On my galaxy s2 desktop i have orphan icons. They are gray and named as the original program
that reside ?(and still exist) on a different folder.
I. am looking for a program or a way to delete them.
(If you do delete the ORIGINAL program deletes too)
2. Or i like to develop my own program so how do i ?
(i do develop with Android)
3. The above WITHOUT rooting if possible
On stock TW Rom, long press on the respective icon and drag to the trash can that appears on top of the screen.

hello, i've got the htc hd2. overall i'm satisfied. but i've seen at a friends iphone that instead of having all the quick links out in the open, he has icons of their libraries such as: programs, games, extra, news and more. once he presses a library it opens another window bellow it and he can select the prog he wants to lunch. i beleive if this is somehow available in the hd2, maybe through cookies editor or something like that, it would be great - time saving, organized, easy to use...
does anyone know of this feature in the iphone? is it a 3rd party app or some setting? is it possible to be activated or installed on the hd2?
thanks guys.
guy.

u can create subfolder in your /windows/startup folder and move there your start menu items
but i can't create those subfolders as quick links. it's as i would go and start file expolrer and look for the app i want, only in subfolders. i would like to have subfolders as quicklins...

yes u can, if u have a powerful file manager like resco explorer (not free) or any other free one around
check here and here, not perfect eye-candy, but works
the "latest" iOS feature of grouping in folders is a laughable attempt by apple to copy what windows mobile has had for AGES!
the iphone does not have a home screen. instead, it just throws all your program shortcuts on the home screen. the equivalent of this is the windows mobile "start" menu. one tap and you get the start menu to show off to your iphone pals.
the windows mobile "start" menu is more powerful because it offers n-level nesting and unlimited number of links within a "group" (lets call them folders because thats the correct windows mobile term!). finally, it offers mixing links and folders within a folder! not sure the iphone can do that.
as stated above, use a powerful file manager to create folders under your start menu, give them icons, and organize existing links under these new folders. add more than 12 links AND folders to a folder and throw that in your iphone pal's face!
ok. i like what you're saying... however, i am using the cookies home tab editor (i think that's the name) and i've removed everything (clock, tasks, calender...) from the home screen so i can have a picture of my beautiful wife and 4 icons of quick links at the bottom (not including the sliding bar of the windows mobile). so as a resault of this if i had folders on the main home screen i'd needed 4, the most important and that's it. and i have to tell you, i hardly use the START button. so, i'm still looking for something to help me place folders and not link to programs on my hd2's home screen.

there is a way: You have to put a .lnk in that folder and then it will show up on quicklinks for cht.
You can pm watcher64. He made one for me for a movies folder
What does this do? Needs to be installed? Bionox V...thanks!

framework-res.apk is the visual template for your phone's OS. It is not a universal app, it is typically different for each firmware/ROM. When you hear the words "theme" or "theming", its referring to changes made to framework-res.apk. It consists of a bunch of .pngs and .xmls that dictate your OS's appearance (i.e. notifications bar, progress bar, pulldown menu, etc.).
Your phone WILL NOT operate without this, nor will it operate if you make improper changes to your framework (i.e. install a theme that isnt compatible with a certain ROM). It does not need to be installed, because you already have it, otherwise your phone would not even turn on.
Cool. The reason I was asking is because I was wanting to change done png's. (specifically the color of the xda app icon) I wanted blue instead of orange. I'm just trying to figure out how to do this.

"some" png's

what you will have to do is extract the apk. you can use bitzipper or appmanager. (i would suggest bitzipper for simple .png edits, apk manager can be kind of buggy). simply open the .apk with bitzipper.....drag the "res" folder out onto your desktop. find the .png you want to edit. edit it. then drag the "res" folder back into framework-res.apk (it will automatically compress it for you.
once you make all of your changes, you will need to resign the app since its not a system app. you do this by first deleting the "meta-inf" folder. then you need to resign using any resigning tool.....i use this.......once you successfully sign it you can reinstall
Is there any solution? It's frustrating. I want ABC arrangement, but when I install some new game and its name starts eg from A, I have to get every app outside of the folder, to the app drawer, then RE-arrange the apps by name. So, please help. ;-;
BUMP people? Noone? Or noone cares?
Do you mean when you click on applications and the apps are all spread out on different pages?
If so just click the call button on your phone and select list view and your apps will be in alphabetical order.
Also i recommend this app i have it myself
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.abcOrganizer&hl=en
don't folders have a list alphabetically setting?
For me, Appzorter Lite has proven to be the best. It's primary job is to alphabetically sort the apps on the launcher, but if you go into settings you can also have it arrange the apps inside your folders. It can also fill out gaps if you choose to manually move some applications to another page on the launcher. Very nice app!
I mean this:
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/6716/sc20110821015013.png
To arrange the apps inside the folders by name(a-z). I tried the Appzorter, but it screwed my other apps inside Touchwiz's appdrawer. I only want it for folders.
I realised after some trial and error that you need to use Appzorter's sort as well as fill gaps features, then restart the phone. I believe that should work. I don't think there's an app or drawer that allows you to add folders and only sort apps within the folders.

Folder Organizer is the app you want.
Anyway to open say a text file or folder directly from the main screen? I'm sick of having to open up my file manager and navigate though my folders to open up a file I use frequently. Like on a PC creating shortcuts on your desktop.

The best thing I got is to make a dropbox if yu dont aalready have one, then put the folder you use the most in dropbox then when yur on yur home go to shortcut, dropbox folder? That's all I got? Lol

I'm using the pc desktop shortcut as an example. Just wanting to know if there is a way I can create a link to a file on my phones memory to my home screen.

Good question. I see you can create a new folder on the home screen, but like you I don't see a way to make a shortcut to an existing folder.
I use an app called Power Strip and put all my "frequently used apps and files" in there.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mkuaW50dWl0aXQuYW5kcm9pZC5wLnBvd2Vyc3RyaXAiXQ..
I like it..works for me.
I haven't figured it out with TouchWiz, but I use ADW Launcher EX and when you long press the home screen it gives the option to add a shortcut. You can add shortcuts to files that way.
Go google play and download anycut app.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
Running Rooted. HyperdriveOTA ROM (Love it BTW). CWM.
Wanted to change the App Drawer Button to finalize my minimal theme. Also need to remove the "APPS" label. Picture Attached. I can flash this or edit system files. Not picky.
Wanted to do a few status bar tweaks as well, but the Xposed Framework needs to be set up for Verizon before I attempt it (unless there is a better way). Also wouldn't mind changing the page dots to something else. Any advice for these would be appreciated.
I am not a fan of launchers coming from iPhone/Dreamboard. Much rather mod the ROM directly and nandroid it up.
Thanks in advance!
Hi there,
Have done on my note 1. If it's not working on your s4 since it is 4.2.2 than just ignore my post.
The file you'll need is seclauncher2.apk in system\app
1. Use 7-zip to archive the file
2. Look in res\drawable folders. In my case res\drawable-xhdpi
3. Search for ic_allapps.png & ic_allapps_pressed.png
4. Replace the files with 1 or 2 different png(s) you like. ic_allapps_pressed.png will show another icon when you press the apps drawer button(if you replace both icons with 2 different png(s))
5. Push back into system\app & reboot
Maybe the icons are placed in other drawable folder. So you'll have to search a bit.
To search it easily, copy all the files in each of the drawable folder to normal folder so that you can thumbnail view. The ones look like your apps drawer button should be the ones you looking for.
Hope that give you some hints.
See my screenshot.
They are in drawable-xhdpi
