i dont know if the real term is "PUSH" when you want to replace the mms.apk !! wanna ask sir how i can change the default messaging app in my android thanks for the answer
You habe to replace the Mms.apk in /system/app on your phone. To do so you need a file explorer with root privileges that is able to remount the system partition with read write option(normally it's mounted readonly). E.g. root browser or es file explorer
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
u could also push via adb which is my preferred method or put your desired app in a flashable zip, flash it in recovery, reboot, all done,no need to mess with explorer apps or setting permissions as it does it for you
use adb shell from terminal or command prompt:
1. adb push path:\mms.apk /system/app
2. adb shell
3. cd /system/app
4. su
5. chmod 644 mms.apk
6. chown root:root mms.apk

Did you remount the system partition as RW first? The app should let you do this
I have just done what was said in the tutorial so I don't think that I have done what you say and actually I don't quite know what that is.
I made myself a bootscreen and I tried to use that but it didn't work so I downloaded a bootscreen available on the web but that didn't work either.
The bootscreen I have at the moment is from here called drawing-froyo maybe it has to do something with that.
Nah, nothing to do with which one you have.
You need to find out how to remount system in astro (google maybe) and do that.
It will then be easy to overwrite
You could use adb, or downloader a popular root explorer for your pc to browse your phone

Could you provide the adb command to remount with the proper permissions?
Command prompt:
C:\ ..\> adb devices <-- this will detect your phone connect to pc
C:\ ..\> adb remount <-- remount the phone
C:\ ..\> adb shell <-- command to enter shell command, the drive letter C change to # meaning u have enter shell mode
# su <-- superuser permission
# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system <-- changing permission of read/rewrite
# cd /system/media/bootscreen/ <-- change directory to /system/media/bootscreen/
# ls -l <-- list of apps/files in current directory, this is not important, just to ensure the file u seek is there..
# rm any_files_u_wanna_delete <-- remove aka delete command(make sure u already backup or pulled it before doing this)
# exit <-- exit shell command, type it again until the # change back to "C:\>"
C:\ ..\> adb push C:\any_files_u_wanna_push /system/media/bootscreen/ <-- push ur files, with directory of the file to push then directory of where the files should be pushed in
C:\ ..\> adb reboot <-- reboot command, reboots the phone, unplug it and see it runs.. if the bootanimation didn't play/just stalled, try redoing all these steps with the old bootanimation, or do a nandroid restore.
as far as I know, bootanimation in /system/media/bootanimation/ folder is not in zip files, it's in multiple files(in my stock 2.1, it's boot.gif, boot.mp3, boot2.gif, boot_animation.xml and boot_bg.gif). so I bet, u have to extract these files from the zip and push it one by one.
Good luck on adb
I created script to change framework-res.apk
--New-- Script with safer operation uploaded.
Requirements
-rooted
-busybox installed
1-copy framework-res.apk that you want to replace to the root of your sdcard (make sure it's in root)
2-extract reframe.zip(attachment) to root of your sdcard
in adb shell, use this command:
Code:
su
cd /sdcard
sh reframe.sh
your phone will reboot. and done! your framework-res.apk replaced safely.
Original framework-res.apk backed up as framework-res.apk.orig in /sdcard
Is there any method to get back original framework from SDCard, and paste it to /system, when my phone doesn't want to boot?

ops.if you have working rootshell, you can replace it using rootshell. but, since you've go back to 1.6, it doesn't matter. just install xrecovery in the future, quite useful.
Now I have system back (after about 2h) with working xRecovery and... God!.. why I haven't noticed it before...
i wanna ask how to recover the framework-res.apk from the xrecovery??
mount /system and use adb push
edit: new script. revised operation
D:\adb>adb remount
remount failed: Operation not permitted
any help here? I need to replace the framework
nm, forgot to chmod 06777 /system/framework
Thank you for you work. I hope to see this work Just rebooted my phone after applying your script.

adb won't stay open if you click it, it will just flash out on the screen.
it was supposed to be somekind of a "bridge" for the cmd and the phone...
correct me if i'm wrong please...
You have to copy cmd.exe to the SuperOneClick folder, then you have to open the cmd.exe, not the superonecklick.exe.

I think it works if your phone is charged by your laptop/computer only. You do not allow it to connect. I mean you can not reach SDCard through Total Commander, etc. only charging.
Help
# sh reframe.sh
sh reframe.sh
sh: Cannot open reframe.sh

any ideas
got SuperOneClick 1.5.5 ( busybox )

Hi,
Today I followed 2 tutorial to how to do it. OK I have old market, but it FC in 5 seconds (com.android.vending). I'm annoyed cause of new market, IT LAGS SO MUCH. Is there any solution for old market on STOCK ROM?
Using MIUIv1

Solution:
1. Download ‘Vending.apk’ from here
2. Reboot into recovery and plug into pc,
3. mount /system using your recovery
4. From your preferred ADB console run these commands
adb push Vending.apk /system/app
adb shell rm /system/app/MarketUpdater.apk
adb shell chmod 644 /system/app/Vending.apk
adb shell chown root.root /system/app/Vending.apk
5. Reboot your phone .
[ Originaly posted by Omnichron http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231358 ]
6. Download and install http://www.4shared.com/file/s1PoadZK/comandroidvending-236.html
(No reboot required)
(This is original 2.3.6 version of market, no suspicious permissions)
Delete the MarketUpdater from system/app. It will prevent ur market from gettin upgraded. Then uninstall upgrades from settings- applications- manage apps .

First you have to open a command window in ADB then type:
Code:
adb shell
chmod <numeric premission> <file or directory>
For example once in adb shell:
Code:
chmod 755 superuser.apk
Let me know if you still have questions .

The 755 in the chmod command corresponds to how Linux sets file permissions, using a numeric system. In Linux each file or directory has 3 permission Owner (The owner of the file), Group (Others who have access to the file), and Other (Everyone else). Chmod 755 means that the owner has full read, write, and execute privileges while the group has read and execute permissions, and the other group has read and execute permissions. Let me use an analogy, person A (Owner) is the owner of the file so he has full permission do what ever he wants with the file read, write, execute (7). Then say person A is working with person B (Group), but person B doesn't need to make changes to the file so he only needs to be able to read the file and execute the file so he is given read and execute privileges (5). Now person A and person B have a few friends (Other) who want access to the file but Person A and B don't want there friends to be able to change the file just read it and execute it, so they would be granted read and execute privileges (5). When you put all the privileges together you get 755 numeric permission. For more information on how file permissions work in Linux I would recommend taking a look at this guide and this guide.
hi
i need to push a file with adb
but adb push give me permision deny
how can fix this?
my device is rooted but adb show me device not rooted!
Is USB Debugging on?

In some rom adb permission isn't root by default. I think it's a line in default.prop that enable root in adb. Something like
ro.adb.secure = 0
if you don't want to edit that file just push file to sdcard or temporary folder then use adb shell (with root) to copy that file to proper location.
but 2 days ago adb work like acharm in this rom!

That's strange. Maybe in your rom adb push works only when file doesn't exist.
no. i push framework-res.apk 5 days ago & it work! framework-res.apk is exist already
but i test this file again & permision deny!
How about su before the command? Or adb remount, to get write access?

I have the same problem too and remounting the adb doesn't solve it.
I'm still searching for a fix. I can only pull but not push.
If y'all are on a stock rom, then you can't push anything directly into the system (unless your bootloader is unlocked & you modify the boot.img). I use the following mount command
mount -o remount /system
First push the file to the sdcard
adb push blablabla /sdcard
then adb shell it to the correct location.
It's a lot of bs but it's the only way I got it to work with stock.
Here's an example of a batch script I made
Code:
adb push LGSystemUI.apk /sdcard/
adb shell su -c "mount -o remount /system"
adb shell su -c "cp /sdcard/LGSystemUI.apk /system/app/"
adb shell su -c "chmod 644 /system/app/LGSystemUI.apk"
adb shell su -c "killall com.android.systemui"
