I've downloaded the "app.zip" from the link in this thread. I extracted the files and pulled out FMRadio.apk and FMRadio.odex. I placed them in the system directory, set the permissions, and rebooted. Unfortunately, the FM Radio app does not show up. I've cleared cache and Davlik with the same results. Can someone help me out and tell me what I'm doing wrong? Rooted P769 running v20F. Thanks.

By system directory you mean system/app right?

That's not how you place apps in the system. What you have to do is change the permissions first then place both files at the same time in \system\app folder. Once that is done you should be able to reboot and viola.

I'm not following you. The files have to be somewhere on the system partition to change permissions, right? If not in /system/app, where do I place the files to change the permissions?
If you are using terminal then I understand what you are saying but you need to download a file manager, I use root explorer. Place the app anywhere on your system just not in app. Change permissions then move it to system partition.

does this work on LG-P769
i tried the exact steps mentioned on the T-mobile LG optimus L9. (LG-P769)
I have rooted this phone.
used "root browser" app to move the files around.
No sucess..
the files sit on fmradio.apk and fmradio.odex and the permission are changed to rw-r-r
However, when i reboot the phone, I dont see any FM radio on the phone.
I then went into the /system/app folder and tried to install the .apk and I get a message " application not installed"

I think you may be right. I've tried this multiple times with three different file managers (Solid Explorer, Root Browser, and ES) with no luck. I thought it would install regardless and if there's no FM tuner, it just wouldn't work.
It looks like we don't know if our device has an FM radio or not. GSM arena says the the p760 does have an FM radio chip, but for the p769 it says "TBD" which means "to be disclosed". But if the phone doesn't come stock with an FM radio app it probably doesn't.

The P768 definitely has a radio chip, I used the radio on stock V20A South Africa and it worked, but now with CM10 there is no radio app
P769 does not have FM radio

I have P760 and tried to do the same thing and get the same results. No fm app in app drawer. Does "owner" and "group" setting make any difference? I'm running cm 10.1.3. I got the fm .apk and .odex from my cwm backup (stock jellybean 4.1.2).

Yup that has yet to work for me.
You also have to modify the permissions, won't work if you don't. I did it today and it works fine. Uninstall the current version then download it from the market. Copy over with root explorer and modify the permissions. You can search XDA for the same instructions.

Yeah I have modified the permissions. In fact, here's the detailed list of steps that I have taken. This is really p*ssing me off, and I have no idea why I'm the only one having this problem.
I have:
1. started by doing a CW cache wipe, dalvik, wipe, & system wipe
2. flashed V4 of "In Paris" ROM
3. restored previous apps using Titanium
4. flashed the Desktop UA mod from Task650
5. removed the previous installation of Flash 11 via Titanium
6. rebooted
7. redownloaded Flash 11 from the Market
8. rebooted again (just for good measure)
5. went in using Root Explorer, found and renamed the libflashplayer.so file to libflashplayer.so.bak
10. copied and pasted the hacked libflashplayer.so file into that same folder
11. changed the permissions to "all" for Read, only "owner" for Write, and "all" for Execute
12. rebooted
I have owner and group checked under write, I don't know if that will do the trick or not.

Tried installing google music from market and get cc. Tried clearing cache and dads. No luck. Running snowball from yesterday morning. Any other ideas? When I ran zergy, it worked fine.
Book tablet rooted with snowball. Mod.
I have the same issue, it´s probably one of the CM7 librarys that corresponds with the actual system rom which causes the google music error.
Do you know if there is a solution? Old version etc...?
Did you try moving it from data/app to system/app and fixing permissions?
Any update on this? Its the only issue I am having. The app opens fine for me but FC's when I try to play a song. Like OP said, Music worked under indirect's method but not under snowball.

I am not sure how to do move it. Are there installed files to move or do you move the .apk and then install from the other location?
Thanks,

Just a move of the apk its like "cut & paste" nothing else once pasted you can reboot if you want don't think its necessary and check if it still FC. Report back.
Use root explorer or ES file explorer to move it to /system/app/ you need to change to r/w (read and write) instead of r/o then you can successfuly paste the .apk

My data/app folder is empty. I don't find the musicc apk anywhere as I look around anywhere else including sys/app. Sorry, apparently I am lame.
I tried moving it from data/app to system/app and fixing permissions, still getting FC's on trying to play a song. Any other suggestions?
Hi, can you please help me and tell me what I am doing wrong?
You see, using Root Explorer, I was able to remove the browser.apk (by moving to sd card) from /system/app, then got a quickics.apk, renamed it as browser.apk, then placed it unto /system/app, then changed the permission accordingly...
When I rebooted the phone, Android Starting App occurs but when I tap it to open, it force closes on me...
What am I doing wrong? or for that matter, is what I did or intention possible?

yes.. I am on ICS custom rom.. i just happen to like the quick ics browser more than the browser included in the custom rom.. thus I did that...
when I just left the stock browser and installed quick, there was no problem.. the problem just occurred when I tried replacing the stock browser...
i know this is not really "life or death" for me but for some reason, it just bothers me to have an app in my app list that I do not use... hehehe
Buddy dont replace the browser.apk just delete it and put quickics.apk on system/app with proper permission. Restart your device.hope it will work

No just copy it, fix permissions in root explorer and reboot. But don't rename it to browser.apk. Reboot and normally it should work?!
Hmm okay that's strange, are you using the latest version? Maybe delete it again, download it from playstore, install it and make it to a system app using titanium backup (there should be an option on titanium backup if the app is installed). Look if that maybe solves the problem
You should not replace the stock android browser.apk as it is integrated into the system and removing it or replacing it will probably result in force closures and your system might become unstable.
Just add the quickics.apk reboot into clockworkmod and select advanced and select fix permissions. No need to change permissions via root explorer if you have clockworkmod.
And Press thanks if I've helped you!

If it works as a non system app in your phone then it should work perfectly normal as a system app provided the permissions are set right and the stock browser isn't removed . I don't know where you are going wrong
Just to be correct about the permission part, The permission has to be set as ,

Hi Guys, This is my first thread here. I'm new to Android and flashing custom ROM's. I've recently bought Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 (International version). I used Siyah kernel for Dual-Booting FoxHound along with Stock ROM. I really liked FoxHound because of improved performance, beats audio etc. I've decided to flash FoxHound as only ROM on my device but I fear that it will also remove the stock samsung apps which I really find useful.

Is there any way to get these apps on FoxHound? Sorry I couldn't find any similar post here that's why I'm asking
You could use root explorer, copy them to your sdcard and install on your new rom. Should work fine if they don't have any other dependancies.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
you need to copy them to /system/app
as long as it's a Sammy ROM, it should work
I tried that but when I copy SMemo files to system/apps using root explorer it says that the files are copied successfully but they don't... Any solution for this I guess it has something to do with the permissions

The SMemo.apk's permissions are (rw-rw-r) and to move it to system/apps the permissions should be (rw-r-r). When I change the permissions they still look unchanged...
Are you sure you've given root access to root explorer...try changing the permissions with chmod command.

I was saying that launching the apk manually won't install it.
Try clearing its data and make sure it's from the same firmware version

I get this error when I try to download Pandora from the market. I searched how to fix it but nothing works for me. One of the solutions was to go to the root folder then data/data to delete the left over data from the phone But it's empty. Any help would be appreciated. I transferred a bunch of stuff over from my old phone so I think I brought over some data too.
Any update on this??
Delete the entire folder if you can that normally fixes it for me. Also try restarting the phone, that might work too.

Are you rooted? Does this error only happen for certain apps or all apps? If it's for certain apps you might want to find any files that are used by the app and delete them, on both internal and external storage.
I normally fixed this on my s3 by deleting the app folder in /data/data but I don't think you can do that without being rooted.
Yes im rooted I was using pandora I deleted but when trying to install the new version the error appear, and the phone is running on art..and yes I enter android/data but no folder associated with pandora.

Not android/data but /data/data from root. It's in there that you have to delete the folder associated with Pandora. You need some sort of file manager that can go into that area, I use ES file manager but you can use whatever app you want.
Thanks for your help, I use ES file but inthe data/ data there in no folder..I'm trying to upload a screenshot but I cant
