[Q] International Google Play Store Edition i9505g on Verizon - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hey all. I recently got the International Google Play Store edition of the S4 and was wondering if it is in any way compatible with Verizon? I'd originally signed up with T-Mobile a week or so ago, but am getting really terrible service and hoping to switch. I did a network search and it only came up with T-Mobile & ATT, but could that be because I have a T-Mobile sim in? Tried running in to the store a couple days ago and they popped in a Verizon sim and it didn't work, but I was also using a custom ROM that was in a very early experimental stage. Not sure if that'd effect it. Have since flashed back to stock, but haven't had a chance to run back in to Verizon yet. Thanks in advance for any help/advise.

VZW uses CDMA network. Only VZW version has CDMA radios for VZW network.

I'm surprised they even tried a sim at the Verizon store. No, the GE version doesn't have the right radios for Verizon's network, and there is no Google Experience S4 sold for Verizon. You could go with AT&T, or sell the phone back and get the Verizon S4.

Can a at&t note 2 be flashed to work with Verizon?

The ability to do cool stuff with phones doesn't surprise me so I'm going to ask. I've seen it done going the opposite direction.

I think you can flash a custom .zip rom thru recovery then do some apn edits, but do not flash stock verizon firmware to your att device through odin. there is a difference!!

I am not 100% here but...
As far as I know the Verizon Note 2 works on AT&T and other carriers because in addition to being VZW device, it is also a world phone, meaning it has a GSM radio in addition to the CDMA VZW radio.
The AT&T Note 2 is a world phone by default due to AT&T being GSM so it only needs that one radio.
I do not think the AT&T version has the required CDMA radio in it to access VZW service.
I will do some checking and post back in a few.
**EDIT**
I checked the AT&T forum for the Note 2 and can not find any mention of a CDMA radio or anyone successfully using an AT&T Note 2 on Verizon.
**EDIT 2**
Verizon also gets to "approve" any device they let on their 3G CDMA network, so without some fancy hacking that we are not allowed to talk about on XDA.... you probably could not even activate the phone on Verizon.
^I believe you are correct...I was thinking the other way around not att on verizon.

[Q] Flashing a samsung note 2 to straight talk verizon.

I am trying to get my samsung note 2 onto the straight talk network that uses the verizon towers. My phone is a global phone so I can use the at&t or t-mobile services through straight talk but I would prefer to run off verizon towers as I would have better service. I have recently contacted Straight talk and they do still use verizon towers but they will not allow a 4g phone onto this network. Just as Verizon Prepaid plans will not allow a 4g phone I assume. They do allow 4g phones for att and tmobile however. I know you can flash a 4g phone to work with verizon's prepaid however I am not sure if I can do the same for straight talk. Will I even need to flash? Please help!
Android Version: 4.1.2
I hope this is the right section for this post. Thanks!
Just look for a good ROM 4.2.2 and below. I have had many issues with no service at all running 4.3 ROMs. All you have to do is Google the best APN settings for straight talk. I'm on net10 so I cant help with that, but yeah. I'm running avatar rom if that helps you with a rom to use :3

Yes, that does help. Now I know where to start. I will find a good ROM and try to find the APN settings. If I do find the correct APN settings will I need a verizon straight talk sim card for my phone or will I just have to go on their site or call them to activate without the sim? Any information on how I can activate my Note 2 to the verizon straight talk network would be helpful. Or would I just have to get the Verizon straight talk sim and just enter the correct apn settings and just plug in and use the phone?
I would not be opposed to using net 10 however. I am just looking for a semi affordable pre paid service that runs off verizon's towers. Considering I pay $130 a month for my service with verizon, it wouldn't take much to beat what I am paying now.
There is no verizon straight talk sim cards. This will probably only be possible with a donor phone.

Is there a tutorial somewhere on using a donor phone to get on the Verizon side? That is what I did with my fascinate and want to do the same with a note 2
To the OP, how's the new service working?

[Q] i605 note 2 trouble

I have a rooted phone with jelly beans rom I am able to ADD Networks to the ROM Software also I can do it with HIAPN Software. But nothing works. What am I doing wrong. Its a Verizon i605 Note 2 which I would like to Try STRAIGHT TALK using AT&T Towers. I have tried 2 different At&t straight talk SIMS. Neither one will bring up SIGNAL on my screen. The last card I bought says for At&t compatibly phones or UNLOCKED GSM Phones. My phone is UNLOCKED am I imputing the wrong DATA in the APN Info area can someone help me here find what is causing my problem. Frank [email protected]
The only CDMA-based phones that work on Straight Talk are the ones that Straight Talk sells directly. The "bring your own phone" method only works with GSM (AT&T, T-Mobile) phones.

I have a Verizon fascinate I flashed to mimic a straight talk CDMA phone. Works great. I'm actually here now because I want to know if I can do the same with a note 2

Thinking about getting a T-Mobile and returning my ATT

Wondering if anyone that has the t-mobile version on att could speak on any adverse effects at all. I'm curious if ISIS wallet still works, provided you have the new SIM card that is. Most info I've seen is about reception which all seems to be good so that's a relief. Has anyone come across any issues at all?
I've got a few days left to return this thing and I'm trying to make up my mind please help!

Usually the difference between ATT and TMO phones by Samsung is the bootloader. It will be locked on AT&T, and has been confirmed unlocked on the TMO S5. When custom roms and kernels come to the S5 you'll be happier if you have the TMO phone.
We need a really organized thread for all the T-Mobile S5 inquires.

How to remove Non-Verizon SIM notification?

I bought this phone new but was told it was carrier locked, and so I bought the obligatory 2 months of Verizon prepaid so I could justify using it unlocked. After I cancelled my prepaid account, the agent wanted to give me the unlock code, but said there wasn't one, or she was having an issue trying to get one. I have the phone running on TracFone now (operating on the Verizon network through TracFone,) but I am persistently getting the SIM card warning "The SIM card is not from Verizon Wireless." When I hold down the notification, it says "SIM card. These notifications can't be modified."
Anyone know how to remove the SIM card check or block that notification? Everything else seems to be working fine.
Check out the stock restore thread in roms, kernels, and development. You can flash the retail firmware on the Verizon variant. That should remove all the Verizon bloat and the Verizon sim notification. Unfortunately being it is a Verizon variant, it cannot be bootloader unlocked or rooted to change built in functions of the phone

I appreciate that tip. I will say the only other thing I've noticed is that the phone no longer connects to the 5G network. It stays on LTE, whereas before it would switch back and forth. Must be provisioned that way since I'm with an MVNO.
Yes if you are not on Verizon you can't access their 5G, visual voicemail, or wifi calling. I had straight talk for years on the Verizon network. Works well but no Verizon features. What is rediculous in my opinion is I believe Verizon actually purchased straight talk not too long ago?

Verizon was set to buy TracFone from American Movil, and I'm assuming that sale also includes the other MVNOs that American Movil runs in the US, including Straight Talk, Walmart Family Wireless, Safelink Wireless, etc.
