I use Nova Launcher as my launcher and recently tried using widget locker in place of the sony lockscreen. However, one issue I ran into is that I am unable to change the lockscreen wallpaper.
Anyone else using the app having similar issues?
Thanks in advance:good:

I am facing the same problem even with stock launcher. Older version of WidgetLocker, namely 2.3.2r1, works fine on my Sony Tablet Z SGP-321 on Android 4.4. But all the new versions do not set lockscreen wallpaper. When I click "Look & Feel", "Select Wallpaper", choose the wallpaper I want, but then nothing happens, and the screen returns to WidgetLocker settings without having changed the lockscreen wallpaper. I do not understand what the issue is. If some one could advise, that would be nice!

I tried all that (deleting data and cache and even factory reset) and it wouldn't work, drove me crazy.
Am on a SM-T525 and without widget locker I had two different wallpapers for home and lock screen, while widget locker always took the set system home wallpaper, totally ignoring the alternate wallpaper flag.
I used root explorer and manually put my lock screen wallpaper in data\data\com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker\files\wallpaper.png and now it works.
Make sure it has the right dimensions (in my case 2500x1600) and the naming is right (so wallpaper.png and not Wallpaper.png).
Can't believe this is the only way to do this actually but am happy for now.
Good luck!

Thanks a lot! At least some sort of solution!!!
Some time after...
Tried this trick with wallpaper.png substitution - doesn't work for me. And once again, strangely enough, WidgetLocker v. 2.3.2r1 DOES work, but sometimes behaves weirdly on KitKat.

Mmm... Did you delete all cache? Also resetting other apps that might still have settings towards the wallpaper (like other launchers) to default?
And then disable and re-enable widgetlocker must work. I am on 4.4.2 myself with latest Widgetlocker

How exactly should I clear cache and/or data? For WidgetLocket I can clear cache and data.Should I clear both?
As for launcher I am using Nova Launcher. There I can clear cache, data and defaults. I assume if I clear data I will loose all the setting, i.e. screens layout, and I don't want to do that.
Here are the steps I take:
1. Turn off WL
2. Clear its cache AND data
3. Put wallpaper.png into the folder you told me
4. Launch WL (I see my current homescreen wallpaper and NOT the wallpaper.png)
5. Check "Alternative Wallpaper" (without actually clicking "Select Wallpaper")
6. Click home to return to homescreen.
7. Turn off screen.
When I wake the tablet up I still see my homescreen wallpaper and not the wallpaper.png.
Maybe I am doing something in a wrong sequence?
Another guess is the difference between your Sams GT and my Sony Tablet Z.

Hey
Am sorry it's such a drag, I felt very frustrated too (and still am, as it should work just all out of the box).
I would clear cache and data and then copy the file first, make sure it's correct and it's there and then disable and re-enable WL, as it reads that .png when it's re-activated.
Can I ask you, when you disable WL do you have a different lock and home screen? So via system settings just setting 2 different wallpapers for home and lock screen, are they different then?
Also, is your .png file ok, what I mean is does it show in Gallery if you select it? Sorry if I'm stating out the obvious
Personally I cleared cache via Application Manager and that should be enough, and yes, I also cleared WL data and had to reorganize all.
I don't know if op found the solution, but an older version of wl (2.3) worked for my Galaxy tab 2.

Yes. If I disable WL, I can set different wallpapers for lockscreen and home screen via system settings. The problem is that if you do it via system the wallpaper for lockscreen needs to be of very weird resolution as Google wants to use it both for landscape and portrait mode, while I just want it to be of 1920x1200 for landscape.

Well, it doesn't open from data\data\com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker\files. But if I copy the file from there to my SD card - it shows in gallery as proper image.
In conclusion, I still don't manage to get WL to pick up wallpaper.png from data\data\com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker\files.
I've now updated to Android 4.4.4 and did factory reset. Damn thing still not setting alternative wp! ((

If you need, and have root: go to /data/data/com.sonyericsson.lockscreen.uxpnxt/ and delete the wallpaper.png file.

Solved The Same problem
I had the same problem of changing to default lock screen and i did a Settings Reset which solved it.
Goto Settings > Privacy > Settings Reset. After that the phone reboots and the only thing to bother is to correct the time.

just in case you have done a backup before you can try this:
go in recovery mode, backup and restore/advanced restore/choose the backup/restore system..... that should fix
otherways if you don't have a backup done you can load the same deodex rom on your external/sd and then go on recovery.....
hope this will help you

not to necro, but heres an easy fix
The problem was bad (or improperly upgraded?) saved data in the launcher app. Here's how I fixed it.
At the dialog above, press "Report"
When in the report screen, drag down the notification bar at the top of the screen.
Press the settings button in the upper left of the notifications area.
Tap "Apps", then "All", then Apex find Launcher in the list. Tap Apex Launcher.
Tap "Clear Data".
You lose your home screen customizations, but at least the phone now works again.
you can also just choose to uninstall it

Same here, after the update today (09/24) Apex launcher froze. Since I had another launcher no issue with phone's operation.
Is clearing the data only option? or is there any issue with the latest update?

Apex Launcher is back, dev has done a great job in bring it back in a day!! Go ahead and grab the latest version and enjoy the launcher.
I installed Nova launcher to get my phone working. And to be honest, I think I stick with it for a while. Multi select app to put them on a page or create a map is very easy.
Maybe it is also possible with Apex, but it have not found it.
Hi all,
I've been having this problem since yesterday. My notifcation bar has vanished, apart from on my lockscreen and when I have exDialer running. I have done a cache wipe, dalvik wipe, fixed permissions, and reinstalled my ROM (Paranoid Android). I dont really want to do a full wipe as I'd lose all my apps. Is there any other way, or is the only option to do a clean install?
Thanks

I wish it were that simple. I'm using nova, and have already checked for that. Deselected, selected, you name it. Doesnt work.
its still functioning btw. On my lockscreen I see it, and as I enter my home screen, it rolls up. Same thing, on exDialer its there, but when i switch to home, it rolls up again. Uninstalled the launcher, using another launcher etc, does nothing.
Try to hold the option button for a few seconds when you are on your homescreen.
It's a option in nova to hide the notification bar.

This is on Viper 3.0.1. No mods installed other than what is in the Viper Customizer app. I was installing apps after (finally) getting my 3g data working, went back to the home screen, no icons. I have just tried fixing permissions, clearing caches, and wiping data for Sense. I'm unsure what the Sense UI actually shows up as under Apps or Titanium Backup so I wiped data on pretty much everything that said 'Sense'. No go :/
try reflashing the rom without wiping anything(dirty flash) if that doesnt work then rewipe stsyem and reflash rom
They might still have ICS icons in their hub, that can f*ck up a lot of ish...

hi! I come from a nexus 4 and I don't quiet like the Sony lock screen.. is there a way of changing it with a stock android one?
I kinda second this.
While there are numerous apps that act as lockscreen replacements, none of them actually do the job well. The one that comes closest to pure AOSP is Holo Locker (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobint.locker), but it's closer to ICS than it is to KitKat.
'Tis a shame since Sony's UI can actually be made to resemble AOSP, except for the single most seen screen on the phone -- the lockscreen (even the wallpaper can only be a static image ffs).

If you are on rooted your device then just delete the lockscreen apk and odex file from /system/app folder. now you are on stock lock screen.
I was looking for a way without using root.. I prefer wait for a root that doesn't lose DRM Keys..

I do prefer having a swipe lockscreen of some sort to place a widget (such as CLock) to be able to see things with a single push of a button, without really unlocking. Sony's way of doing lockscreens is just absurd, especially the way you can't set the background to match your homescreen. And those sparkles, ugh, don't even get me started.
Xperia Xposed let my live wallpaper show on lock screen
Tried many Xposed Xperia modules, all of them got me a bootloop.

I swear there is no XperiaLockScreen in there. And no, I didn't delete it, else I'd leave an .odex behind. Despite it missing, it's still working perfectly. Or, rather, as Sony intended it to work (which is, for me, far from perfect).
(See the attachment if you don't believe me -- I always leave .odex behind when I delete system apps just in case something goes wrong and I have to restore it from an earlier backup)
I absolutely love ACDisplay, similar to the motorola lock screen, and I really like the minimalist approach. I set it to show my background instead of the black screen and I think it looks great in combination with Tapet wallpaper app.

Can AcDisplay be set as the lockscreen (that is, can it be set to show itself even when there are no notifications)?
Having it wake up the screen will probably drain the battery as well, so unless there's a way to basically set it to act as a normal lockscreen, I'd avoid it.

The XTP one is pretty much empty, no res folder, just the manifest and meta-inf. The keyguard is interesting though -- this is Sony's lockscreen!
Any chance replacing this with an older Xperia's Keyguard would work?
And to answer my own previous question -- AcDisplay can be made into the lockscreen. A damn good one, too, though I'd still like a system app.

Yes you can set it to be as a normal lock screen. It works great, especially with double tap --> double tap to wake up (check clock or notifications) and again double tap to turn off the screen.
You can also set that notifications don't wake up the phone.
