I have the following process AudioOut_3 eating my battery, please any idea what it could be?
Rationale: AudioOut is used to play notification and system sounds.
Know actions: From the home screen... Menu -> Sounds -> uncheck "Touch Sounds", uncheck "Screen lock Sounds"
Known conditions of occurence: Each time the screen is touched or locked.

Is there a way to Disable the Sony UpdateCenter service, I have not used or activated it at all, it's eating my battery
Check if you can disable it from Settings -> Apps -> All -> Sony Update Center
If you can't disable it, it doesn't mean that you won't be able to do so in the future. If you get root, then it's nothing more than navigating to system/app and deleting the APK from there.
I have this Android Backup eating my battery, I have it disable from Backup & Reset (Backup My Data). Yesterday I installed Helium Backup (former Carbon Backup) and I read somewhere that it could have been a reason for the backup and I already un-installed it, but the backup is still there. I've also read that Helium Desktop tool did enable backup at the ADB service level, how can I disable that?, thanks

I already disabled everything on Settings. I know as soon as I get root I will go to Titanium Backup and Disable it.

I would think that it has something to do with syncing (*sync*_com.sonyericsson.updatecenter.provider_account). Do you have a Sony account? Does Sony have an App Store on the device?

I do not have a Sony Account and I have not setup any Sony store on the phone.
Any idea how can I solved the Backup issue posted above?

Do you have automatic backup enabled? Settings -> Backup & Reset -> Back up my data
It's hard to tell what it might be, since you're where you are, and i'm here

I've been doing some research and it seems related to the Android "Backup My Data" service

In this thread I would like to gather usually asked question. Feel freely to add more. And I will add more too. Any suggestion or correction welcome. Here we go.
Q: I want to flash my phone to other ROM. What should I do?
A: You could refer to this post about X10 Flash Tool by Bin4ry and list of the ROM from here by jerpelea
Q: I want to flash my phone but don't want to loose my apps and settings
A: Just don't include userdata.sin when flash. Thanks to MarylandCookie
Q: I restore my contacts using stock Backup and Restore Apps but I can't see my contacts in the phonebook.
A: The apps restore the contacts under your Google accounts. You could show your Google contacts by Clicking three people icon at the top left of your phonebook and enable it from there.
You should check about Social Phonebook too.
Q: My market keep crashing when download apps. What should I do?
A: Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Find your market apps -> Clear cache (if any) -> Uninstall updates
Q: I want to remove ads from apps. What should I do?
A: IMO, just let it be. That's what make so many android apps free.
Q: I need to root my X10. What should I do?
A: Use z4root. Refer to this post by MarylandCookie for detail
Q: I couldn't find Assisted GPS option. Where is it?
A: Settings-> Location and Security -> Use wireless networks
Q: Where is the Auto Brightness?
A: Brightness except 0 and 100 IS auto brightness just work different way. Or you could try using Spare Part apps from the market
Q: I want a longer battery life what should I do?
A: 1. Turn off GPS : Settings-> Location and Security -> Uncheck Use GPS Satellites
2. Turn off Wireless Networks : Settings-> Location and Security -> Uncheck Use Wireless Networks
3. Use home launcher replacement such as ADW Launcher by anderwerb, Launcher Pro, HelixLauncher, etc
4. Make your phone in airplane mode after 23:00. You could automated doing this by using Timerrific apps
5. Turn off your Autosync : Settings-> Accounts & sync -> Uncheck Auto-sync
6. Turn off/make a longer interval of your update. Such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. Usually there is an option for that inside the apps itself
7. DO NOT Use AUTO Killer apps. Use a MANUAL Task Manager. Kill the apps manually when you feel want to do it. Do not need to do it automatically or often though
8. If you have unstable 3G networks, change your phone to GSM Only : Settings -> Wireless and network -> Mobile Network -> Network Mode -> Choose GSM only. Switch to 3G network/WCDMA when you need it and don't forget to switch back, because unstable signal could drain your battery
Q: I want to optimize my X10. What should I do?
A: 1. You could applied Jit. You could find it from here by ttxdragon or here by jerpelea
(I just enable Jit and manually delete app I don't want. Well I keep Timescape and MediaScape ^_^ )
2. In my observation, no need to change the Heap Size, because 24 is the best value fit for our X10. Otherwise is just a placebo effect. Even I experience have to click little apps more than one to run it when I'm in 32.
Q: I don't what apps are safe to delete. What should I do?
A: You could try to see the list here by exekias
Q: I wrongfully deleted my system app. What should I do?
A: You surelly want to try to install it again from here by XperiaX10iUser
Q: I cannot receive SMS when there is Low on Space notification
A: Probably Solution : Use Titanium Backup and choose Clean Dalvik Cache. Haven't have time to try it yet.
Q: I want 3D Gallery. What should I do?
A: Use ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro (I only tried those launcher) and add Custom Shortcut, Choose Activity, and you will Find Gallery from the list. That's is your 3D Gallery
Q: I want hidden Music app. What Should I do?
A: Use the same method as above only choose Music this time. IMO it's not that great, as matter of fact I deleted the "hidden" Music app. ^_^
Q: I'm bored with the look of my phone. What you need is theme.
A: 1. Read _calum_ theme reference
2. XperiaX10iUser's theme
3. Theme from dk2000zx
4. Elemental theme from Mr_Element
5. Or you could just go to this section. There are plenty of them. ^^
Q: I want 2.2 for my X10.
A: There is no official announcement about it.
Q: I still want 2.2 for my X10.
A: Well you could just try it from this thread
Q: Ouch I forgot to bring my cable. My cable is missing. My cable is broken. I need to access my phone using ADB. What should I do?
A: You could try using ADB Wireless
Q: Is there any recovery menu for X10?
A: Try to see this thread

R2R Client is for the APN to receive at beginning to get Internet Access. When you delete Contact Details you cant see Details of your Contacts anymore so dont do it!! Status Switch is a Widget can be deleted. Diagnostic Tool and SEMCCheckin are 2 Diagnostic Tools but dont know what happen if you delete it.
Software Update
Sony Ericsson Sync
Sony Ericsson Sync Client Wizard
Is another that keeps popping up!
SE Sync you can delete if you dont Sync with SE. Dont delete Softwareupdate go to Prefences and then Phone Info then Softwareupdate and then uncheck Automatic Search then it shouldnt be as Service in Background. But if you delete it you cant do OTA Updates anymore.
This can be used as a reference - http://ccalonnec.fr/wiki/index.php?title=SE_Xperia_X10_:_list_of_default_apps_and_how_to_remove_them

Hi, sometimes doing updates via OTA can keep your phone rooted unlike the SEUS update...
For Sony Ericsson Sync why they keep it in the last update, since december 30 2011 the service don't work anymore ?
Edit : oops didn't see that the last post was from dec 2010, sorry.
Hello, I'm Italian so my English is not very good.
Please I would like to ask you if somebody can help me with this problem.
I have a GT-i9100 with Andorid 2.3.3. The device is not rooted and I kept the original software from the day i bought the phone.
When I turn on my phone I have this error message looping:
"The application LogsProvider (com.sec.android.provider.LogsProvider process)has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
And, if I stay on the home screen, also:
"The application TwLauncher (com.sec.android.app.twlauncher process)has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
And occasionally I also get some others Force Closure, as:
Android process.media
Task Provider (process com. Android.providers)
Message (process com.android.mms)
IM (com.sec.android.im process)
AP Mobile (com.sec.android.widgetapp.apnews process)
Social Hub (com.seven.Z7 process)
Somebody told me that if I do a factory reset I'll probably solve the problem.
But this is what I am writing: since I am disable, sometimes I don't write by hand and I record voice recordings (with the standard voice recorder of the phone). I have some very important data on the phone and since they were recent I have no backup.
There are mainly voice recording (took with the standard recorder app) and some notes I took with an app called Note Everything that I would not like to lose.
Is there a way of saving this data?
UPDATE: Here a video of the problem:
Some additional information:
- the phone also display the icon of "memory almost full". So I can't install from the computer version of google play another launcher, because it would probably not install for no memory
- the phone also crashes after few minutes (sometimes soon, sometimes later)
- when I turn on again the phone, it is allways on the same home screen (I have 8 desktop home screen, it is always on the fifth)
- I have no SD card
- I could go on settings --> applications --> manage applications --> LogsProvider --> Clear data. The error of "LogsProvider" stops appearing, but if the phone crashes next time it returns, and if the phone does not chrash, if I go on home screen I still have all the others errors
- I could go on settings --> applications --> manage applications --> and I deleted some apps. When I turn off and on again the phone, the apps looks again there
- If i connect the phone with the computer with usb, Kies keeps telling "connecting"
- If I put the phone in Debug Mode, or in USB Mode, in My Computer I can see for some seconds the icon of the mass storage device (for example "K:"), but If I try to open it on my computer, I have an error like "the device is not ready", or the icon disappear
Thank you very very much in advance.
There are many apps to backup your data, try the below app to backup your apps data, you can later restore it after a factory reset.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.appbackup&feature=search_result
and regarding the voice recording. IF you simply record the voice and play it via any music explorer, then it would be saved in your internal sd and it will be safe after a factory reset.
+1 on bala.....well i had this prblm on my sgs1 and i dint do a backup but simply factory reset an for few weeks the phone was fine but again it started ..but then i flashd the same rom using odin an tht has a fix uptill now....cheerz
Thank bala_gamer and thanks rocky23, but unfortunately it looks like I can't install this app nor neither other app because of two reasons:
1) I can't access to the Google Play Store, because I don't have a desktop shortuit, and if I try to go passing through the apps page Twlauncher crashes and returns to the desktop
2) As I told in the post, phone says "memory almost full" so I can't install other apps
Any other ways of saving this data?
PS: As for the voice recording, good to know that with a factory reset they will probably be safe, thanks!
Since you're not rooted, I can't see any way you can fix this without losing your data.
My daughter is also limited to voice-only stuff, I rooted my SGS1 immediately before I gave it to her and back it up for her daily - not much use to you I know, but rooting/backups are a must, IMO.
She also uses Note Everything - as do I - and it always has survived a factory reset/full wipe for us, data's stored on the sd card, not in the system partition.
You've given all the info anyone could want, hope someone with more knowledge than me can think of a solution.
Good luck - I'll try and think more myself
Edit - not backed up via Google sync by any chance? If not, can you access it via Settings, or does TW crash on you every time?
Thanks also to you B3311.
I've checked with my fried who has the same phone and in fact all the voice recordings are stored in sdcard/audio. I've also found the directory of Note Everything inside sdcard. So, if this files will be kept, most of data that I care will be safe.
I have again some last few question, I give them a number so the post looks more clear.
1) As for Google sync, I have it enabled. On my computer I can see my calendar and my contacts, is there any other thing that Google sync backups?
2) So, apparently the only thing that I can now do is to do a "factory reset".
It is OK to go put the phone in Recovery Mode (Volume Up + Home + Power buttons ) and than select "factory reset"? Is the "factory reset" the same option that "wipe user data", or it is different?
As you can se It is the very first time I do a factory reset (and also that I enter in recovery mode), and I am a little bit worried that something goes wrong.
3) If all the data that is on /sdcard will be kept, so what kind of data I will lose? I suppose Contacts (1) , SMS (2), Calendar data (3), Apps (4) and Phone options (5) will be deleted, but is there any other type data that will be deleted?
Thank you everybody for your patience and your support dealing with this problem!!
please last question
Last question: in this tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499) concerning how to deal with a boot loop (which is not my case) it is said to make a "wipe user data" and than to flash a stock ROM.
Do you think that, in my case, make a factory reset would directly fix the problem, or I also have to flash?
Than you very much!

Very Short Video Explaining Everything!
Hello,
I've found out that when I choose reboot from the recovery mode, I get this error:
E: copy_kernel_file :: Can't open /data/log/recovery_kernel_log.txt
To explain you the problem I have with the phone, I made this very short video:
Having this error, is it safe to select wipe data/factory reset?
I summarize: I have some very important data on the phone, in particular some voice recording and some data took with the app Note Everything that I would really like to save.
What can you suggest me to do?
Thank you very much again.

Hi Sun90 and thanks. Unfortunately KIES keeps telling me "connecting" but does't connect.
You can find all the info in my first post, please see "Some additional information" here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25577449&postcount=1
What can you suggest me to do to save data?
Having the kernel error, if I factory reset is it possible to have even a more serious problem?
Thanks.

To resolve it: From your homescreen click menu, then Settings, Applications, Manage Applications. This screen will have tabs running across the top, click the ALL tab. Then scroll down to LogsProvider, select the app, then Force Stop and Clear Data. After that you should be good to go.

This is the solution.
You might not need to do a factory reset, I just cleared cache partition and it worked.
Explained here on StackExchange, I'm not allowed to post URLs yet:

Hopefully this is in the right forum... But I am using the HSBC Banking app and recently moved over to this Digital Security key they are offering. Today I updated the ROM on my phone and it has stopped recognising the password as correct and won't allow me to log in, I'm guessing it stored a file somewhere on my phone and now that file is missing? Dunno...
Anyway, fortunately I took a full system backup before updating so hopefully i'll be able to restore to that and it will start working again, but my question is for anyone that has been in this situation too, is there a way that in the future I can avoid this? Is there a file I can backup or something that anyone knows of? I tried using Titanium and restoring the apk data but that didn't do the job either.
It's going to be really annoying if I have to ring HSBC everytime I update my phone :/
So thanks for reading everyone and thanks for any help!
Hello there,
Did you find a solution to your problem ?
I have the exact same issue with HSBC secure key connection and the fact that doing a full update of a ROM disconnect the password/login of this HSBC app. And the only solution is to call them back to reset the password -> really annoying.
Have you try a back up app ? And restoring the data afterward ?
Cheers,
Nicolas

That won't work. I've taken a full backup of app+data with Titanium Backup and restored it after doing a ROM update. It works for other banking apps but not for HSBC - automatically the login gets invalidated and you need to call HSBC to get the digital secure key reactivated on the new ROM.
So when i'm trying to restore my backup from google account (on first time setup android), it didn't restored correctly. My hotspot settings, sound settings still has the default config from the ROM. But i have a suspect to Android setup, which always appearing to the notification and settings, and when i clicking it, it will says preparing and you need to connect to wifi. But i've already.
oh, for the information, this thing happens on all Pie rom build end of november-now (early dec)

no, i'm never restore apps from play store. It only restore settings configuration, and some apps which has backup on drive.
Use migrate app
Use this app and u can migrate from rom to rom easily without losing apps and app data (setting, permission, etc)
Ok, maybe it's not a fix, but a workaround because till the date, while i wrote this (15 Dec 2018), the only cusrom that doesn't need this workaround only Aex, yes, Aex initial official build, while other pie still has this bug.
So what i did is select one of my apps to restore while on first time setup, then when arrived on home screen after completing first time setup, find app restore notification on status bar. Click on use mobile data, then select restore now. After that click on apps, it will send you to play store, to the apps update list.
While on Play Store, cancel all apps than on update list, then find the apps by keyword or in library, that have been selected on first setup. Click cancel to that, and you're done. All apps Settings, Settings (like sounds settings, keyboard preferences, etc) will restored correctly.
tl;dr, backup restore from google account doesn't works if you doesn't select at least 1 app while on apps selecting on first time setup. This thing happen on almost all Pie Rom that i've tried (note : only using rom that maintened by official maintener and never tried GSI) (Nos, MSM, liquid remix, Havoc,Arrow, PE, Bootleggers) except Aex.

Not a good idea. If u move from one rom to another. Restoring User Settings creates problem. Everyrom has diffrent tree. Can create crashes and drain.
Even restoring it on same rom is not good idea since same rom goes through huge changes.

Yeah you're right, sometimes if the backup comes from heavily modded rom like LR, Havoc, then it restored to minimal cust like Arrow, Nos, then it would make the systemui crashed and phone stopped responding
