Hello, today I finally rooted my sgh-t989d samsung galaxy and I was trying to install new themes. I found the theme Blue Fire, so I downloaded it and it's a .apk file. But I was just wondering, how do I get the .apk file on to my phone? I've tried searching it, and I usually get a download that shows a command prompt, but it never actually gets the .apk onto my phone. Any help please?
You can install the apk file using adb install (adb is included in the android sdk, usb debugging have to be enabled on the phone) or you just copy the file to the device and install it using any file manager (e.g. root browser).
Maybe you have to enable the installation of apk files from unknown sources in the settings.

Watch my ATRIX Rooting video but instead of doing the root process, only try the enable non-market apps button. I'm not sure if you can do this though. Rooting is easily reversible. You should just root anyhow IMO.
Have you tried the Sideloader Wonder Machine yet?
You can you the android SDK and ADB to install it. Just install the SDK, put the app in the tools folder, open a command line, navigate to the tools folder, and type "adb install XXX.apk" where XXX is the name of the file

Download the "Sideload Wonder Machine". It will allow you to sideload without rooting.
I believe that droid explorer would be the easiest way? Correct me if I'm wrong. Not sure if it works with this phone though??
Hey guys,
After almost three hours of googling and frustration, I cannot find an answer to my question.
I have a Galaxy S 4G, rooted using Superoneclick (confirmed by having wireless tether and superuser)
I installed Rom Manager, got the clockworkflash version for my phone, and started a reboot into recovery mode.
...
when I got to recovery mode, I see a little android and a exclamation mark. There was an error with installation saying something like "signature not verified"
All I want to do is replace the dialer graphics for my phone.
And that requires some flashing.
I tried an alternate method where I used Root Explorer, trying to replace the old dialer file with a new one. However, I am unable to modify the permissions in the system folder. Whenever I change the permission, it reverts back to the regular settings. I cannot rewrite any file in the system folder.
So how do I get recovery mode to work on my phone,
and how do I modify system file permissions to make them re-writable?
Hi,
I am trying to install the Camera mod, but if i install in CWM it says it is done but does not change anything. nor if i use root explorer and extract the app and use package installer. anybody have ideas.
Using a Blu life x2 rooted TWRP and using a custom rom called Drax from blox2.
Having a heck of a time getting access to the root system directory. I can browse it just fine via Root Explorer app. I can see all the notification sounds and ringtones that are default. (im ultimately trying to put some new notifications/ringtones directly on the internal storage vs installing something like zedge to manage ringtones (and trying to learn as i go).
Using ADB and fastboot im able to copy files. at least i thought. Booted into TWRP, i can see my device via "adb devices" I try to copy the first time and it fails as it doesnt see the directly (which is odd to me because its clearly there, i can navigated it when booted into android and browsing via Root Explorer. I then see that adb created a directly, i try again and it says it copied. As you can see on the screen shot.
since i cant submit a link yet.... drive.google.com/open?id=0B1halGed5ltCMVY0VzduRk5kTHM
So i think im golden, i go into Android try to change the notification and .. bubkiss. Nothing. I then try to see the file in android via root explorer and its not there.
I think i have a permissions issue as i've tried copying files directly in android using Root Explorer and I get operation failed or permissions complaints.
Any insights on this?

i push the apk file to the system directory of the device (because "Casio Watchfaces seems to work only if they are placed in /system/priv-app.So try pushing it to /system/priv-app via TWRP or any Root Explorer") but idk how install a apk. file from device directory. via adb
