Hi folks! I have just installed official cm 10.2 and I had about 100-500mb space left when android said insufficient space available then I deleted android/data when freed up 9-10gb of space and now I am trying to install stweak and I can't because insufficient storage space message??
Edit:it only comes if I try to install afterburner or stweaks or overclocking softwares but Rom toolbox works correctly but in cm 10.2 it's glitches time after time little more than browser glitches .
I am having the same problem. I've just flashed Omnirom nightly 4.4.1. I installed a couple of apps and everything is ok, but now I cannot install anything due to insufficient storage space.
I've looked in Storage settings, it tells me I only have 228mb available. However, adding up the categories tells me I have less than 2Gb used.
It won't even let me install Folder Mount, and that's only 15mb!
Anybody else haing this issue/ any solutions?
Thanks, John williams
Check for *.odex files in /data and delete them.

I have a Acer Liquid Metal on 2.3.6. I have a custom ROM T&L. It came preinstalled with Link2SD. I like to try lots of apps and this problem seems to be haunting me. I reset my phone on the 26th Dec as it was so annoying. I think I have set up Link2SD correctly. I have a 4gb SD with 1gb as ext2. Please see the screen shots attached.
If I have Link2SD, why do I still have a problem with low internal storage?? I have had to remove some app's but the internal storage always gets lower.
Have I set Link2SD up correctly? How can I resolve this problem?
If you need anything further please let me know.
Thanks,
Matt
I have the same problem

Hey all of you are getting confuse, this is the solution and it was already mention but maybe you get confuse... Using link2sd...link all your apps as normal, probably after a couple installations you will get low memory, but how is that possible... well..
Just download ANDROID TERMINAL EMULATOR from Market and install it(you must be ROOTED to use it).
Now just TYPE in Terminal:
su
a2sd cachesdreset
After this your device will reboot and you will get a lot of space on your phone... probably link2sd should add this feature on new version but IF not this will works ( i believe that some info stay on phone and link2sd can't see it but phone will keep showing it even if that is garbage or already move to the 2nd partition on your phone just do does command and that is... after that you will love link2sd and will never go back or use app2sd....
Tested By Me... On my Galaxy Ace

Hi Guys,
I own Samsung Galaxy Y Duos S6102. Its internal storage is approximately 180Mb. I have rooted the phone and increased my storage to 1Gb using Link2SD.
Now, i have installed around 25 apps and i link them all using Create Link and checking on all 3 checkboxes. Still, my internal storage is getting low. Now i cannot install any apps as the internal storage has become less than 25Mb
When i see the storage info from Link2SD it shows 650Mb free out of the 1Gb partition that i created.
I tried the solution posted above but could not do it. If it helps please be more descriptive
Thank You

an easy way to gain at least 40 mb of internal storage on this phone:
open dialler, dial *#9900#
and then select 'copy to sd card'
results vary but it did help me to regain about 40 mb the first time i tried it
Use ram booster as well as delete all the cache and try to install mount2sd better than link to sd I hope it will help you

You need to install link2sd plus, which enables app and data files to be moved to sdcad
hi, when i try to download some large apk from google play, it seems there will be an error about insufficient storage.
i am running cm9 beta 7 from maclaw and have created symlinks for
/cache/download -> /sdcard/cache
/data/data/com.android.vending/cache -> /sdcard/cache/marketCache
i have a feeling that google play is storing the downloaded apk's somewhere else because after reboot i still get the insufficient storage error. it was so much easier last time using the normal market, before play.
thanks
Low internal memory. Wipe dalvik cache and use something like s2e or link2sd

i have 20mb free in /cache and 24mb free in /data and 3gb free in /sdcard
i already wiped dalvik, but it seems that it just exceeds the partition size and refuses to download from play.
i am trying to symlink the cache to sd like the old times in cm7 but i am not sure where does play store the temp downloaded apps
I had this problem on CM7. An app called MarketFix by Felipe Aron fixed it
sorry to say but i also tried to use that app, it just seems to create a symlink for /cache/download
i also had this working in cm7 but now in cm9 it doesnt work anymore.
i am not sure if it is due to cm9 or due to google play relocating its temp dir.
Check out superace609's apps2sd tutorial
Its amazing...I have 100mb internal memory free
Only works on cm7 though

Hi,
I am running the latest Omni ROM nightly (12/17) and my internal storage has a major bug where it says I have 170Mb free space when only ~400Mb is actually used by apps and caches, this is out of the 2Gb possible.
To see if this was a bad flash I verified the MD5 on my 12/17 nightly ROM and then re-flashed Omni which on first boot correctly presented the internal storage full space but after the first play store app was installed (xda premium) it jumped back to the space situation described above.
I can't install any more play store apps due to "insufficient storage"
Anyone have this happen or have any idea's?
Thanks,!

Yes and after it did have the correct internal flash size then I installed an app from the play store and checked the internal storage and it was broken again

You know..... I would've just asked in the Omni thread or pm'd the dev. Just my silly logical thinking i suppose.
I don't have 10 posts the minimum to comment in the other sub-forums. Yes I could've PM'ed the OP but that is only a single person audience.
-Have you tried different apps as your "first app install"?
-What housekeeping did you perform inbetween your prior firmware and OMNI?
-Have you tried and observed this behavior on other ROMS since it has shown up on OMNI?

Insufficient storage issue
I have Omni ROM 4.4.2 (26.12.2013 nightly build + kernel - 3.0.6-CM-ge07399aa) installed in my samsung Galaxy Note 1.
Phone works fine but when I try to install an app (size doesn't matter) it reports that it has insufficient space.
In storage, phone tells that Internal sotrage first has 216 MB space free and second has 10.53 GB free and further this I have external SD card with 8 GB memory.
looked at other posts and tried various options with different cache clean options etc but no benefit. I don't want to wipeout the entire phone.
Please help me.

You might have to, but not all is lost. Install Titanium Backup and back up the apps you have (don't back up system data). Next, do a wipe of everything and restore the apps using Titanium Backup. It's worth a try to see if this resolves the issue.

It was ART for me that caused the memory issues, stick to davlik

Having the same issues ! , even after wiping and formatting (it did work for a while , then came back)..
i Started deleting apps - but for some reason "free space" does not grow back to normal (i.e - clearing an app that weighs 2gb does not show the space was claimed back...)
I have the same problem It is common on Android from what i have seen on many threads and websites, but not found an answer any where
I'm on Beanstalk 4.4.4 by patch_Adams.
Since I upgraded from a previous built (4.4.2) of the same ROM, I'm not able to move installed apps to SD card or to the media storage. Therefore, I'm limited to the 2 GB partition available as "internal storage". The ROM is great and stable and I like it, but the limitation of the app space is really irritating
I tried the following but no luck:
Link2SD
HandleExternalStorgae (Xposed Module)
SDFix
SwapSD
Changing the App permission of External-SD to rw
Other than that I have no complains with the ROM.
Any Ideas or suggestions would help.
Thank you
I too am having the same problems.

Try Titanium Backup
Yes, I guess you are experiencing the same issue - more space needed on internal memory partition/storage.
There are few people who are trying solve this problem by finding expanding solution of the storage size.
Yes, I also tried all those apps(moving to SD) that you mentioned - NON of them work on KK.
Here is the topic I am still looking for anyone's answer/solutions.
[Q] Change internal memory partition?
I wish someone who have great skills on Android file/partition system could make us some kind of ZIP file to adjust this 2GB partition.
same issue and nothing interesting found around the web... Anyone? Do you have found a solution?
same goes here.. i got 12gb internal and 8gb sd card.. but can only use 2gb of them... i wonder if can move all the app to sd card.. it should be fine
Hi there,
I'm sticking with the oos rom...works ok no issues and no big needs for ultra customization.
but.
16Gb are not nough and since I dont' want to sacrifice apps, I'm looking for the rom that need less space on the internal memory...to free some space once installed...
are all the rom made equal?
Tnx guys!

It doesn't really make a difference. Get a micro SD card and use it to expand your storage.
I know I can use an SD and I do use an SD but actually on the internal memory there are 7gb of apps 3,26gb of other and less than 1gb of images, video audio and cache data.
the apps installed are not apps that I can move on the sd.

Well, what you bought is what you got.
Opx has only 16Gb int. memory which only left available less than 12Gb.
Doesn't matter if you flash N custom ROMs, it only has slightly different size (without inbuilt Gapps package). If you're so curious then go for stock AOSP/Pure Nexus ROMs which only has stock/less features.
Weird to me, what kind of apps/games installed on yours so your lack of memory? (seemed so).
I've 70 apps installed with only 1 game, and i still have plenty of memory left.
*If you're on rooted device then just delete any unwanted system apps/services using ES file explorer or kinda. Although that only free small amount of sizes in system memory.
So the trick is: Do not install way too many apps/games that eats memory a lot.

Get one of the nougat ROMs(I highly recommend Paranoid Android), format your SD card as internal storage and you won't have to worry about filling your internal storage up.

I'm really happy with my onyx, the only downside is the free memory....

You can root your OOS > remove all the bloat ( saves approx. 400MB) unroot ( if your not into having your device rooted) and perhaps move those image/video files to exSD.
Flashing a custom rom will probably save you 500 MB including gapps.
The smallest ROM right now would be AOSP-CAF
If you ask smallest rom in size it would be Slimrom, but it doesn't matter, since rom along with all system apps installed on system partition, system partition taking space from internal storage, IINM onyx has fixed 2 gb system partition built in...
Your only option is root your device, bought a micro sdcard and use apps called app2sd, link2sd or foldermount or some apps similar like that.

No I've not had any noticeable performance slow downs when using the SD card. However, do find a reliable ROM that does not have bugs when doing so. For that I'd recommend PureNexus despite the fact that it hasn't been updated for a while. It has been the stablest ROM I've seen so far with Onyx.
The size of the ROM doesn't matter. The device has a separate partition for it anyway. You could have a 600mb ROM and it would be no more intrusive than a ROM that's 300mb.
Another thing, using a ROM with more features does not mean you will suffer from a performance deficit. Enabling some of these features could however have an impact on battery life.
If the features themselves do have a performance impact then I think the ROM team needs to question why they implemented it in the first place.
At the end of the day, they all use the same partition so there's no use in worrying about it

Use Modded OOS, in that way you have both the original OOS with all the extra things removed by default and you would've 6-7 GB free space available on your internal memory. I am also using it. Give it a try
you should move to a custom ROM. They are very good and will save you many GBs of storage and RAM
