I use the usual samsung dialer and love it.
When I go to "contacts", i filter them by choosing the "Show only contacts with phone numbers" from one of the menus.
Problem is the search option. When I search for a contact (by first name for example), it completely ignores the "Show only contacts with phone number" and shows many emails (from gmail contacts).
This is very anoying. How do I show onlu contacts with phone numbers when searching, without changing thw dialer ?

Guys, i have a problem with this ROM. It's related to PHONE.apk. Every time i try to add a contact it goes to GOOGLE CONTACTS and not the phone contacts. Even when i restored my vcard it only shows google contacts when i clic on the contact tabs. Is there a way to see the PHONE contacts and not google contacts ??
In the display options there is no option for display only the PHONE CONTACTS

Nope. I just don't know how to display only the phone contacts. There is no option for that.

You could try using an alternate dialer.
Can you give a hint on one?
For my phone, i just go to the contacts screen press the left button and select "display options". In that screen you should be able to select "only contacts with phones" and it won't show any of your contacts that are just email addresses, or twitter, etc
I have V4.5.7. though so I'm not sure if it would be different.
Does anyone have the issue of duplicate contacts in messaging? I see all my contacts twice in messaging when i go to create new. For whatever reason, it reads the sim card and phone contacts. In my phone contacts it only shows one of every contact. I have tried reflash/wipe and checked messaging contacts straight away but it shows SIM contacts as a default. There is no way to unselect this option.
running XXKG2 litepro 3.1 so not sure if different ROMS make a difference
OK, you are running KG2, so that's 2.3.4 right? AFAIK, there is an added option to view/add contacts from SIM cards now which was missing in the first place. So there may be an option to see only SIM/Phone/Google contacts. Try to find it if it is there.

This option is not available in messaging. I have looked but cannot find. In the contacts icon, you have the option to see sim, phone, facebook etc. But selecting what you want to see here does not reflect in the messaging app

I maybe wrong but in 2.3.3 this is what I get by pressing Menu- More- Display options- Select contacts to display under Contacts, so are you getting this option or not?

but you are doing this in contacts. If you go to your messaging. Create a new message. Select a contact from your list. My list has everyone twice.
There are no options to select what to display in the messaging app

IF SOME ONE FROM U GUYS using BackUp PRO app from market this is your ISSUE !
Go to the Contacts app, press menu and select Merge with Google or something like that. Then check contacts.google.com on your pc and remove the duplicates.
Nothing above worked for me!
Seems sms app opens contacts app regardless of view options set in contacts app.

Running Litening Rom 6 and standard Kernel but think this is a general question
When I go into view the contacts I have the contacts are not duplicated. However when I go to send a text using GoSms or the standard messaging and select a contact they are duplicated?
Not sure how to remove these and if the phone is picking up names from both the sim and the phone for SMS messages. Checked the settings and cannot determine why names are duplicating?
Anyone got any way to remove this duplication or set it up that phone picks up contacts from just phone or sim?

"Contacts">Menu Button>"More">"Display Options".....
Fiddle around with the Sim/Phone/Google contacts settings and see if that helps....
Tried everything and still no joy? Updated to Litening Rom 6.1 and changed the kernel.
Removed Go SMS pro and then reinstalled and its seems to be picking up the names from phone and SMS. However on the contacts names are not duplicating. The display options show only contacts with phone option ticked also under select contacts to display under phone all other contacts is ticked and under Sim nothing is ticked?
Getting annoying trying to find names when texting and cannot even delete duplicate contacts under Go SMS
Anyone have any other options ?

I had this problem. The SMS application was displaying both the phone contacts and SIM contacts. The actual contacts list was set to only display phone contacts, the sms app obviously ignores this and displays both.
I deleted the SIM contacts and that cured the problem.

In contacts i have selected the option to display contacts with number only.
However when i search for a name by typing i get all the contacts like email ids containing that name???
Its time consuming to scroll down and select the contact with phone number and dial it!!
Please help
how about filtering out the contacts with e-mail e.g. gmail account contacts? (menu -> contacts to display)
or you can customize the view at the same menu (menu -> contacts to display -> customize view -> uncheck the contacts that you don't want to view)

I have the same version and i dont have this problem.
try installing ics contacts from play store it might fix it.
I select display only phone contacts but when type a letter to contact search bar it displays all contacts which results
emails from my gmail profile etc
i don't want to see all contacts when i click search. i want to see only phone contacts
how to fix this issue ?
