[Q] Trying to make bootanimaion - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to make a boot screen that has only one slide in it. I have read many guides, tried different bootanimations to use for templates, but still only get a blank screen.. I have checked permissions, ect
I am completely stuck.. I have tried other custom boot animations and they work just fine.. If someone could please look at my zip and tell me what I did wrong.. I would be forever in your debt..
You can download it from here..
https://www.dropbox.com/s/w00s42kp0bmlr3v/bootanimation.zip
It is for a Samsung Galaxy 4 Running CM 10.2

Won't let me download from phone, if its just one slide (as in a single image) make sure it loops
Otherwise upload it to drop box or something as my phone won't let me download that link

Everything looks right... maybe you need put more images (make some copies, and name them as 0002, 0003... Don't forget to set the compression level to 0, or store).

missing the blank line, try this

CM9 Boot animation for Note *Now CWM Flashable* (works on GB and ICS see 1st post)

I Resized the new cm9 boot animation to fit the note. Looks awwsome. Cant wait for it to hit the note but until then enjoy this kick butt ba. You must have custom kernel installed that allows boot animation change. Check development threads to find these kernels.

Can we flash that or what?

Rename it sanim.zip and place it in system/media or use absolute system from the app market.

Nice!!!! Thanks!!!
I'm assuming you forgot to mention this only works on GB, not ics
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Sorry thats correct. I know theres no kernel out for ics that allows boot animation changes. Thanks for pointing that out for those who didnt know.

did your move the original one after you placed your new one there Ive got it working and it looks great
just a AFAIK
I remember noticing that on "the unofficial (GB)" the file sanim.zip actually linked to a file called bootanim.zip (or close, you can check by doing a properties on sanim.zip with root explorer) Anyway I had been just renaming my animations to that, putting them in the /system/media folder and not messing with sanim.zip
I think that's called a symbolic link or something?

You have to flash kernel that allows the boot animation change using sanim.zip. Check out dagr8s in development section

I renamed the original to a .bak file and left it in system/media. Still no go renaming new one to bootanim.zip
Is the kernel needed for GB?
Btw, yes I set the permissions.

I'm now on UCLE2- via Flappjaxxx Rom, I removed the 2 bootsamsung files within system/media and placed the CM9 zip (renamed to bootanimation.zip) and now get a blank (all black) bootanimation, I flashed your zip w/ my fingers crossed but still to no avail... If anybody has the 2 bootsamsung files I will gladly be happy with the animation that comes w/ the UCLE2 build.. Thanks

I dont believe that build is compatible. It uses stock kernel. If no one beats me to it I'll upload the Samsung files for you in an hour or two when I get back to my shop

Gotcha, thanks, I've been debating doing a reflash, I just have this puppy running so smooth @ this point I think the two files would be more feasible, but I'm on brink of reflashing.. I'll hold on for a bit longer..
Edit:
Just reflashed... Pure Bliss now w/ UCLE2!!!!!!!
Or you guys could install the cm9 in the dev section

Stock Boot Animation Please?

I just need the stock boot animation for the Transformer Prime. I've already searched and couldn't find it.
If there is another thread with the boot animation, go easy on me I'm only 14...
Not quite sure but I think you just have to delete your custom Bootanimation.zip file? Should default back to normal?
Alright, I'll try it when I get back home.
Thanks for the reply!

[BootAnimation] LG Optimus G / Snapdragon S4 (Dark)

I took a few moments to invert its420oclock's LGOG boot animation and thought I would share!
All credit goes to its420oclock :good::good:
YouTube Preview:
DO NOT FLASH IN RECOVERY!!
---- REPEAT ----
DO NOT FLASH IN RECOVERY!!
TO INSTALL:
Download bootanimation.zip & shutdownanimation.zip
Move to phone memory (or SDCard)
Use RootExplorer to copy & paste both zip files into /system/media
(If you want to keep your original boot/shutdown animations as backups, add .bak to their file name before pasting the new animations)
Here's another version... Animations are slowed down slightly and the shutdown animation is reversed, so the OG logo gets smeared, then erased.

You might want to add that it only works on AOSP based roms touch with roms require .QMP files
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
figured it out... you need a kernel that supports this style of boot animations...
and if you don't (i.e. doesn't work for you) ... there is a solution:
go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31833122&postcount=4
and install:
CWM_CustomBootanimation_421_Enable.zip
then you can go on your merry way, flashing all kinds of boot animations like the one linked in the OP's post

That's the exact same problem I was having but I figured it out if you text me boo animation you download from Rom toolbox, rename it to bootanimation.zip , then extract the google boot in the OP and replace the boot in there with the one you just downloaded from romtoolbox thrn rezip and flash
Or just tell me the boot animation you want from rOM Toolbox and I will make a zip for you that will work
