Hey
I'd love to but unfortunately I'm rather new to the world of 'droid hacking. This *IS* by far my favorite distro but as of yet I've not yet been able to get educated enough to piece together a local manifest that will allow me to build this ROM. Learning, but not very quickly I'm afraid. Can build CM no probs, but that's following someone else's recipe.
I've been a UNIX developer for coming up on 18 years tho' and what I really want to do is learn enough to be able to build and package these ROMs and kernels for any device and then doh in at code level and fix some of the silliness that I've had since JB came out for this device.
If you think I can be of some help in some way, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards!

Hey Papa Smurf151,
Just wondered if you knew anything about the device nodes. Having a problem with the latest ROM. Torch won't work until I change the permissions of the device node. (chmod 666 torch) It reverts on reboot and I have to do it again. Is this registered via udev or ??? Do you know???

Im sure that if you submit the patch to fix it to cm gerrit that they will incorporate it into the device file and you wont have to make that fix over and over again

I'm not sure what the best approach is here. Further not sure how it broke. There's some SELinux changes being incorporated and I'm wondering if this isn't part of all that. Need to hook up with the kernel/device twiddlers & find out what the best solution is. Odd that the SIII is and Note II isn't affected.

I think it's just an updater script issue and easily fixed... How far r u from adding support

I think pretty close to done. Unless I missed something, which is entirely possible, all that's left is getting a thread set up here. I sure am loving the ROM!!

Currently needing to revert device files (device/htc/;jewel, msm8960-common & kernel/htc/msm8960) to an ICS branch as rest of build environment is set-up for 4.0.4 from mozilla. Should be easy enough, tracking down all device specific commits since JB may be more of a challenge.

Not 100 percent sure but I think this was the branch based off of ICS
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_htc_msm8960.git
It doesn't have built in wifi drivers so you will need to use the prima_wlan module from a 2.13 base rom

Right on, I just created the branch "master" and checked it out in local directory, which has allowed the build script to run, so this is a step forward. Was the CM branch for ICS kernel "android-msm-jewel-3.0"? Your link pulls the msm8960 kernel git but defaults to the jb branch. Lol

Edit: I have a @$$ load of commits to push, anyone cloning project check for recent commits relevant to allowing build process to begin. Fixing errors now 1x1..
Been merging files from aosp into a build. I've got a zip ready. Haven't had a chance to test it. And dammit Jamie! You beat me to posting haha!

Error here- http://pastebin.com/ZqEbDZWt
What I don't get, is there have been several errors I vhave worked through, all related to files that needed to be extracted from the "extract-files.sh" script which calls on "proprietary-files.txt" in the jewel device folder. Up to this point it has only been necessary to add the name of a given file ie; libril.so, to the proprietary-files.txt, and be sure that there is a call for it in "jewel-vendor-blobs.mk" and it has accvounted for the error. Not with the above linked error. I wouls think I can cancell out any calls related to camera, as they are not necesssary to getting a bootable build, just not sure where to cancell the camera from the build. Can anyone lend sopme insight into this?
Edit: fixed
Edit2: Whoever it was at CM that thought it was "cute" to add everything the way they did for frameworks/native rather than stick to frameworks/base is most likely responsible for an increase in sales of alcohol world wide... BUUURP

We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Will this ROM work on SGH-S959G? Looking to try different ROMs and this one seems cool.
I haven't tested this version but when I did a little while back from the i9100 forums I loved it. This is a great rom folks, thank you team carbon for keeping our i777 alive.
Awesome! Thanks team Carbon. Been running this on my toro for a while. Great rom. Now I can slap it on my work i777 too.

It should, nightlies have halo..
Did it boot right for anyone? And if it did, which recovery from which kernel did you use, and do you have your APN's as usual after flashing?

[rom][4.3][unofficial] carbon rom [9/14/2013]

ABOUT CARBON
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on Carbon Dev GitHub
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
FEATURES
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

SUPPORT
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page http://goo.im/devs/carbon.
4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.
5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.
------- I also will be around as much as I can to answer questions and help out in anyway I can. ------- -- BDogg718 --

I decided to compile this while Im waiting for the Dirty Unicorns devs to fix up the last couple things before releasing. Which should be in next day or two. If I get enough positive feedback about this ROM I will gladly continue to update it. Everything I've tested is working. HALO, PIE and MMS. Enjoy guys!

It's been just 12hrs since I flashed this and I too have no issues till now. Working great. Liked the speedo battery icon (yes it does take more screen space but still it's different and I like it). And ram status in circle.

I tried it for a bit.... prefer Slim, although Carbon has Halo, Devil Kernel, & some really awesome battery icons (love the speedometer). Slim benchmarks better and has a nicer pie and Nova built in. BIG thanks to Bdogg for giving us all these great options to choose from... maybe tomorow I will try DU!
