The attached picture is the default back buttons. The one in the OP is the Verizon device.

But as of yet, there hasn't been any mention of a special function, correct?
I went into my local vzw corporate store to look at upgrading to the S4. The manager told me that an LG rep came today and told them that the demos will be available in two weeks.
I'm considering waiting for the G2 but can't get over the non removable battery and no SD.... I might take the plunge and get the S4. Either way I'm curious to test this phone out.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
My S4 is going back tomorrow once I reset it and box it up. I decided to wait for the G2 arrive and GN3 to be announced at IFA so I can get a better understanding. All I need to know is that Verizon isn't going to screw us and not offer a 32GB, heck I would love a 64GB but we know that WON'T happen on Verizon. I also don't expect it until at least Black Friday :|
I don't know why, but I'm excited for this phone. Anyone have experience with LG devices in the past? Have they ever had much support for cyanogenmod? This thing would be sweet with stock android...I think so at least

You should be excited, this phone looks amazing. I've tried my sister in laws OG optimus and it was garbage but that was many moons ago. The fact that they made the last nexus phone gives me high hopes.

I am looking FWD to this phone and I will probably be upgrading my S3 for this phone. It has better specs than anyother phone out there right now. The only other phone I might consider is the new Note 3, but I don't think it is coming to VZW. I think the only downside to this phone is the no SDCard input which makes me want to get the 32gb one if I buy the LG G2.
So I am on the fence. Get the HTC One in a few days time when Verizon finally releases it or wait just a bit longer for this bad boy?
Since Verizon is getting exclusives I would think they would rush this device to the door unlike how they handled the HTC One.
Anyone have an idea when they might start selling this? In a couple months? Late Sep? October?

I'm sure the N3 will be on Verizon, the N2 sold like wildfire for them and Samsung has more carrier leverage than any other manufacturer besides Apple. No way would Sammy let the biggest U.S. network drop their second-best selling phone series.

Most likely October, they said it would take a month to six weeks to send review units to the news outlets, which usually happens a couple weeks before public release.
As far as this vs. the One, it just depends on what you value more. This has a bigger battery, bigger screen, and more powerful processor. The One has better speakers and design. Also you have to consider that development will be more active on the One. It will most likely be more popular with HTC's upcoming marketing push, plus once it's bootloader is unlocked you'll be able to port all the other ROM's already available for it.
I'm not sure how active the community will be for the One on Verizon. People are saying the device could be locked down to hell and with it already being 4 months old maybe developers will just wait till the next big thing. That being the Note 3 or the G2.

Hopefully the lockdown isn't as bad as the s4 but as far development goes with APN editing you can port any of the ROM's already available.

Sure hope so.
I'm ready to upgrade from my razr and the G2 is looking like the #1 contender for my next device. The Note 3 also looks great, but might be a little big for my taste. With the G2 packing a Snapdragon 800, Adreno 330 GPU, large battery, great camera, and 32gb of storage I should be happy with it for awhile. Only thing i'm worried about is android os updates. With this being released on all 4 major U.S. carriers and LG's most anticipated device yet I can't imagine it not getting at least the next few android
updates.
The G2 is launching with 4.2.2 out of the box correct?

Well, isnt the Atrix the sister of Bionic? I heard from VZW that it was delay due to melting issue. Over heat in situation due to the dual core it uses.
Motorola phones are pointless if you care about aosp kernels etc
Also you are supporting the company that wants root community to die...screw them
I like the fascinate, I dont like samsung, the samsung charge looks a lot like the fascinate, with LTE, and front facing camera, I think is better than the thunderbolt, but again, what good is it to have an unencrypted bootloader if the source codes are not released by samsung, see how we have managed with the fascinate, just hunting for leaks, fortunately we have better releases from our devs than from samsung or verizon, and it is very true what Nitsuj17 wrote, we dont want to support a company that wants to control how you use your owned and purchased with your hard earned money phone, screw motorola.
in simple words, I think I am leaning towards samsung charge

Correct and correct. Cyanogen (of all people) has actually picked LG over HTC for his next phone because of this.
I have been with samsung since my first cellphone back in 2004, I will be getting the charge when the price drops.
I think all of them will eventually lock bootloader. Either that or suck.**** on release like samsung. Tbolt looks promising, so is charger.

Same here. I think I'm addicted to the AMOLED screens (cause it sure isn't TouchWiz, using SPB Mobile Shell on the Omnias and LauncherPro on the Fascinate).
The Charge is the new 'big brother' to the Fascinate. The same guts more or less (nothing has changed profoundly), but the 4.3" SuperAMOLED+ Screen vs the 4" SuperAMOLED screen is sexy. Then you sprinkle a little 4G in there and some new cameras, and bam, you have the Charge.

With the OTA 2.2 update tho I'm pretty damn happy with my Fascinate once again. I really think it'd take a screamin' dual core 4G phone to make me really want to jump to a new on.
Yeah I think a dual core would make me more likely to upgrade even sooner.
The charge originally was supposed to be a dual core, but alas it was not to be.
$300 is steep, but if you think about it, its the exact same price as a 32gb iphone.
Think how much better a charge will be than an iphone:
almost 1 inch larger next gen screen.
lte
not stuck on inferior os
etc etc
If you think about it that way, the price seems much more palatable.
I just hope they make the physical buttons better than the DX. Those were flimsy.
That is steep. All of my last four phones were all under 250. Charge has less ram than tbolt. So what warrant the price?

Over and over I keep seeing everyone blaming ATT. Canadian carriers have not released it either. Maybe it is samsung and not our carriers. Maybe samsung is still working on a kernel issue and it is not ready. And now a new leak is about to be released. ATT is producing these leaks?? I don't think so, it is samsung. And no way is ATT a year behind on updates. That comment is absurd. There are many non branded European phones for samsung and HTC still waiting on the ICS update too. So much easier for some of you to just point the finger at ATT.

This.
Or, it could be that the 3rd party app devs that Ma Bell allows in are having problems getting their apps working right alongside TW or the S-Pen. Or maybe someone at the top says they want a nice S-Pen game or maybe...
LOL, point is, there may be one really stupid reason or twenty really good reasons. I just don't think that AT&T worries about it that much, it's not like they are banking on ICS being a reason for more people to buy the Note.
We only see ATT leaks. Where are the Telus, Bell, and Rogers leaks?

Why would ATT be worried about this update? It is not really a factorable selling point anyways. For every one person here on XDA waiting for the update there are a 1000 others who buy and use the note as it is and could care less about an ICS update.
For what ever reason it is not officially released really doesn't matter. It will be released soon. And I would rather wait for a ROM that works flawlessly than have it brick my phone as past Samsung updates have done.
But the issue at hand is this, the note was released not long after ICS and was sold as "Update-able to ICS in first quarter 2012" and it STILL isn't. And we are just about into Q3 with no end in sight. It's the same issue that Infuse (which I bought first) users had getting Gingerbread!! So now, ATT/Samsung has the Skyrocket & Note that were to be updated Q1 and are waiting. And there seems to be no rush because both are pushing new phones with ICS and when you ask you get "Just upgrade your phone". Neither are pushing to get the update out there, because both want you to purchase new hardware out of contract so they make more money. It's a pathetic way to do business to be honest. At least with Verizon I had updates on my Droid's (Droid, Droid 2, Droid X, Droid X2) in a timely manner. So it looks more like carrier & manufacturer in bed to MAKE the users that won't root & update pay for the update to keep the coffers happy.

I would like to see proof on this "Update-able to ICS in first quarter 2012" for the AT&T Galaxy Note. The only actual direct response I saw was a yotube video from the Samsung USA marketing director, and they do not give a date:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcoW7sh-FBk&t=2m40s
Droid x, Droid 2, and Droid X2 are Motorola phones. Not Samsung. Samsung and HTC also have a larger diversity of phones to update. Not sure what timely means? Like I said many other models, carriers, and manufacturers all over the world still have not released ICS on many phones. But I guess the whole world revolves around ATT. Then I remember the Galaxy S series. All US carriers had their versions. And Samsung had 1 helluva time getting Gingerbread updates out on these phones. And that just wasn't ATT? Had to send back an Epic and a Captivate that bricked from an official release.
To Samsung, ATT, or whoever is working on this update, take your time and get it right. Do this for those that root, develop custom ROMs , or use an unrooted phone.
Thought this would be a fun thread.
I'm interested to see what phone people are going to after enduring the x2 for any amount of time.
Personally, I'm thinking about the Note 2, HTC "mystery 5" 1080p" phone, or a nexus (although there are pretty much no details on any of those yet).
I got a Nexus. I'll be getting the next nexus when it drops.

My contract isnt up until April of next year. So unless there isnt anything better out by then (which I'm sure there will be), I will get a Nexus since that is what I really want now. But honestly, the newest Motorola Phones that were just announced dont look bad. Especially if their boot loaders are unlockable and they give me 100 bucks towards it. I think that if you're on Verizon you have to get a developers edition of a motorola phone in order to get an unlocked bootloader.. I do like the looks of the Razr M, but I'm not really feeling spending an extra $500 for something we should be able to do in the first place. Damn Verizon.

They were. It looks as though so far that tool works for every carrier besides the big V. This article shows only the dev editions getting the bootloader unlock as of now. I'm sure that can change, but I don't trust VZW or Moto until it happens.
Also, what would the difference be between the dev edition and regular edition if both could be unlocked..?

One thing I like about my DX2 is the feel. It's sturdy, manly. When I got the SIII, the first thing I noticed was how cheap it felt. I know it's a capable phone, but it felt like a toy phone for a kid. Anyway, sold it and still haven't found anything else I like. With that said, the HD developer edition will probably be in my hand come the winter holiday season.
I'm going for the droid razr HD. That's a sexy phone lol
I'm definitely not going back to Motorola. I like the SGS3 or Note 2, I might try the Note 2 esp if it does really come to VZW. Whatever I get has to have JB preinstalled. I like the fact that both phones have 2GB of RAM, it seems to "future-proof" whatever updates coming from Google. (I know updates are not guaranteed however)
Depends on what cspire has in an year and a half. Either the sg3 or the photon q

1. The device has been out for around 1 month, i.e. delivered to customers. It began to reach customers at the beginning of August and it was introduced on June 25.
2. Custom recovery is almost finished according to the latest posts.
3. We have root.
So I would say that it has progressed nicely, kindly remember that Sony rolled out the C6802 on a limited amount of markets, the wide release will be with the C6833 this month and that is when the ROM development kicks off.
So you are wrong, unfortunately. Expecting a lot of ROMs for a device that has been rolled out in a limited way, i.e. excluding Europe etc and that has been out for a month, mostly as an import is a bit naive. Usually, it takes a broad release before those things kicks off.
Also notice that the Ultra is a niche device unlike the Nexus 4 which has a lot of "mainstream appeal" due to its size and price. So comparing the Ultra with the N 4 and complaining is apples and pencils.
I knew that the Ultra had a limited rollout when I bought it and that the first step would be root and that development would start in September when the C6833 reaches customers and limited action initially - so I have not even considered another device.
It is necessary to understand what it means to buy a new device that is only available in a few markets.

The LTE model (perhaps the other models too, dunno) has not had its release yet in many countries. When I got my dads htc one in my hands there was no kernels, a few roms, no mods ..nothing fun. About a month later the forum got a few kernels and roms but the developers where there so I rooted the phone it with revone in Linux mint and installed insertcoin.
And WOW, I just checked out the htc one forum ...it is filled with threads for various roms and mods now! Don't worry, It's coming sooner or later for the Z ultra
I usually wait for a while before I get a device in order for the ROMs and kernels to appear but the Ultra with its unique screen and size made it too hard - I saw now that the first recovery that works seems to be posted over at Original Android Development.

You deserved use N4.
This phone just release HSPA+ edition start from 1/August. Until now only one month. And only few selected country is out. The LTE version wise is not even get release.
Which country you stay where this phone already release 3 months?
You keep your N4 fella.
We all wish you many happy years with it.
Yes it's slow. I bought htc butterfly s and xperia z ultra at the same time. (They announced at the same countries)
...but it's ok just because we already have a news about Cyanogen ! What can be more cooler than that !!!

stfu and gtfo
you couldn't even afford it if your next choice is N4
Choosing between a 4.7" or a 6.44" device is odd, to put it mildly. To me, it isn't even a competition, the logical choice would be a Nexus 7 then.

Come trolling there is no ROM and else? You think devs have to develop for the device you own? You are the worst!! Happy you don't actually own a XZU, it make 1 useless troll far from our device.

I did not choose the N4 for its screen size or specs, i chose it because it allows me to flash custom roms and kernels. In singapore the LTE model is already released. Perhaps what you guys said is right, this thing has not yet seen a major worldwide release, ive seen the SZU in real life and its the best phone ever, im able to fit 2 S2s on it so perhaps in a few months when customs are available ill purchase one, but for now? Nah
Are you kidding?? LOL.. The official availability is September worldwide dude!

It's a snapdragon 800 device, and it's been a real pain in the ass the last couple of days to try and find a method to manually compile boot.img etc.
- We won't be able to start kernel development before I finished this (I probably have once I get a file I requested from Kali or bin4ry)
- second, setting up a device tree for a complete new board like MSM8974 which has changes from Qualcomm isn't easy!
Just have some patience and don't blame the devs, we are doing whatever we can to provide stock image with recovery etc at the moment
Dont warrant yourself because of such a fool. He'll be one of the idiots who blame you then why vou've spend the 2 mins for this post, and not for pushing your dev work forward.
They should stop whining, and do it better on their own or get the hell out of here.
Roms are not about clients, contracts and payed work, so for everybody it should be more then natural to cherish the efforts in it.
Keep up the good work, and don't feel the comments of useless retards as a judgement of your dev-work.
Since the Z3V is on its way we should have a place to discuss news and rumors for us VZW users. I for one am really looking forward to getting this phone. I own a PS4 so remote play is a huge plus.
When do you think it will release?
How much do u think it will cost on and off contract?
Will it be fully unlockable? (AOSP/CM?)
Keep it clean guys, let's not make this a comparison to other phones thread.

good luck lol
T-mobile's been generally nice with unlocked bootloaders, but their Z1s variant is bootloader locked and they refuse to unlock it
http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/70666
I am also looking forward to the Z3V. It was about time for a Soy phone on Verizon.
PCMag mentioned that it is supposed to have wireless charging and it should have support for VoLTE,
I am pretty sure that it will go on sale sometimes in October.
When the Z1s released on T-Mobile it was $599 to $650 off contract but I think that Z3v will const more becuse Verizon is greedy.
$699 is my guess.
Verizon phones are never unlocked so I don't think that Z3V is going to be unlocked.
Yeah its such a shame we can't get unlocked phones on VZW. Its the main reason I won't buy another Sammy phone. I think the remote play will make up for it though. Let's try to keep any info that comes along here. I sure hope the phone comes out before the end of October in the US

Nobody knows what it's going to look like because it hasn't even been officially announced for Verizon yet.
It won't look like that render. If you really believe that, you are kidding yourself.
Then again, Verizon couldn't possibly be that horrible. Or could they?

Never ever assume things couldn't possibly go downhill from where they are. Fate will attempt to prove you wrong out of pure spite.

of course it won't look exactly like that, but my point is that it will likely have some Verizon branding on the outside. it's been known vz likes to slap on their logos on anywhere possible. iirc even on some of their other android phones they have reload their own verizon styled SMS client.. heck, they even decided to tack on a "V" on the phone model.. Z3V .. does not justify reason to not get the phone, but just pointing it out
I got an email today allowing me to pre register. The email only had the TMo logo in it but no sign of VZW. Hope to get more info soon.
I haven't decided on my next phone yet, but the Z3V is definitely on my radar. Most of my rooting experience so far has been with Samsung devices and my current primary phone is a rooted/ROM'ed Note2. I recently bought a couple of Xperia Plays off of eBay (mainly to play games), and I've enjoyed learning about flastool, ftf's, etc... Even though it's an older phone, I'm still impressed with the Xperia Play's overall quality and I like how it seems that Sony is pretty supportive of Android development. If the Z3V allows the bootloader to be unlocked, then I may take the plunge and get one.

I'm in the same boat...currently I have a VZW Note 2 on BeansROM. Thought I was a lock to go to the Note 4 but it might be a hair too big...plus the S5 was locked down tight for a long time so I am guessing the N4 will be too. I can probably live without ROMs but I want root.
The early reviews, especially around real world battery life have got me thinking Z3.

Yeah, it'll either be a new moto x or z3v for me... Assuming the rumors about it coming to Verizon are true, at least. Fingers crossed!
Yeah...it's this or the Turbo for me.
Really want this though for the remote play and build quality.
Z3v confirmed from Verizon rep
Received confirmation today from my Verizon rep that the Z3 is definitely coming. Their Sony rep came in today and said news coming very soon.
