I just picked up a Lenovo P780, 1.2ghz quad core. Actually the phone performs reasonably well but I want to get it rooted and have some fun. I know it's a relatively new phone but has anyone done it yet?

Yes just rooted (using Frameroot 1.6.1) after seeing the link above.

YAY! Already rooted my p780 with framaroot, as i think one of the simplest way to do it..
im also using framaroot 1.6.1.
- just copy framaroot.apk to your sd card
- open your file manager on your phone, select framaroot
- installation page appear >> select "superuser" >> select "boromir"
- now your phone rooted!! then RESTART your phone
- the good thing with framaroot is, you can unroot using framaroot followong the installation procuders
i have 1 question.
while everything looks fine (ya, except for the WIFI), last night i charge the phone. Later when i checked, seem it keep rebooting at the logo. managed to go to the TWRP recovery mode - when i go to factory reset, it says
E: unable to mount "/data"
E: unable to mount "/emmc"
E: unable to mount internal storage
what should i do?

Ok i have a phone that was given to me buy a friend to root
i have tried every tool i could find on this site to try root it and others such as one click root
all of them say the phone is all ready rooted but i have checked and dont have root access to the phone
the make of the phone is alps i9300 samsung s3 clone it is MT6575 on an s880 board it sort of has a recovery just a triangle with no options
it is running android version 4.3.0
the kernal is 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #`1
with a baseband version of : MAUI.11AMD.50.SP.V28
build number is : BOAT.MP.S880.A.V14
hardware version is : S880_MB_V1.0
any help on how to root this thing would be warmly welcomed i have tried everything all so if anyone knows of custom roms as the one thats on it is a bit ****ty

but i cant run updates from sd cars as wen iu do it say signiture verification failed

Umm you can download CWM Recovery for your device from HERE
Then press "Install Zip From SD Card" in Stock Recovery, and you will get into CWM Recovery by installing that zip.
After that flash the zip I gave you, and there will be no Signature Verification problems (It is a typical problem for Stock Recovery, no worries). By default, CWM should have Signature Verification disabled, but if it isn't you can easily disable it in the menu.

yes i am on 3e but wen i try the first file i get invalid OTA package error so dont know whats wrong there
what do i do with the clock work mod file do i do the same and launch from 3e menu

You can root this by using Ubuntu.
1. adb devices , to check for connected device
2. adb root , to gain root
3. adb shell, to check if you get root sign #. then exit
4 load SuperuserAndFullBackup.zip and extract to any folder. then
5. use adb push to push all files in /system/* to it destination
6. adb shell go into device
7. chown and chmod like permission in updater-script.

:fingers-crossed: The absolute best rooting package I’ve found is CF Root 6.4 (although I know Chainfire isn’t backing or updating anymore (it’s there’s)), It will root every Galaxy S3 i9300 firmware there is, well every firmware update that I’ve put on my phone including custom ROMS and there have been many. It will install SU App, and CWM recovery (albeit an older version) and does it EVERY TIME. It’s awesome. Being that it's a clone, who knows if it will work, anyways give it a go.
Quick ? How were you running Android 4.3 when it just came out 5 days ago & not even officially available for the S3. Just curious but correct me if i'm wrong
cf root wont work for it. It is not Samsung phone. it is just a clone cheap clone. I don't believe it is 4.3.

android 4.3 was installed on the phone wen i got it from the factory i did check it to and it is really android 4.3
sins this post i have rooted the phone very easy my self from adb with no need for tools or scripts and no need to reboot the phone untill it is rooted and ready
i am now looking for roms that may work with the phone
i have rooted my phone , but i can't find out any ROM for it. my phone is dual sim :crying:

i just want to clarify. you will flash that zip on the s3 right? cuz the file says its for galaxy s4g. i just want to clarify. and it wont brick the device right?

I root my phone using "FRAMAROOT" and its success but 1 day iformat my phone using hard reset VOL+ VOL- POWER ON and i WIFE the CATCH after that my phone is no longer ROOTED but the ICON of SUPERUSER is still there..i check the SYSTEM and i try to delete it using ROOT EXPLORER but its say's i need to root my phone first.. i try to root it again using FRAMAROOT but its always FAILED..i try also different procedure how to root android phone but no luck..so i deside to flash this phone so that is all back to the oginal settings..pls help me to solve my problem..thanks..

Hmm you have to root by CMD on Window...like samsung ways, install CWM than Flash zip file! Maybe it's only way for our fone, another could make it bricked..!! So , now try to root it again! The superuser icon just work if root permission have been edited!! If you restored all thing..maybe that icon is just an icon..so don't worry :laugh:

Guys, i use Micromax Funbook Pro i have a problem, i rooted my tab and after a long time, been 1 year IDK how but the SU binary file got deleted and i can't restore it also cuz it's in the System folder and root is needed to access it and i can't re-root or un-root my tab also so can anybody tell me a solution to this problem :crying:

If you have SU binary, then you can put it in its place using Aroma File Manager from recovery. Use V1.80 or V1.90
Root NOT required
If this doesn't work (less than 1% chance) then make a backup, flash stock ROM and root again and restore backup.

When i try to install it from boot manager or whatever it's called which is activated by pressing volume up and power key, it says signature not verified and aborts :'(
Guys I was trying to root my bro's GS3 with odin.. the flashing went perfect, infact there was a SuperSU and CWM app installed too, but when i tired to open the app it was showing that SU bianary needs to be updated..
I even updated the SuperSU from the Play store but was getting the same error essentially.. also tried the Superuser FIxer app from PS but it also stuck at

I tried flashing the SuperSU 1.51 .zip from the recovery mode by placing it in internal memory but to my surprise the file path of the internal memory was not visible and when i inserted a sdcard and copied the file to it and then tried to flash it thru recovery, it was successfull but got a few erros , something like who file not successful(will try again and post exact same thing in by tomorrow)
in the meanwhile can anybody help me? plz its urgent..

If you have philz then there is an option tu reroot it in philz settings... Do that and install supersu from play store and it would adj to update binaries just press normal... Done...
Or the other way is supersu1.93 I'd the latest search fit it's thread download zip and flash through recovery...

I do not think your ROM is rooted properly. Try to download some software from play store to check whether it is rooted or not.
If not rooted then you have to google and search the rooting process. You have to use computer ODIN to flash and root your phone.

it isnt rooted.. cause none of the app can acquire the root permission.. thought the SU app is still there.. my question right nw is shall i reflash the same file?

Having SU app does not mean your phone is rooted. Thats just an front end to provide you root access. Your phone has to be properly rooted.

ya i know its not rooted as i cant get the root access, my question is that shall i directly try to reflash thru odin?
Do you have a custom recovery? Did you flash cf-auto root? Philz touch is a custom recovery based on cwm. Flash that with odin, go to philz settings and then re-root system.

The simplest place to start is a root checker app (just stick root checker into play store). If it says that you don't have root then you don't simple as that. In which case use CF-AutoRoot program on your pc which will flash both a Custom Recovery (clockworkmod) as well as root... after that, the world is your oyster...
The root checking app is the simplest way to check if you have root though if you're new to stuff like this.

I am sure you were using stock, based on the OP. Get the custom and have a go. If you flash auto root it will give you stock recovery. You need to check philz or cwm threads for the odin flashables.
My phone came rooted. I cannot remember doing anything wrong but one day, I discovered that the root has gone and anytime I tried to open supersu, I get "There is no SU binary installed, and Supersu cannot install it. This is a problem!" My phone Build num: P780_s136_140306. I have tried to flash through recovery mode the update-supersu-v2.45.zip file but i keep getting installation aborted and error. I need to get my root back and I need assistance. Thank you

Hi. Your phone came reseted by some reason ! to root your phone try framaroot 1.9.3! it should work !
Copy framaroot on your internal memory or sdcard! install ! choose one of that scripts and voila! you should have root !

Thanks for the response. I have already tried to root again with framaroot but it did not solve the issue. I have uninstalled supersu update, unrooted, restarted phone and root again but it did not solve the issue. I have also cleared cache from recovery mode and also done a factory reset before rerooting, yet the issue persists.
