I've been an Android & XDA user for a while now, so this question shouldn't be about a nooby-sitiuation.
My friend bought an AT&T Samsung Galaxy SII (SGH-i777) this week. I've been trying to flash CM7 ever since. I got the rooting done, the properly recovery (with no signature / "abort" problems)
The rom seems to keep bricking the phone. Its simply unflashable. I seen tons of people on XDA who got it to work, with barely any serious problems. I troubleshooted the problem myself, and its simply just the CM7 roms. I would do a full wipe, and then install the rom like I would on my other Android phones, and the installation is successful. When it boots, it gets stuck on the Galaxy SII boot screen (not the splash/boot animation screen) and it would stay on it with a yellow warning triangle on the bottom.
I tried flashing other roms, like Cognition X2, and they worked. Its just CM7 on this phone... which is odd because CM7 is usually stable (nightlies aside.) Especially since the 7.1 stable version was recently released. Anyone can help me get the rom up and going? Would be highly appreciated.
did you try to wipe dalvick cashe as well when you wiped data?
I just flashed it tonight myself and all I did was reboot into CWM and did a Wipe data/factory reset and then Wipe cache partition. After doing that, I simply flashed the cm7 zip file that was loaded on my internal sd. Rebooted and no problems.
I didn't have ANH ISSUES installing it but I know I read that some.people bad to flash it twice initially. So flash it, then when it goes back to the recovery screen flash it a second time. I also remember users on the international SGS2 bad to do the same thing. Most have no issues but I think they found that it depends on what you used to root your phone (on the SGS2 internationals) and I THINK some had to do the same here. Try it and if it works just hit the thanks button.

if you flash it and get stuck in a bootloop, just pull the battery, and 3-finger back into recovery to flash the rom again.
keep doing this until you get it up and running - took me a few times, including a couple of battery pulls.
How do you boot into recovery? I know On the SGH-i777 you have to hold the Vol down+back+power to get to the Download mode, but I tried everything to get to the recovery itself.

Yes. I've flashed many roms before, this seems to be the only one I had ever seen a problem with.

Word.
Edit: To boot into recovery vol up+vol down+power
Had the same problem. Read somewhere to install the ROM twice in a row in CWM without rebooting inbetween. Worked like a charm.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll try this in the morning once I get my hands on the phone again.
Saw this type of behaviour on occasion with cm7 on my aria. Sometimes caused by a bad download of the rom. Did you verify md5s ?

Don't forget to do a master data clear /reset before trying to boot the new CM7 rom for the first time - clear out the old stuff. Works perfectly here.

I'm having the same issue. I'm getting signature errors when trying to flashCM7.1 stable. I've downloaded it two times now with the same problem. My question is, I'm trying to flash from on the phone itself, storing the zip in the download dir on the phone as I don't have an sd card. Will this even work? I've tried looking around and all I can find is flashing from an sd card. I can get one, I just haven't yet.

Hmm, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong then. I did a factory reset, and wiped the cache and get the same thing. I know it wiped because now I have nothing setup on the phone when I boot normally. Suggestions?
Quit downloading the CM7 builds for the International Galaxy S II. They will NOT work. That is why it fails. Look for the Galaxys2ATT build.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
I got the build by going to the cm7 website, looking by device, finding the galaxy s 2 and grabbing the stable one. So perhaps that is the incorrect one and I'll look closer for one that has att in it, whenever the site isn't going up and down. They seem to be having issues today.
Make sure you're installing the version located in this thread...

Double flash made it work. Thanks guys. + thanks for telling me how to boot into recovery lol. Great rom.
Sorry for the newb issues, it was the wrong version. I got the att version from the thread previously mentioned and that worked perfectly. Thanks!
Hi,
my tab was running great since month with CM9. 2-3 updates a week did not created any problems at all. Everything worked great.
Until i downloaded the
cm-9-20120617-NIGHTLY-p4wifi.zip
update. After applying that update & gapps, wipe cache my tab got stuck at the CID bootanimation. I left there for almost 30 minutes. Nothing happened. I had the update cm-9-201206-NIGHTLY-p4wifi.zip & gapps flashed it in CWM wipe cache still stuck at the CWM bootanimation.
Then flashed it again, wipe cache, wipe data factory, wipe dalvik cache same problem.
My last option was installing a stock rom via odin. At first it rebooted at the samsung logo then i flashed it again and i got lot of red error messages on the tab screen. I barely get it into download mode at all.
Which rom should i flash ??? I think i need flash the bootloader. I dont want to try it again and mess the tablet up at all.
Please advise and safe my tablet.
Are you developing ROMs or Kernels..............................NO.
Which section is this?????...........................................Android Development!!!!!
SO why do you start a Question-Thread in Android Development??????
Com on give the man a break and this is not your task but the mod's.
And he is a litle pist because his tab went dead so he likes a answer for his problem, and then you can easy make this mistake to post it in the wrong section.
Your problem did try to flash the stock rom with odin.
Be kind receive kind.
Regards
Does the stock ROM boot normally?
If not try to get the .pit for your device and then restore the partitions.
When everything works you should be able to flash again as you like.
I personally would recommend you to stay with CM9 nevertheless, it's the most stable ICS ROM I could find.
And don't flash the bootloader... if you've never flashed it before then there's no need to do so now.
sorry i thought since CM9 is getting developed i should post it here.
I would like to stay with CM9 but i do not have the tar file to flash it with odin.
I cant flash the stock. See the screenshot above with the error messages.
Which pit file should i use to flash the stock rom.
Questions go in the Q&A section

I have a p4wifi that is stuck in a boot loop. I think the term is 'soft bricked'.
Basically, last night I turned my tab on for the first time in ages, and it all worked fine. I had rooted and flashed custom roms before (I'd been running a nightly of CyanogenMod for a long time, and it worked well), and I considered myself an expert. I updated loads of apps and stuff, and then realised I wanted a new font. I went into ROM manager and found the font I wanted, Ubuntu. It told me there was an update to ClockworkMod recovery so I wen ahead and updated it, checking the thing for Touch (I'd already bought it). That want ahead and it updated, throwing me back into the OS. I then went to get Ubuntu (I downloaded it within ROM manager), and didn't deem it necessary to create a backup, nor wipe anything. It processed it but returned an error, I though ok but never mind and I told it to reboot. Again that worked fine. I realised I was on a very old verson of CyanogenMod (probably ICS, it was around 201304). As I always do, I grabbed the latest version (again, in ROM manager), and elected to install it. I didn't wipe the delvik cache or whatever, and hit 'Reboot into recovery'. That was where the problem occurred. It wouldn't go any further than the 'Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1' boot screen (see attachment) into recovery. A similar thing happened before, but it just eventually went away after an hour or so. This has been running for a day, and there has been no progress. I've tried various key combos, like the normal way to get into recovery, but they won't work.
If I need I could find the instructions I followed, but it would be hard.
Is it completely broken? Can a save my data? Will I have to factory reset it? Will I keep my root/ClockworkMod? Will I keep my rom?
Thanks in advance to the person who can answer this
Do you have any ROM zips in your SD card? If you do, boot into recovery, full wipe and flash it. Piece of advice, don't use the recovery in ROM manager. Download pershoot's version of cwm instead in here. www.droidbasement.com

I have a few nandroid backups, if that counts? I do have a few ROM zips on my SD card too, though. Will a full wipe delete photos etc? I'm guessing it'll get rid of the apps, but that's no problem. But how would I get into recovery? I've already tried to get in with no success.

If you can find a way to get into recovery, then yes you can use your nandroid. You problem now is you can't get into recovery or download mode, right? Well can you try using adb? If you can then type adb reboot recovery in command prompt to reboot to recovery.
Oh yeah, full wipe won't delete photos etc unless you wipe your internal storage/SD card.

So you can get into download mode?
Download mode, yes. I've got it open now, in fact
Now that's easy. Your tab can't boot because it doesn't have any sort of recovery(don't ask me why I don't know ). Apparently ROM Manager wiped your recovery clean and didn't flash the new one. Just flash cwm or twrp via Odin and try to boot. If it still can't boot, then restore your nandroid. Ironically, the same thing happened to me yesterday when I tried to flash latest twrp using Mobile Odin.

I actually have no idea. I think I used a program similar to Odin that did the job. I remember booting into download more before. Oh yes, I flashed the disk image for the root and CWM using the default windows tool. Anyway, I've fixed it now. I couldn't find a .tar to do the job so I converted a random file to a .tar and flashed it that way, tricking it into thinking it had a recovery and therefore booting. In the OS I used ROM Manager to get CWM.

Hey there,
Today I received an MHL-adapter for my Galaxy S3 and wanted to try it out. Since it didn't work in combination with Slim Bean I decided to flash another rom (more on the sammy side of things). Coming across a thread with a guy pointing out a so called Chameleon crossover rom, I decided to give it a go, downloaded and flashed it. I shat bricks as I saw that, in my euphoria to try the adapter, I flashed a rom that was meant to be for the Galaxy S2!
So I restarted into recovery and tried to perform a full wipe, which didn't work, because it wasn't able to load the partitions (data etc.) then I tried to flash on a recent backup of Slim Bean, which was only partly succsessfull, meaning, that it flashed but couldn't wipe because of the reason mentioned above.
Booting into system doesn't work either, I just get a bootloop.
Right now im not quite sure, which step to take. Shall i flash on a clean stock-image via Odin or maybe try out something like One-Click UnBrick?
All your help and suggestions are highly appreciated!

Thank you so much for the quick response, I'm going to check whether it works and report back after it's done! :good:
G'Luck
Problem solved, thanks rootSU!
So, if someone is following this thread, I just want to share with you guys what I did and how it turned out:
I flashed the original firmware, according to region etc. via Odin, the procedure was succsessfull and I rebooted.
At first I had a bootloop, so I went into the stock recovery and hit "wipe /data and /cache", which was succsessfull as well, meaning that the previous problem with not being able to mount the partitions was resolved. So I went ahead and rebooted again aaand it booted!
Everything is working fine as far as i can tell, no misfunctions, hot reboots or anything similar.
Thanks very much for the quick response rootSU, which prevented me from hyperventilating .
I've rooted, unlocked bootloader and flashed stuff on my former phones (Htc Wildfire, Galaxy S) and I've never done anything like that before and nothing like that ever happened to me. So to anyone reading this, I highly encourage you not to be as dumb as me and to doublecheck what rom you're flashing and not to flash while being overly exicted about anything .
Does your adapter now work?
