I like it.
Any chance of being able to switch to fahrenheit rather than metric?

It says the fahrenheit below the larger celcius. It would nice to switch f to the larger display, however.
Really liking the beginning of this app though. We basically have a personal weather station in our hands, great to see someone developing a accurate app.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
yes, somehow. because the temperature sensor is just next to the large physical home button. so it affect little by the hand temperature as well as little on battery heat temperature. battery heat mostly blocked by the plastic seperator between sensor and battery. but if you play games or work on GPU then it increase the temperature in all parts in smartphone and it affect the sensor alot.
For running a weather station app or accurate temperature, you need to close all apps and put phone in table for 5 mins for better accurate reading.

v1.3 update for verizon, at&T , T-mobile versions
splash screen implemented for my sponsers
changed y-axis font size
few optimizations implemented
changed font sizes for C & F
New version looks good. Dewpoint is only in Celsius though, maybe you could add Fahrenheit as well? I like having both C/F temps displayed.
Looks nice, but for some reason temperature seems high about +10 f... Maybe my case? Neo hybrid...

There is no changes in source code on that reading area. I worked only on ui and other minor fixes. So the problem may be any other thing.
I also working on calibration settings. Once you calibrate readings it shows the adjusted value always for most accurate readings.

in short i forgot my s3 in the car and it was damn hot...i came back to find it over heating and in boot loop.after it cooled down it was back to normal except now i have heat problem when i use the net or play a game...the question is was its exposure to over heat the cause of ruining something?

It definitely will get hot, I remember watching my son at swimming lessons last week.
I am in Bangkok and was outside using the phone extensively on 3G data, ambient temp 35+ Celsius. Can't remember exactly how hot the battery got, but sure out read well into the 40s.
Didn't have any hardware or software issues though.
As far as exchange goes, you could try, but they may reject the claim as you most likely were operating the device outside it's design limits.
From the Pg 172 of the GT-I9300 User Manual: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201206/20120613110217963/GT-I9300_UM_EU_Icecream_Eng_Rev.1.0_120607_Screen.pdf
Do not store your device in very hot or very cold areas. Use your
device at temperatures from -20 °C to 50 °C
• Your device can explode if left inside a closed vehicle, as the internal
temperature can reach up to 80 °C.
• Do not expose your device to direct sunlight for extended periods of time
(on the dashboard of a car, for example).
• Store the battery at temperatures from 0 °C to 40 °C.

All hardware is not exactly the same, so your device may be less torelant to excessive heat than others or vice versa.

Based on what you said, all seems back to normal.
To summarise;
It WILL heat up, depending on environmental conditions and also your using habits. CPU and GPU intensive apps and time spent on this state, and also general use whilst charging etc will heat it up.

+1 to the "It's fine"
Pull out the battery, there it'll list a safe operating temperature. The battery in my phone is "Safe" up to 60c, but it probably shuts itself off at around 55ish. 45 is nothing to a phone, so don't worry.
You're probably just being paranoid, paying super close attention to any kind of "Warm" after the overheating incident. It was probably reaching those same temps prior to leaving it in the car.
Hell, I left my Evo 3D (Super famous for overheating) on my black leather seats, in the summer, plugged in, and GPS running, for an hour or so. It shut itself off and wouldn't turn on for 45ish mins while I let it cool down... And it's running just fine now. Lol
So as many of you know, or will find out, the S3 gets a bit warm, almost hot at times around the bottom third of the phone. I am waiting for the Otterbox Defender and I was wondering if it is advisable not to use it. Granted I know these things can handle high temps, would leaving the phone in a thick case with no heat dissipation and high temps create another blown phone (the phone that caught on fire)?
Let me know guys, really need a case on this, but not sure how the high temps will fare with the Defender. Thanks
I've been looking at the defender myself, my plan is to monitor temps for a while. If it runs hot I'll dremel out the lower section of the case over the CPU for heat dissipation. With the layers it should still be strong enough to protect the phone just fine with a portion missing.

I see mine average between 90° to 100°. Also, judging from SetCPU, Samsung set a minimum clockspeed of 1024 Mhz, presumably for speed. You could try setting the minimum speed lower and see if that helps.
Noticed mine getting hot as well.
mine gets warm too.. especially when charging

3 hours of on screen is why your battery drained. Doubtful it's removing system apps.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
I've seen really varied battery life. The screen is the number one battery drain on our phones so I use my brightness as low as I can get away with. Monitor your battery life day to day and see if screen percent battery usage even when used for 3-5 hours should start to show closer to show 20-30% of your battery usage vs the likely 50% or higher you may be seeing now. I use a third party app to lower brightness even below our normal GS3 brightness when I know I'll be surfing or using the phone an extended period of time.
Common battery conservation knowledge consists of simple things like disabling GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth when possible. Limit or turn off sync when uneeded. Turn off led lit touch buttons if you get used to menu and back where they are. Turn off sprint network optimizer (sprint only) it seems to scan networks too often leading to too much battery discharge for me. Turn location services off if not used often certain ones not GPS effect battery too. Uninstall bloat which you did. Turn options in apps off not to sink.
Check battery usage during screen off and idle and make sure your phone is sleeping. If you have a sleep bug the phone is not shutting down cores and lowering speed while not used leading to multiple hours of battery life lost. I turn off vibrate and haptic feedback off except where I can. If your rooted take control of your cpu and when not needed clock it down yourself. If your browsing you may not need max frequency. 1ghz core or less is good to save power while just casually using the phone.
Just a rant on what I've had success with. No pic but I have had success getting 24 hours between charge with heavy use like 6+ hours screen on if I was really conservative. Most days of heavy use as long as I didn't use a giant overclock I get 9-10 hours between charge.

My favorite brightness widget for quick access and free on play store.
https:// play.google. com/store/apps/details?id=com.haxor
The great widget that's free on play store to adjust your brightness lower than current device brightness in a percent form. it can go 0-100% below your lowest brightness level or even below your highest brightness level if you prefer... as its based on your current set device brightness and is accomplished by using a screen overlay I believe. Adds a little lag when enabled but saves you the power when needed.

Okay thank you kindly. I know much less than anyone here. I am new to this world and new to Android.
Those apps are not new brightness control as you have stated. ofirst one is a simple widget to change brightness from home screen so its just a shortcut. The second a screen overlay that doesn't get in the way of using apps and darkens the screen beyond minimum brightness that SG3 or any phone has. If a user does not need lower screen brightness than normal than the above apps are not going to be useful. Thank you for fixing links. I hope I can add to threads and around.
Like you I would love to see an app that creates a custom auto brIghtness function.

Thanks this looks great. that's what I was looking for in first place. Ill give it a try. That's definitely better yet.
A guy commented on app there and said useful info as follows which Ill try out myself just thought it was also interesting.
"On "automatic dynamic" mode- behaves buggy & erratic. USE: "automatic periodic" with updating at 5 sec intervals. Now works well. Set backlight zero to 10. Sample lux/% settings: 10/-55%, 100/10%, 500/35%, max/100%. Try it. Be nice if widget also showed Auto & %." -Heath
Edit: After trying the above app it easily replaces both apps I posted. Thanks jmorton10 for posting this great app.
Edit: After using all the apps. I found Lux can create lag in the touch interface and browsing etc just like the app"Screen Filter" I posted. On screen filter it causes lag when enabled and for some reason Lux also does this to my phone. Once I disabled and restarted the lag was gone again. I don't have to restart phone for Screen Filter just turning it off with a single button press fixes it. Lux has more features and actually makes a custom auto brightness profile. The free version is fairly limited but has enough to still make a fair brightness profile. Given the lag which is likely on just a few handsets is something most of us saving battery can deal with. Between all the apps I guess it depends on what you need. Lux is a top notch software but the free version is fairly limited vs the free brightness widget and screen filter but has no auto-brightness customization. The lag on Lux was not right away and was exactly like the lag in screen filter app so both must have issue in way the below normal brightness is overlayed over the screen. The paid version is likely very in depth.
Thanks for the app suggestion again.
Thanks for the input. I bought the onite 3800 mah extended battery, but im changing it for the qcell, or hyperion.

As the title suggests, I'm wondering where the ambient temperature sensor is located on the device. I've read conflicting things, so I'm not sure if there is actually a dedicated 'ambient' temperature sensor or if the reading is the result of some calculation. Either way, it doesn't seem to be wholly accurate.
Also, what apps are you using to see the ambient temp sensor's reading? I'd like to hear about an app that has a clean-looking, low memory widget I could use to get a quick glance at ambient temp, pressure, and humidity. Currently using 'Temperature', which has a barebones widget that only displays the temp.
Thanks in advance.
Dont know where the sensor is. Search ambient temperature in the app store. I will say its not very accurate tho because any heat generated by the device causes it to read higher. The application lists everything you want but the widget just shows the temp.

That's actually the app I got. Kinda weird, it's title changed to just 'Temperature' once installed (it's the one with the C° icon).
I'm much more curious about the humidity sensor. It would be neat to be able to leave my phone in a guitar case for a couple minutes and view a graph of the average humidity in there and A / B that with the room the case is in, since humidity will affect the wood! :fingers-crossed:
Refer to the title , is xperia z ultra is a good phone or should i go for another phone...???
I own it, so it's hard to be objective, so:
The Ultra is an absolutely fantastic device, and i love it. The only thing you should ask yourself is: "Do i want or need a big device?". The size is the only detail that you should be 100% sure of. The screen is fantastic, battery is very good, performance is as you should expect - top notch. Build quality is A+. It's the perfect device for nerds, but this is not the device for most people. It's a niche device that's doing everything right.
Check it out in a store if you have the chance, and if its size doesn't scare you; get it.
Well...LordManhattan said it all. One more thing I can add to this is:
Do you love when people stare at you and perhaps comes up to you and start talking? Because they will! ..this phone is like a big fat magnet

Yeah like Lord says.
-I get pretty good battery life. I use my device constantly. 10 hours with massive usage.
I did a test and got just on 6 hours with a 6Gb, 1080p movie loop. (brightness at max. all hardware on)
-flash isn't a major factor. Looking back to my Galaxy S4, I only took 6-10 images with my S4 at night, and ended up deleting those images as they were pretty average. So I have yet to see a smartphone take good night images.
I thought the lack of a flash would be a killer for me... but actually I don't miss it.
** On another note... make sure that you don't get 'soap' or 'salt' on your speaker or mic. It will eat away that semi-permeable membrane, allowing water to get in, which will then wreck your device. **

These are the only Mhz values I have achieved. Now I do think its important to utalise that 2.2ghz processor, however it uses this value the most. 30% of the time I'm using 2150 mhz (obviously unless its asleep) This will be a major factor of battery drain. Now unless someone can create a custom kernel that will address this, we wont see any better battery life improvement in ROM's, and this may be at the expense of the smoothness of this device... tough call!

Yeah under 2 hours charges it. (AC)
Takes about 4/5 hours with USB... but we all know why.
Yes I did use setCPU, and betterbattery stats to monitor any wakelocks. No wakelocks, runs well. And setCPU does enable a lower peak frequency. However it also creates a bit of lag, so there's that.
2200 mhz isn't achievable. (without overclock) Would have been cool if Sony went for the 2.3Ghz/ more expensive processor... but 100mhz isn't a big deal i guess

If you use SystemTuner Pro mate check the cpu of each core... Or use perfmon free. You will see that while it may be running at 2150 its probably only using 1 core of the 4 available most of the time. I'm guessing this is more power efficient when running a single core at a higher clock speed than firing up multiple cores.
It also seems to be using some form of touch boost, so just touching the screen will automatically make it boost cpu and gpu frequency. Honestly most of the time mine seems to be siping along on a single core about 300-600mhz

Here's my take on the phone. Overall I'll give it a 6/10. The screen does not keep up to the hype. It has a very clear yellow tint. I'm in fact using a filter to adjust the white balance.
Next, the in ear speaker is average. Has a hollow sound.
The speaker at the bottom is a absolutely terrible. Almost unusable.
