I saw the post for these updates over at the XZ forum. I installed them manually on it but have been waiting since to get the notification on my Ultra.
I received the latest update for my phone today but still nothing about the media apps. Any else?

Hi there,
I would like to skip the latest update, coz' I don't see any real improvement there. How can I hide or disable the constant notifaction icon?
I am rooted, of course.
Love,
D.
Even if you don't see any benefit, there are often bug fixes and security fixes inn a new release. So I take the opposite view, if an official update does not break or remove some needed functionality I install the latest version.
Can't you download the update then just not install it? Would that get rid of the notification?

Nope
Downloaded it last night, (to the phone, OTA), but did not install it. Went to bed, got up the next morning and the notification was still there.
Yeah, you are probably right. Took the plunge yesterday and it took me the whole day to reinstall the apps and settings. First thing I did afterwards: Got Titanium Backup ;-)
Btw: GingerBreak works like a charm
So like, had my Bolt since day one, and well, I started having issues with my text messages just yesterday. I hear the recent OTA fixes these issues. So, can I by any chance, update my phone and keep my root?
Can someone give me some details. Im on a Mac, if it matters.
If you want to update your phone I would use the updates you find here on the forum. They are designed to retain root.
Read: Developer Section.
I keep getting the pop-up notification from Device Management about the update for my SGS2. Currently, I'm running stock with the launch version (I777UCKH7), rooted with my own tweaks. I'd rather not bother with an incremental update and just keep things the way they are for now (if it ain't broke, don't fix it) until ICS comes along...
Can I disable the check/notification? It's getting really annoying to have to hit it several times per day.
I know this isn't the answer you are looking for, and maybe someone knows how to do that exactly...
I would say go for the update... I don't believe anyone has had any problems with it. Me personally: I tried to update but it gave an error and wouldn't install, and now I don't get the notification anymore even though I didn't "really" update. My S2 is rooted with most junk removed via Titanium Backup, but stock rom and modem.
I totally forgot to come back with an update. I followed your advice and accepted the next time it asked if I wanted to update. It began, then said that I was already up to date. Hasn't bothered me again since then. Odd.
I keep getting told an update is available on the live tile, but when I go into the marketplace nothing is there! Or I get told there's 3 updates, but there's actually 2.
Might be a coincidence but it's been happening since I updated to the 12070 firmware via the cab sender. Although hard to see how low level code would affect it.
Is anyone else getting this?
I've been notified of updates with the marketplace title and haven't had any issues since updating via cab sender. I used it on a newly flashed 11501 firmware.
Hmmm I must have a rogue app causing it.
It's doing it repeatedly. Updates work fine, it's just the notification count that's wrong.
Since updating to 4.4.4, apps update through Update Center are very slow. what do I mean? for example an update was rolling out for what's new since 11/18 and I got it few days ago (2 maybe 3)
Also a new update for Walkman and the Weather App are rolling out and still didn't get any notification to update.
Any one experiencing the same thing?
It's normal.
OTA is always slow comparing to pc update on every manufacturer.

Usually, when I had the Xperia Z running 4.4.4, if an update is rolling out the morning, I got the notification to update
Depends, sony roll out update but not for every phone, every version of phone, android version of phone at same time.
So sometimes it cant happen you get it 1 sec after rollout, sometimes you need to wait one weak till update hit your system requitments.
My update center doesn't even list any updated apps since the 23.0.1.A.0.167 update??
Is this normal?

It is, update didn't hit your phone version and/or firmware version.
