[Q] Bluetooth with custom roms - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I noticed some weird problem on my device! I have my audio threw Poweramp Pro and my headphone is a Beats by Dr.Dre Wireless. Bluetooth works and pairs great. But my music won''t go threw the headphone but still the Phone speaker.
I can play and pause on my Beats, but I have no sound. With every custom rom I tried.
Anybody else has the same experiance or.....?
Thx in advance.
Fabian1985

I don't use beats. It's not helpful but my plantronics work great as expected.

Please...It's q&a. I gave a q you are giving me comment, not a a.
Nobody who can fix this? If so i have to go back to orriginal stock. Because now i have a 250 bucks Beat Wireless and....
By the way thats another issue. Samsung and the 3, 5mm jack. How is it possible samsung made them like that so you can even play normal music. I'm done with samsung. Wanna trade the stupid thing.

You need to do some troubleshooting.
Not sure if this is relevant, but when I have my Bluetooth headphones in, in DSP manager, it IS "Speaker" I need to change the EQ on, which is odd.
Best advice
1) Pick a custom ROM
2) Do full wipe and NO restore
3) Confirm NOT working
4) Post in that ROM thread

[Q] Poor sound quality of music through headphones

Hi,
I really hope i dont have a faulty device, but the sound through my headphones (which have been working a day before on my beloved htc hero perfectly) is rather week, 75% maybe of the top volume i could reach on my hero.
I've already tried this in the default music app, and also on Jango Radio (internet music app).
the sound is rather week and also kind of not crystal clear.
is anybody else having this problem? and what can i do about it?
thanks alo!
Yes, actually I have the same thing, and I think a software problem with the music player, it stops when I raise the volume or when i press on the 5.1 ch icon or sometimes on it's own

I never get these threads..I have some Sure Klipsch gold, which aren't the most sensitive and in think i know what you mean. Just stuff them in your ears some more.

Working fine!!
I've been using other earphones, but when i tried the one coming with the phone......blast!!!! that's y it was giving me problems!
Super dooper!!
sorry SGS II i underestimated u!!
Definitely the best phone ever up till now
I also noticed really bad quality with the stock headset.. After trying with the headphones from an iPod, the sound quality was much better.. So i guess the problem is really the stock headset.
The stock headphones are pretty bad. I don't get low volume. In fact, I get large amounts of distortion on higher volumes when using headphones. The sound quality is poor, but after tweaking with an EQ (PowerAMP!) it can be some-what salvaged.
There are also options in music player itself (equaliser and effects). For me it is sufficient to improve quality to desired level.
Is audio level & quality same as galaxy S
I am confused between Galaxy sII & xperia neo. I am shifting from Galaxy S, I got the phone refunded from samsung before this I have a wave, that also was refunded by samsung. Its obvious that I am a bit afraid going for samsung this time but still feel they are the best. I got this info from research that Galaxy SII doesn't have a good audio quality in comparison with the legendry Galaxy S. I can't afford to take risk for a 30K phone if it doesn't play good music because carrying an Ipod is virtually impossible if u already have S II in ur pocket. Thats the reason I have narrowed down to galaxy S II or Xperia Neo. But I need to confirm if its not even to galaxy s level in terms of audio quality and volume levels, plz help me folks, I am waiting for some helping replies and plz don't blind fold urself being loyal to ur device becoz my respect for Samsung is immortal, its just that I can't spend 30K blindly. I will have to consider the music segment.

Just do a fine tuning on your volume settings with the 'Samsung Secret Codes'
See this thread for guidance: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069015
Although for hearing music I had no problems, it was necessary for me to boost the headset volume for voice calls.
oh common, stop with this volume settings with Samsung secret codes, that has been posted by many here that this thing doesn't work. The numbers are re setting themselves back to original. The overall volume is just too low on this phone. I hope the 2.3.4. will adjust it higher.
Highly recommended:
To get clear sound from your Galaxy S II, simply install the free version of the brilliant "Equalizer"-app from Market. It has a five-band equalizer. From there you can increase the levels of the desired frequencies, treble, bass, midrange etc. The Galaxy S II has far to low default treble. This app takes care of that No root, no hassle.
There is also a paid version, but it is just needed if you want more than one custom preset.
But What about the levels of volume? Is it at par with the old Galaxy S?

Well, I'm sorry for your insoluble problem, but I effectively fixed my volume problem in a permanent way (with various reboots with unchanged config after tweaking) using these codes.
I do apologise for my useless advice. I was only trying to help.
I hope you find a solution for your problems soon.

Actually, I've solved my volume problems following the guide of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741012 . and not the other one that I mentioned above. Unfortunately, it seems that it applies only for voice and video call volume, not for the media player. That said, I have to say that my music player is very loud, either using the headset or the speaker. I'm using the KE7 stock ROM.
Best of luck for you all guys.
the link you provide is for the old Galaxy S1, and even there guys complain about low level of EAR SPEAKER, and that the tweaked numbers reverse back to original after phone restart or re boot. So my question is: how did you make the new numbers to stay on your phone? I am using same KE7 and stock firmware as well. I can't raise the volume by these codes at all, doesnt stay not even 2 phone calls. Can you reveal the magic how did you do it? ( no offense to you at all, I am just helpless because I can't barely hear people calling me, driving in my car - Mercedes btw...)
Thank you for your help
Most stores (in Sweden anyway) have the phone so you can try it yourself, just go to a shop where either a manager carries it or the store has a demo of it and bring your headphones! You can't go wrong with that!
I have a really nice piece of Denon's (AH-D1001) and even though the phone can't power as well as the older galaxy s, I get a really natural good sound with mine and it's just loud enough. No EQ needed.

Yes, the original thread was for the ancient SGS1, nevertheless, the command still works for the SGS2 (at least for my device). Before I did the 'fine tuning' on my volume settings (following the SGS1 guide on the mentioned thread), I could barely hear the other person's voice in a phone call while using the headset. Now I adjust the volume around 70-75% for making phone calls using the headset, which is more than enough for me. I didn't do anything different than the guide says, and I have no idea why it doesn't work for your device.

I'm looking as well, but I'm afraid no kernel currently implements it
I have read that KF1 support it,
Can anyone confirm?
same problem... newest lite'ning rom.. KE3 Kernel.... for the Galaxy 1 exist a app in the market but it dosent work for the SGS2.

That is false because the purpose of the app is to redirect media audio to the dock. Call audio is not redirected as well.
KF1 supports it? I'm on KG6 (VillainRom) and I won't change to KF until pulser updates the ROM.
Can someone confirm that?
I am looking for the same solution for (official) car dock AND desktop dock. All sounds go through line-out except calls which is kind of a stupid oversight by Samsung.
What I'd like is option to have all audio through the 'line-out' of the official docks
Option to have FM work via the same
Option to have the phone operate like a radio alarm when in the desktop dock
1 question though. My phone died on me tonight and when I got back to the car I put it in my dock which made it turn on right away. I got to input my pin, then I saw it was charging but it switched off and restarted and kept on going (off->on for 15secs-> off).. I figured it was because it was running out of battery faster than it was charging it - ridiculous since I wasn't doing anything with the phone. So I had to unplug the car charger cable from the back of the dock, put it in my dead phone for 5mins then replug everything in again.
Samsung needs to look into that seriously...
Edit: I'm running 2.3.4 XXKG5 atm
Where can I place clarification request from Samsung to support phone calls into the Dock?
I will donate 25$ to the one that will make it work
Anyone else ?
Not sure about $25 but I'd donate a few dollars if someone can make the voice and radio be passed through the usb line out while using the existing apps.
Who knows how long it will take Samsung to implement a feature which I am surprised doesn't already work.
I have used my phone connected through the headphone output to my car stereo and made phone calls using the car speakers for the voice feedback and the internal phone mic for my voice. And it worked really well with no echoing at all which surprised me. I thought with the added volume through the speakers that feedback issue would occur but it didn't appear so. Maybe the secondary mi helps with the eco cancellation.
this problem still persists with XWKI4 stock rom. call audio outputs fine through the headphone jack on the phone itself, but refuses to route through the dock. with all of other audio going fine through usb, i'm inclined to think that it's a bug and can be fixed.
And the problem is also present in XWKI8...
I'd also be more than happy to donate to any dev prepared to look into getting the call audio rooted through the line out. I've been reading into it a little bit and apparently it is likely to be something that can be changed with a modded kernel. Unfortunately I have no developer experience and wouldn't even know where to start.

Voodoo Volume Hack

hi all. i love my evo, but when i plug my phone into my car stereo via an aux cable, the volume is crazy low. i like blood leaking out of my ear when i listen to guns n' roses. lol. anyways, there used to be an app that was named something along the lines of "Voodoo Sound" or "Voodoo Loud Controller" or something like that. the icon was a red android dude on a black background and i can't for the life of me find it. i have used DSP manager, but it's still not as loud as i would like it to be and i have my stereo volume turned all the way up as well. i don't like apps like loud volume hack because i don't want to spend the time fine tweaking every little detail. i just want to crank that **** and rock out. your help is greatly appreciated as well as any other apps that may be similar to the one i'm looking for.
thanks all.
and please no negative comments about Guns N' Roses. i listen to the original GN'R, not the new lame one.
Help?

Voodoo sound is for Samsung devices only. That is why you can no longer find it in the market.
Flash a sense 4.0 rom with beats audio. Im using my evo as an mp3 player in my truck and it sounds awesome.

All I had to do was google "voodoo sound"
Edit:
Just so this doesn't turn into a 'this doesn't work' thread, it only works for certain devices, I saw something about the paid version working on any phone or something of that nature, but I would recommend reading up on it first before you buy it.

I can tell you 100% this only works for Samsung devices. It will only show in the market for devices it works with.

Anyone having problems with headsets with mics.?

On my and my son's phone; when are talking to someone, they are complaining they can't hear us properly when using wired headsets with microphone. I've used 4 different headsets, all with the same results. 2 of them were cheap ones, 1 of them was an expensive pair. All with the same results on both phones.
People complain that it sounds like we are far away.
I had my son call me on his SGS2 using the headsets and I listened on both a Blackberry I have, and an Iphone. What it sounds like is when you say a word, the entire word doesn't come through the other end. For example: If you say the word "Doghouse" it might come on the other end as "oghouse" or "ghouse."
Almost like the phone is not translating analogue voice to digital sounds quick enough or completely. This has been tried in several coverage areas so I know its not that.
The problem is with both phones. Each phone has a different case. The problem existed before and after rooting. (Happened right out of the package)
I've used both Entropy and Siyah kernels. Also tried the SGS_InCall_Volume_Fix.
Anyone else having this problem? Also, If not; then what wired headset with mic. are you using?
Thank You in Advance!

Unnamed 2.2.1
Siyah 2.6
I had the same issue with CM 7.1 nightly 11 and my Scoche headset (made for iPhone, unfortunately). Great headphones, but horrible sound quality. I haven't tried the same headset on my phone that's now running UnNamedROM 2.2.1. Probably the same result.
Is noise cancellation disabled? You might want to try that out, but CM 7 doesn't have noise cancellation anyways... If only we had access to the service menu... there are settings in there to change it.

I forgot to mention; I've tried with noise cancel on and off, and there was no difference. (Or noise suppression?)

Huh.. that is odd... I know how to fix it then, its a setting in the Service menu that changes the dB required to "activate" the microphone... but again, AT&T locked the Audio part of that menu...
I haven't had an issue..Use the Samsung headphones typically, and also some Skullcandy ones.
Yes. Same problem, with Hello Direct Ultralight headset. Audio output (mono, through the single ear speaker) is fine. Audio input via the microphone is not working. I'm using a 2.5 -> 3.5mm adapter but it has 3 conductors and probably is not the problem.
Phone has not been rooted... yet.
Any other suggestions appreciated...
Thanks
Tim
I use Bose MIE2 and also Klipsch S4A without any mic issue.

Audio problems

So..before buying these Xiaomi Hybrid Pro HD earphones, I had some panasonics that worked perfectly
Now, whenever I try to listen to music using these xiaomi hybrid pro hd's on my redmi note 3 , the sound starts intrerupting in the right earbud.. it only happens when theres too much low bass or when the sound is above 50%.
I tried these headphones on my old s4 active, on my pc, and they work perfectly there.
Why is it that they only have problems on my redmi ? And why them? other headphones have no problems..
I tried updating with a new ROM, it still doesnt work. Im at 8.2.4.0 miui
anyone?
Try using a different pair of headphones on ur redmi, if the issue persists i recommend reflashing your rom
@AgentBuBu
I tried other headphones and they all work perfectly fine..instead of this one..
and ive also tried these xiaomi hybrids to my pc and a old samsung galaxy s4 active and they sound good there.
so idk what to do..
Check on the system built in sound effects for the headphones, tweak the settings in there, see if you can find any fix, if not, according to what you said that the device doesn't show any hardware issue related to the sound output, reinstall the rom. For this there are thousands of threads you can find detailing it step by step. Good luck

I tried to,but nothing really fixes it. I even updated my ROM from miui 7 ,7.1.99.99 *unofficial* to miui 8 official stable 8.2.4.0..and its the same. I did see on a youtube video a guy with a xiaomi reviewing some headphones..and he had this option called smth like " HD Audio" activated..it was right between the eq and miui sound improvement thing in the audio/headphones section..and I dont have it.. i think that might do the trick..but i cant find the video anymore ,and I dont know what miui he had. do u have a clue?
Issue sounds hardware related to the earphones. Do you have a case on your phone? Is the 3.5mm jack bent a bit by any chance? Maybe some pocket lint in the 3.5mm port? If all you've done software wise is updated MIUI it's highly likely it isn't going to do anything, you'd have to factory reset too.
