CM 10.1.2 Windows USB issue. - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

I'm completely at a loss. I can't seem to find anything that could so much as point me in the right direction for getting this fixed, so here goes.
I put CM 10.1.2 on my 16GB tablet earlier, the installation went relatively smooth (I hope) for someone who knows nothing about Android anything.
Windows doesn't seem to recognize it all if the screen it black (alseep), I think it may be trying to charge over USB? Waking it to the lock screen, Windows will recognize it as a "Portable Media Player" granting me access to the 1GB internal memory (haven't bothered formatting it to give me all 11gigs yet) and my SD card, but I have no option to eject the device or the storage so I'm not particularly keen on accepting this situation.
When I'm in CWM recovery it behaves mostly normally, although I can't access the storage, both internal and SD are listed and I can choose to eject the nook from the device icon in the notification area.
Thanks for your time.
Edit:
Can be closed. Like I said, I know nothing about Android anything. Went to the storage options > three white squares, checked USB mass storage. Haven't tested it yet but I can't see it not working now.

[Q] 32 gb micro sd card help

I have recently purchased a 32gb micro sd card. When I go to put new music on it, it shows from the pc side that it is loading on the external drive(g2 phone) and form the phone it says that it is on there. However when I disconnect the phone only the last album that I put on there stays and the music player will state that "this type of file cannot be played". I have formatted the card through the computer and to no avail, it acts the same.. I did format it on the Android and it worked, temporarily and could load music from my computer for a few days, then it stopped. I am clueless as to what is going on with it. p.s. I tried placing it in a card reader and it did the same, but i did not format it first that time. I seem to think the android is placing a bad file on it causing all these issues. (again I say this because when I format it through the phone it will work temorarilly) any help would be great, I really want toload my phone with music.

Hi there,
It sounds like you might not actually be utilizing your SD card when connecting to a computer and instead are attempting to load your music directly to the internal phone memory.
Make sure after you connect your phone to your computer via USB that you put your phone in "Disk Drive" mode by dragging down your notification bar and selecting your connection type. Without selecting this option you will not have access to your SD card when plugging in your phone to a PC. Now when you got to "My Computer" on your PC you should see your SD Memory card in addition to "g2phone"
Let me know if you need further help
I'm relatively certain you bought a fake card. A few months ago I was shopping for one myself. I bought 3 different cards, all counterfeit, so I just threw down $100 to get my favorite brand, Lexar, and haven't had any problems since.
The exact problem you seem to be describing is a kind of technology that provides computers with a false amount of flash storage. When it is filled, and then used, only the true space of the card survives, which is why everything else disappears.
If you want to test the quality of the card for yourself, use h2testw 1.4. It is free, and while having a strange name, it is easy to use. You'll know in no time whether you've been scammed or not.
I have checked the card with h2test and it states that it does have 32 gigs on it but that the card is corrupt, I have formatted the quick way with sd formatter. What puzzles me is that at one time I was able to load more on it and now I cannot. I feel that there is a fix, I am just not finding it yet.

odd issue with sounds

I am running Task's AOKP Build 6.3.2012. I had this same issue on build 37 as well.
I've noticed that when I connect my phone to the computer and turn on usb storage, my notification sounds and ringtones "reset".
Example: I have my wife's ringtone set to Timmy (from South Park). After I connect the usb cable and turn on usb storage, her ring tone shows "unknown". Same with any of my alarms, default notifications and ringtones...I haven't always had this problem. For me, it started with build 37. I've been on a couple other releases of this rom before 37, but I can't remember which ones.
All of the sounds that I'm using are on my microSD, in the /media/audio/ directory. From there I have Alarms, Ringtones, and Notification directories. I've gone for a while without connecting the phone to my computer, and everything is fine, until I turn on usb storage.
I seem to remember reading a while back about emmc(internal storage) and sdcard (microSD) being reversed, but I can't seem to locate that thread again. The reason I mention it, when I'm using root explorer and open the emmc directory, I'm looking at my micosd card, and when I open sdcard, I'm looking at the internal phone memory.
If you've stored your RT's and notifications on your ext-sd it'll reset every time you unmount your ext-sd.
Moving them to internal memory usually solves the issue.
Cool thanks. Not sure why I didn't think of trying that, but I will when I get home.
After re-reading my post, I want to make it clear that I'm not blaming task or his rom at all. This is clearly something I have done incorrectly, just didn't know how to fix it (or I did, just didn't think before I typed )

USB Mass Storage Mode

Has anyone gotten this working on the S4 yet? I have root.
You mean the way it used to work and not the new multimedia device thing (MTP)? MTP mode works for me. Sometimes I have to hit the checkbox a couple of times, though.
I think the reference is to true UMS, which you can get via an app if rooted. The app works on some devices, but not all.
Are you talking about getting the phone to show up on a pc as mass storage, or getting the phone to recognize USB mass storage plugged into it through an adapter? Cause I tried the second one yesterday and it worked fine with no problems.
I don't think mass storage is the issue, but with my Note 2 setup in MTP mode I could browse the internal and external memory from my computer. When I plug my S4 in using MTP nothing pops up, but the installer for the Verizon software works.

MTP is working ok. Coming from 2.3 there are a lot of changes.
I am also missing Charge Only mode, I would assume because there is no data it would be able to charge the phone a little faster. Charging over USB pluged into a computer feels futile, if I'm using the phone it still is losing power, prob not as fast, but losing never the less.

Which app?
I'm having two issues with mine:
- It wants to default to something called "connected as installer". I can set it to MTP mode, but I have to manually set it EVERY SINGLE TIME I plug it in, and it resets to the "installer" mode after a few minutes.
- MTP mode is annoying. The device shows up as a "portable device" in Win 7, and it's several clicks to be able to get to the SD card like an USB drive, and then Windows wants to treat it differently than a standard removable storage device.
So, here's what I want to do: configure "normal" mass storage mode instead of MTP, and set this as the default, or, better yet, enable "charge only" when I plug it in to my PC.
Thoughts?

Forget it. USB mass storage is dead. Since Nexus devices do not have an external sdcard, there is no way to smoothly unmount it and mount it as mass storage. MTP allows the "internal" sdcard to remain mounted to Android and still be accessible to the PC.
Not saying MTP better...it tends to be slower and clumsier as noted above. It is what it is. I got to say its a lot better on the S4 than it is on the N7...its faster and mounts right up in Windows 7.

MTP and Windows 10

I just finished the install and signing in for AOSP Android "N". Thanks @mikeataol and @digixmax and, of course @amaces for this wonderfully bare-bones ROM! Too soon to tell much, but it looks good so far and installation went smoothly using the zipped TWRP recovery.
But...no MTP with my Windows 10 machine. Apparently you can't enable USB debugging AND have the MTP selection stick. I finally figured that out. I'd use MTP far more so that setting makes more sense as a default. I have no problems with a Windows 7 machine which recognized the tablet right away. No dice with Windows 10. I asked it to update the driver and it said there was an issue with the some specification in the INF for the driver. Well thanks, that's so helpful. I can't see the tablet under ANY settings with Win 1, or, more precisely, I can't see any files. It does know there is a Nook Tablet connected when in USB debugging mode as that shows in the "eject safely" area.
I know this is a headache issue with these tablets and PCs. I've been looking around but most info seems to be for pre-Win 10.
Any suggestions?
Afterthought: Win 10 does correctly identify the tablet as an Android Bridge Device when USB debugging is enabled, but that doesn't left you conveniently drag files back and forth from the SD card, for example.
When you connect the NT to your PC, do you get any notification icon (at top left or top right)?
In the newer Android and CM versions, MTP mounting is no longer automatic. On my HD+ running LN14.1 the battery power indicator icon on the top right would change and if pulled down would expand into a menu giving me the choices of a) charging device (default), b) transfer files (MTP), c) transfer photo (PTP). Same behavior but slightly different menu on my Samsung G900A phone running Android 6.0.1.

I have had more time to observe this and it just gets more complex. But as soon as I saw your question I realized there was something I had never seen. I had seen the indicator on the top left that said USB debugging was enabled, tap, blah-blah. That always led me to the Settings which seemed to interfere with each other. I would see the MTP device in Windows Explorer but there were no files and no SD card.
When I found the little menu you mentioned I chose the fire transfer option (it started as "charging"). Voila, the entire tablet shows up now, SD card and all on Windows 10.
Now to disconnect......and reconnect.....OK, so it went back to "charging" and when I selected "transfer files" it all showed up again.
Now if I enable USB debugging....I can still see everything. Now disconnect...and reconnect...I'm back to the MTP device with no files, and yes, there is the additional menu option I had not noticed before.
Thank you!!
Still a lot to do......

Can't get info off Alcatel Streak w/SD formatted as internal storage

Okay, urgency low, but curiosity high. I have an Alcatel Streak - please don't laugh, it was free - and I decided to try formatting the SD card as internal storage. Kind of an experiment to see how it would work. Played with it for a few months then left the country for a year & a half. Getting ready to return, so got out my Streak (which is still locked to Cricket, cheap & fast & easy) and ran into a memory problem. I should mention that it always seemed to have a problem shutting off. You could shut it off but come back a few days later and discover it was back on and your battery was almost dead. Probably not related but who knows.
Anyway, so it said it couldn't update because my memory was full. It took me to the app page. Oh well, so I uninstalled about 1.8 Gigs of apps, but the available storage never increased and the message kept coming on. Okay, so maybe a fresh start. I'll just take off all my stuff (not much) off and transfer it to my hard drive. I plugged it in but it never showed up in explorer. Not in Windows or Linux. Tried updating drivers, etc, but no luck. No problem, I'll just take the SD card out & plug it into my PC directly. But neither Windows nor Linux could see anything on the card, a result of formating it for internal storage from what I've read. Hmmm, okay, I'll use Bluetooth. Great, connected to one of my other phones no problem. Sent files and ... nothing. Couldn't send or receive anything via Bluetooth. Okay, try it with the computer. Still no luck, Windows or Linux. Okay let's try this WiFi Direct thing .... yeah you guessed it, nothing. Alright, I know, I'll share them to Google Drive! Ha! But the joke was on me. After only a few hundred megabytes transfered, an error. Phone storage is full, please clear out some space. Now Settings won't do anything but take me to that message. So... we need phone storage just to upload to Google Drive? Okay, maybe it stores everything in a temp folder first. A temp folder smartly located only in system storage which cannot be moved to SD or internal storage.
So, any ideas as to how to get any info off that phone? Nothing major so if it can't be done I'll live, but I'm very curious as to why nothing wants to come off that phone. Weird. I am out of ideas here.... Thanks for reading and any help you can provide.
PS. To clarify, on plugging it into the computer, usually my phones display a message, I can tap the notification and choose charging, transfer files, sync pictures, internet access, whatever. But that option never appears on the Alcatel Streak phone, it just charges. The cable and USB ports work fine as all other phones show up. If there are any other things I need to clarify, please just let me know, thanks!!
