So evidently I'm out of the loop. I didn't know until a few minutes ago that the Google Play Edition HTC One had intergrated Beats Audio. But when I heard this, I got an idea.
Could we port the Beats drivers to CM10.1/10.2 and all the ROMs based on it (Rootbox, Carbon, ect)? Wouldn't it, in theory, be possible since the GPE One firmware is essentially AOSP and therefore with the same structure and internal-working as AOSP? I understand that people have a love/hate relationship with Beats, but I personally (and I'm sure many others) like the sound of it, and that sound on an AOSP/CM10.2 based ROM would be awesome.
Thanks in advance for your responcess, input, and opinions.

Yeah it could work. Its just a global audio out enhancement that drives all levels a bit higher. Doubtful though that it will get added to an AOSP ROM besides the GPE port. Its just speculation based on how new features are added.

The GPE rom isn't just straight up AOSP, but a combination of sense framework and AOSP android. This is the reason that Beats works just like on a Sense 4.1 rom. I'm not sure if it could ever be ported to CM to be honest. It may rely on some of the Sense framework that's specific to GPE.

I'll have to correct you there. I did a little more searching, and found someone in the Wildfire S forums who had ported Beats from the GPE One to his unofficial CM10.1 ROM for the WFS. I asked him how he did so, and he said that you replace and add a couple files, and you can get it up and running.

Can you link me to that thread? I'd like to take a look!
But I also think that we still need to get our audio issues figured out 100% on CM10.1 & 2 for the DNA before we think about adding beats eqs into the mix. To my knowledge we still don't have the amps working correctly on CM.

Yea sure, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283549 . And I thought the audio issues were only with the external speakers? If it's possible to pull Beats from GPE, which I'm told is Sense based, would we be able to use the Sense 4.2.2 ROMs for trying to fix the AOSP audio issues?

Why not try Clean Rom for a clean rom?
I just flash the Android Revolution HD 1.2 ROM last weekend and it works great!! It's just like stock with a few tweaks... like removed some bloat, has the GPU manage display graphics instead of CPU which frees up some CPU power and makes Sense have a lot more fluidity! Plus it gives you the ability to overclock the CPU to 1.5 GHZ and it is completely stable! It has more small tweak so head over to the thread and check it out! i highly recommend this ROM!

Hope this helps!!
I've been bouncing around between MeanROM, ViperRom, and Nocturnal. All are good roms, but Mean is the only one that allows Beats removal, so that is the one I am sticking with for now (Beats causes a loud hiss in my headphones that completely eliminates the reason to have Beats). Also, Mikey (the creator of Mean) is very active with updates.

Interesting idea for a port! I'm intrigued.
Strange, this looks very similar to TouchWiz... My girlfriend has an LG myTouch Q, and I swear they ripped off all sorts of elements from older versions of Sense on that phone (like Sense status bar, icons, menu styles, etc, just minus the Sense widgets and homescreen). Does LG license parts of TouchWiz or Sense to use on their own phones?
Looks good so far!

shhh.... the most up-to-date is cm10 and its damn near perfect. there is cm10, codefirex, aokp, paranoid, and codename. komodo is a great aosp kernel to run with cm10. jelly bean is just ics with a lot of improvements. if you like ics, youll love jelly bean. i think hes saying he likes htc's sense more than just aosp, which is completely different than liking ics over jelly bean. :good:

Near being the key word.
Camera is not fully functional and is near useless for video recording. GPS does not work, random freezes, random app crashes, etc.
Still a WiP though and is getting there.

Okay. Here's the deal. Haven't found a thread on here exactly like this, either because I'm not phrasing the question properly, the answer is obvious and I'm just stupid, or no one really gives a crap.
I don't really have a fancy setup; you could call me a bit of an ex-audiophile. I love my music to really be vibrant; clear yet powerful. Say what you will about it, I get that from the Beats Audio feature on Sense roms with this phone. It's the primary reason I didn't go with the Galaxy S3 when I had the chance to switch for free; it's just that good to me. Problem is, Sense. I hate Sense with a passion. There's this slightly lag with typing I can't get over, and when I compare it to AOSP 4.2.x ROMs I'm left wondering "why?" about a lot of things that are just better, easier, smoother and cleaner on the stock Android OS that HTC just seemed to screw up, the notification bar/pulldown being the primary one. Seeing HTC stick to this same old story kind of appeal to that just ruined the experience for me, and the launcher is terrible. Yes, I know, Nova Launcher/etc, but it's just not the same. Some of the GAPPS just lose their appeal to.
But, I digress. On to the meat of the issue. I've tried AC!D, I've tried AwesomeBEATS, I've tried the ClearAudio, you name it, I've tried it. There's an Xperiance AOSP ROM out there that's based on CM10, and it seems like everything I'm looking for, except the goddamn audio features don't work. At all. And when I listen to music it skips. So here's my question. Has ANYONE been able to reproduce the exact audio quality and frankly sheer volume and power that this phone is capable of with ANYTHING while using a 4.2.x AOSP based ROM? Hell, I'm even willing to go back to 4.1.x, though I'd rather not. I'm in love with the new stock toggles/icons in the notification bar. So yeah...help please?
tl;dr version: Beats on Sense is awesome, AOSP ROMs lack the music quality I'm looking for. How2fix?
This rom has the best audio that I've heard on AOSP. In the thread are also links for the mods that the dev used in this rom. Good luck with your search!

Yeah, this the ROM I was talking about in the OP, I can never get the audio options to actually work. I'll adjust sliders etc and it doesnt change a thing.
Oh really? Well I have noticed that the slider for ClearAudio+ in the first pic doesn't seem to do much, but when you turn it off, you do hear a difference.

However, when it comes to BeatsDSP, I certainly beg to differ. ClearAudio+ definitely cleans up the extra bass that DSP provides.

Why don't you try one of the stripped Sense ROMs, i'm currently running SuperJelly bareback M3. It's a Sense ROM w/o Sense, has Beats and alot of other features. You can also try Viper which has an option in Aroma to remove Sense during installation. I installed Acid Audio on top of it and can run it with Beats at the same time and it's pretty sweet.

In the first post are the links for the mods. Some mods make rom loop, and I haven't found the patience to test each one separately as yet. But from what I have observed, the ClearAudio+ seems to be the biggest culprit.
One of these good days, I'll get around to it.

Yes! at last! Viper's sound mods work great on aokp (I'm on 4.3 atm and it seems the same on 4.2). Fixes the difficulties with Groove IP and the equalizer works, too. It's got that great sound you get with htc s*nse.

Gee, I have customized my phone so much that I'm not actually sure what I would wish for in a Rom. Between Xposed, various programs, Tasker, and judicious freezing of apps my phone is fairly close to the way I want it.

That all said, this was still great news for the G3 community.
